Chapter 99: Retribution

The waiter trembled. "I am so sorry. Someone bumped into me." He glared at Karla who also glared back at him.

"I am so sorry, it was an accident!" Karla tried to sound innocent and apologetic.

Aryana felt the heat started to penetrate her coat. She quickly removed the coat to prevent further damage on her skin.

"Why did you block it?" Kurt Heinz asked her.

"Why did I? Of course it is instinct and I cannot let something bad happen to my guest." She answered softly and then she hissed.

Camille took out a lot of table napkins wet them with water and hurriedly wiped away the soup left on Aryana’s blouse. Aryana hissed again. She felt a burning sensation on her back.

Erik was angry when he saw Aryana’s state. He reached her in four big strides.

"I am sorry for this accident Mr. Heinz." Erik bowed slightly.

"I am not hurt but she is. She saved me." Kurt cut him.

"Camille, Marlon, please take care of our guests. I’ll take Aryana to the hospital first. Again, my apologies."

Erik took off his coat and put it on Aryana. He threw Karla a fierce stare before he carried Aryana out of the restaurant.

Cassie’s heart skipped a beat when she saw Erik’s cold glare. ’Damn Karla! I told her not to do anything stupid.’

Karla shivered when she saw Erik looked at her with anger in his eyes. She was scared.

At the car, the driver lowered the privacy barrier. Erik quickly removed Aryana’s blouse and her under garments. He let her lay down on his lap with her back exposed.

The flesh of her back was red and started to blister. He gritted his teeth.

"Does it looked bad?" Aryana hissed. She was in pain.

Erik did not answer her.

"Why did you played the heroine? You should have let that soup hit that German instead. I am pretty sure his skin is much thicker than yours and will not get burn easily."

Aryana laughed then she hissed. A slight movement on her back caused her pain.

"He is your important guest. Besides as their guide today, I feel responsible for their safety."

Erik was silent for a while. He took out his cell phone and typed a message to Marlon. "Make sure that Karla will suffer the same way Aryana suffered today. No! Make it double!"

At the restaurant, Marlon read Erik’s message. He simply sighed and did as instructed. The group of Marlon soon left the restaurant while Cassie and her friends continued to enjoy their meal as if nothing happened.

Karla was gloating inside. She felt contended because she made that bitch suffered.

A waiter carrying a piping hot soup passed by their table. Coincidentally, a woman sitting on the nearby table stood up. The tray tilted and the soup spilled on Karla’s back.

An agonizing scream filled the restaurant followed by hysterical cries.

"I’m so sorry Miss. It was an accident." The woman sounded very apologetic and bowed many times. She scrambled and tried to wipe off the soup particles from Karla’s back. Karla pushed her hard and she fell on the ground."

"You did this on purpose! I’ll make you pay. I’ll sue you." Karla cried out loud.

"Miss, the other lady earlier whom you intentionally spilt the soup did not make a fuss at all. Why would you want to make it difficult for me when what happened now is really an accident?"

When Cassie heard what the woman said, she had a bad feeling. She exchanged a troubled look with Marriane.

Karla’s continuous wails brought them back to reality.

"What are you waiting for. Hurry, let’s take her to the hospital."

Erik arranged for a VIP room for Aryana. She was put on tranquilizer and was sleeping in prone position.

Alex visited her ward.

"What are you looking at?" Erik glared at him when he noticed Alex was examining Aryana’s back with his eyes.

"Dude, what’s wrong with you? I am a doctor." He passed Erik a tube of burn ointment. "That’s a first degree burn and the area is quite large. What happened?"

"Someone spilled hot soup on her."

Alex felt the room temperature dropped by a few degrees because of the coldness of Erik’s voice.

"You want me to call for a female doctor to apply the ointment or you do it yourself?"

Erik took the ointment and applied it gently on Aryana’s back.

He sent for Elaine so Aryana has company in the hospital. He had urgent matters to attend at the office and cannot stay with Aryana. He assigned two body guards to guard her ward.

Karla was admitted at the same hospital as Aryana. She suffered from second and first degree burns. Her parents came as soon as they heard what happened to her.

"Who did this to my baby?" Mrs. Cortiz asked angrily.

Cassie, Marriane and Rhia recounted what happened. Karla’s father was fuming. He went to the restaurant to settle the score with the owner.

"Mr. Cortiz, I suggest that we settle this amicably." The manager of the restaurant said politely.

"Settle? My daughter is now lying in the hospital with second degree burns and you want me to just settle this?" Mr. Cortiz flared up.

"We have the CCTV footage where your daughter intentionally harmed a very important client of ours Mr. Cortiz. Thankfully someone stepped in and our client was not harmed."

The manager played the footage where Karla was caught intentionally bumping into the waiter which resulted to the soup getting spilled.

"That is no ordinary guest Mr. Cortiz. That’s the CEO of Heinz Corporation from Germany and a distinguished guest of Erik Lee."

Mr. Cortiz felt his blood pressure rise. What trouble has his daughter brought him?

The manager also played the footage of the spilling incident on Karla. Of course he now understood why Karla met such accident.

"Rest assured that we will cover all the hospitalization bills of your daughter."

Mr. Cortiz did not say anything more. He just gritted his teeth and left. He was hoping that Erik Lee will not do anything more to ruin his family. Anyway, his daughter has already suffered.
