Chapter 100: Apologize to Her
Chapter 100: Apologize to Her
Cassie and Marriane accompanied Karla in her ward. She was cursing the doctor who was cleaning her wound. They were embarrassed because she was so loud and acted like an uneducated lady. They cannot however blame her as she was in great pain.
Karla’s parents came back to the hospital.
"Did you seek justice for me Daddy? You should put that waiter and that woman to prison." Karla asked her father the moment he entered the ward.
Her father just looked at her gloomily.
"You offended someone that you shouldn’t have."
When Cassie heard his words, she felt worried. Was it Erik who has gotten back on Karla? If it was him, he was very ruthless. Cassie suddenly felt scared.
"What do you mean Daddy?" Karla looked confused.
"Just focus on getting better." Her father snapped at her.
"Are you letting them off just like that?" She feel wronged.
"You should not have offended someone you can’t afford to offend."
"But it is only that bitch Aryana." She protested.
"Don’t be reckless Karla. Don’t cause any trouble for me." Her father scolded her.
Karla cried pitifully. "I am already hurt Daddy and still you are scolding me."
Cassie visited Aryana’s ward in the evening. Her ward was big but it was a bit crowded because Aryana has visitors. When Amy and Elaine noticed Cassie standing at the door, they told Aryana that they were leaving and will just visit her in the morning.
Cassie hesitated at the door for a minute. She then came inside wearing that gentle smile on her face and carrying a fruit basket.
"I am just nearby so I dropped by for a visit. How are you Aryana?" Cassie asked in a concerend voice.
"Getting better." She replied briefly and politely.
"Karla met an accident in the same restaurant. She had some second degree burns." Cassie announced in no one in particular but she tried to look at Erik.
Erik didn’t say anything.
Aryana looked surprised. ’Karla has second degree burns?’ She stole a glance at Erik. He was busy with his cellphone.
"Erik, I’ll do my rounds first." Alex escaped leaving only Cassie, Erik, Marlon and Aryana in the room.
Cassie stood akwardly for some time. She took out an apple from the fruit basket. She then went to the restroom and washed the apple. She peeled it then cut into bite sizes and passed them Aryana.
Aryana did not want to appear impolite so she accepted the fruit and took a bite.
"Thank you Cassie. Have some too." She plastered a smile on her face.
"Erik." Cassie said gently.
"About what Karla did earlier, I would like to apologize on her behalf. It was really an accident..."
"Is it?" Erik cut her in. Cassie looked down. She did not dare say anymore.
"She should apologize to Aryana not me." Erik said dryly.
"Okay, I’ll take her here to apologize." Cassie said in a small voice. She did not stay long. Erik and Aryana being together made her really uncomfortable.
She went back to Karla’s ward. She needed to convince Karla and her father to apologize to Aryana otherwise Erik will be angry with her. He would think that the entire thing was her idea even if it wasn’t.
It was easy for her to convince Karla’s father. All she needed was a few words. Karla however was different. She was stubborn.
"Why should I apologize? I wanted to take my revenge on her and you want me to apologize?" She angrily said.
"Karla, you have to apologize for now. We cannot afford to offend Erik." She coaxed her gently. "Have you thought why you were also scalded earlier?" Cassie reminded her.
Karla paused. She remembered the way Erik looked at her before she took Aryana out of the restaurant.
"Don’t tell me it is Erik’s order?" Karla was horrified.
"It must be him." Karla slumped on the bed when she heard Cassie’s confirmation.
Cassie helped to push Karla’s wheel chair to the direction of Aryana’s ward. They were accompanied by the Cortiz couple. Marriane and Rhia left the hospital as they have other matters to attend to.
"Miss Jones, we personally came her to apologize to you for what happened earlier." Gerry Cortiz said slightly bowing to Aryana. Though his voice was courteous, Aryana sensed a slight trace of arrogance.
"I am sorry Aryana for what happened earlier." Was all Karla had to say.
"It is all the past now. Just be careful next time." Aryana can do nothing but accept their apologies.
The group left Aryana’s ward leaving only Erik and Aryana.
"Are you hungry?" Erik asked when he heard Aryana’s stomach growled.
She was about to nod when someone knocked on the door and food delivery came in.
Erik arranged the food on the bed for her and they shared a meal together.
"You did that to Karla? Aryana asked as she drank the can of pineapple juice that Erik passed to her.
"She hurt you so she should pay for it."
Aryana felt her heart warmed. She loved the feeling of being protected. She felt that justice was served on her on a silver platter and she did not feel wronged anymore.
Erik fed her pain reliever and applied the ointment on her back. He dimmed the light and laid down beside her. He nestled her head over his chest and made sure that she was comfortable.
It was already ten pm when Cassie told Karla that she will go back to the Lopez mansion. She will come visit again tomorrow before going to her photo shoot.
She decided to pass by Aryana’s ward just to take a peek. The two body guards stood guard at the door like two statues.
"I’ll just say hi then leave." She said silently.
She opened the door gently. The light was dim but she clearly saw a scene that hurt her eyes so much she wanted to vomit blood.
Erik was sleeping peacefully on the bed while Aryana was on top of him. Her head was nestled across his chest.
Cassie stepped back and hurriedly closed the door. Her chest tightened. Her fingernails dugged on the flesh of her palms until blood gushed out.
An intense hatred towards Aryana filled her heart.
