Chapter 89: First Love Never Dies
Erik ignored the comment. He took out a plate and fill it with food. He then sat on a solo couch at the corner.
Casssie glanced sideways at Marriane.
"Erik, you and Cassie hasn’t seen each other for a long time. Why not sit together and catch up?" Marriane tried to create an opportunity for the two former love birds.
"It is okay. We can still catch up with me sitting here."
"Hey guys, let’s dig in while the food is hot and later let us have alcohol." Alex said cheerfully.
Erik received a message. It was from Aryana.
Aryana: I am having dinner with Elaine. Have you eaten?
Erik: Eating now
Aryana: Enjoy your meal. Give my regards to Marlon, Franco and Alex.
Erik sighed. He didn’t know that he will be meeting Cassie today. He thought he will only be chilling with his buddies.
The people in the room were all looking at Erik who was engrossed with his cell phone. He pocketed his cellphone and resumed eating.
"Did you see Cassie’s press conference? She was so awesome! The netizens were all crazy about her and there is not a single negative comment." Karla was buttering up Cassie.
"Oh, I was busy recently and haven’t checked the entertainment. Let me check." Marlon unlocked his cellphone and started browsing.
"You signed a contract with Galaxy Entertainment?" Erik asked Cassie in a professional tone. She nodded.
"That’s a good company with a lot of resources." He looked at her thoughtfully.
"Are you staying here for good?" Erik started making small talks with her.
"Yes. My heart belongs here after all." She sought his eyes but he was not looking at her. Cassie clenched her fists.
"Are you getting back together?" Rhia blurted out tactlessly.
There was silence in the room.
"What are you saying Rhia? I am here to start a career." Cassie said nonchalantly but she stole a glance at Erik.
"You two were so in love back then. We didn’t know what really happened but we were sad when Cassie left." Marriane said sadly.
"Girls, it is all in the past. Let us not talk about it anymore." Erik’s cold voice filled the air. Cassie felt as if cold water was poured over her.
’Erik, why are you so cruel to me? Don’t you love me anymore?’ Cassie thought bitterly.
An awkward silence ensued. Franco, Marlon and Alex exchanged glances. They then started pouring alcohol on the glasses of the women.
"Common guys, enjoy the best alcohol in Midnight Club." Franco raised his glass for a toast. He was trying to diffuse the tension in the air.
"Cassie, how about you sing as a song. You have a very good voice and we missed your singing." Karla urged her and passed her the microphone.
Cassie obliged. She selected a loves songs that she used to sing to Erik when they were in the bar in the past.
Erik frowned and appeared bored. He checked out his cellphone to see if Aryana sent him any messages. ’Is she home?’ He started to worry.
He checked the photo in her moments. She was wearing another of the dresses that Mu Feng sent her. He was not happy about having another man prepare clothes for his woman, but then it was part of Aryana’s job. He has to admit that she really looked good on Mu Feng’s designs.
Cassie noticed that Erik was not paying attention to her at all. He was busy with his cellphone. She drank glass after glass of alcohol until she was wasted.
"That’s enough Cassie. You are already drunk." Franco prevented her from downing another glass.
"I am not drunk. Let me enjoy this time with you guys. I missed you so much."
She stood wobbling on her legs and placed the microphone near her mouth. "Let me sing one last song and I dedicate this to my first love, Erik."
"Maybe first love never really dies, thats why I still love you, like crazy
Hold me close and look into my eyes, and tell me you don’t feel it too
The way it used to be when you told me, it would be forever, you and me.
We never really said goodbye, we never really said it’s over.
So I guess it is not over for us and fate brought us back together.
When I saw you again, I could hardly speak, you are handsome as ever babe.
I think it is still the same, first love never dies.
My love for you is still the same and fate brought us back.
First love never dies.."
As Cassie’s voice faded the room was filled with silence. Marlon stole a glance at Erik. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw his expressionless face. He looked at Franco meaningfully and raised his glass to him. Franco pursed his lips.
Cassie approached Erik at the couch where he was sitting. She wanted to hug him and kissed him badly. She did realized that she still loved Erik. Her legs wobbled and she fell down on the couch sprawled upon Erik.
Marriane hastily took a photo.
The ladies gasped while Marlon hurried to help Cassie and pulled her away from Erik.
"Are you alright?" Marlon asked anxiously. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Cassie glared at him. Why did he pulled her away from Erik?
Erik stood up. "Cassie you are already drunk. Let’s call it a night." He nodded at Marlon and said. "Send Cassie and the others back."
With that, he exited the VIP room without looking back.
The people who were left in the room looked at each other in bewilderment.
"What is wrong with Erik? Why did he left and not send Cassie back?"
’Why would he send her back? He cannot wait to go home to his wife.’ Marlon answered silently.
"No, I want Erik to send me back." Cassie stuttered.
"He is gone Cassie." Marlon said and he tried to support her to lead her out of the room.
"Don’t touch me. Only Erik can carry me." She said before passing out.
