Chapter 243: Pregnant For Him 2

He sent another message. He heard a notification from his phone right away.

He grinned after he read her reply.

Jax went back to his office still wearing a victorious smile on his face.

At the headquarters of Timeless Beauty, Cassie was in a daze. She was looking at her laptop but her mind was not on the email she was reading. She glanced at the gold watch on her slender wrist.

It was 4:30 pm. Cassie released a long sigh. She took her Gucci shoulder bag and headed to the door.

"Tell Mandy to go to the entrance to pick me up." She ordered the woman who was waiting for her.

Her secretary followed Cassie with her gaze. Something is off with the boss. She glanced at her desk and noticed that the documents that needed her signature were still not signed.

"President, how about the documents that need your signature?" She asked tentatively.

"Bring them to the car. I’ll go over them at home." Cassie sounded tired.

The secretary hurriedly packed the documents and walked alongside her boss.

"Are you unwell, Boss? You looked pale and listless." She asked worriedly.

"Don’t ask too much," Cassie said coldly.

The secretary shut her mouth. They stood silently until the elevator reached the ground floor.

"Cassie!" the sound of her name being called by the three people at the same time caused Cassie to pause.

"Marriane, Karla, Rhia, what are you doing here?"

"If we did not come, will you remember us? Marriane asked in an aggrieved tone.

"Yeah, we haven’t seen you in a long time." Rhia pouted.

"We came to fetch you. Let us have dinner." Karla held her arm with both of her hands.

Cassie looked distressed. It took some time before she could respond.

"I am sorry guys. I am on my way to meet a client. I cannot join you today. How about we do it tomorrow? It will be my treat." Cassie smiled awkwardly as she looked at her friends.

The trio was disappointed. They thought that they could shop and dine with Cassie today.

"I promise. I will make it up to you tomorrow." Cassie said with conviction.

The three ladies relented. They watched helplessly as Cassie’s car sped away.

When Cassie arrived at the restaurant, a waiter escorted her to a private room on the second floor. The restaurant was aptly named Sunset by the Bay because it has an unobstructed view of the West.

The restaurant was known for lover’s trysts. Cassie wondered why Jax selected this place for their dinner tonight. When the waiter opened the door of the private room for her, she was surprised to see that Jax was already waiting for her.

He was standing by the glass wall facing the sunset. He was wearing a dark gray suit and matching pants.

Cassie studied Jax. Erik was taller than him by perhaps two centimeters but the difference was not that big. Since he became the CEO of the Lee Financials, Jax has become more confident. His aura was similar to that of a respected CEO.

News of him and his women became rare. Perhaps he became busy or maybe, he now has a reputation to protect.

Jax must have noticed her presence. He turned around and gave her a dashing smile. Cassie’s heart skipped a bit. She did not realize that Jax was very handsome when he smiled.

Jax walked toward her. His long strides cut the distance between her and him in just a matter of a few seconds.

"You are ten minutes late." Jax seemed annoyed but he still extended his hand to Cassie and assisted her on the seat.

Cassie was confused. She raised her eyebrows and looked at Jax inquisitively.

"You seemed to be a little attentive today. It scares me." Cassie said matter-of-factly.

Jax pulled a chair for her. He signalled for the waiter and the waiter came with the menu.

Cassie ordered an orange juice and strawberry cake. She passed the menu back to the waiter. She has no appetite and she wanted to go home early.

Jax looked at her with disapproval. He ordered two sets of the Chef’s Specials and a fruit platter.

"I don’t have any appetite at all, Jax. it will just go to waste." Cassie frowned. She did not want to be forced.

"You seemed to have lost some weight. Could it be that you are pregnant? I did not wear any protection when we did it." Jax acted casual when he asked but in fact, he was studying Cassie’s reaction.

Cassie’s hand that was holding the glass of juice trembled. Her face also turned pale.

’Does Jax know that I am pregnant? But how could he know?’

"Judging by your reaction, it looks like you are pregnant." Jax looked serious.

Cassie flared up.

"So what if I am? Yes, I am pregnant but I will abort the baby. I do not want to birth your child. I only want Erik’s child." Cassie was flustered and seemed muddle-headed.

Jax gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. He wanted to strangle Cassie. He exhaled and inhaled deeply and finally regained his self-control.

He chuckled. "I really pity you, Cassie. You still have not woken up until now. You are so obsessed with Erik and yet you did not see his post in his moments."

Cassie put down the glass that she was about to drink. She looked at Jax sharply and her brows furrowed.

"What do you mean by that?"

Jax shook his head and scanned Cassie who was sitting across from him. He moved his chair so he was sitting beside her. He placed his cell phone in front of Cassie.

A photo of Erik, holding a baby close to his face appeared in Cassie’s line of sight. It was obvious that Erik lacked sleep but the joy in his face was palpable.

In the photo, the baby was looking at the camera.

"How could it be? Does it mean that Erik cheated on Aryana?" Cassie asked. She felt a little smug to know that Erik was not one hundred percent loyal to Aryana.

"Why not try to look at the child’s features?" Jax hinted.

"Her eyes..." Cassie stammered.

"How could it be? It is impossible!"
