Chapter 242: Check Up

Chapter 242: Check Up

Jax was surprised to see Cassie at the hospital. But before he could say anything, Cassie walked hurriedly past him intentionally bumping his side.

"Scumbag! He really doesn’t deserve to be a father." She muttered under her breath.

Jax’s brows furrowed as he followed the woman with his gaze.

"Cassie!" He called.

Cassie walked faster and pretended not to hear him.

Jax gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.

"Do you know her?" The pregnant lady asked him.

"Hmm." Jax replied. He was wondering why Cassie was at the hospital.

Cassie was fretting as she navigated the hospital’s narrow corridor to go to the main lobby. She did not know why she was angered to see Jax escorting a woman who should be in her third trimester to the OB and Gynecology wing of the hospital.

Was that his wife? However, she did not hear any that Jax has a wife, but he could have married secretly.

"Hump. Why bother? I know that Jax is a playboy. He must have a lot of women by his side and must have fathered many babies.’’ She muttered under her breath.

The nurse who was walking beside her heard her rumblings. She cast her a furtive glance.

’She looked like a jealous mistress." The nurse decided in her heart based on how Cassie acted.

Cassie took the elevator. At the time she reached the basement parking and left in her car, Jax escorted the pregnant woman into the same clinic that Cassie visited earlier.

The doctor who was sitting on a black swivel chair, looked at the couple sitting across her with disappointment.

"Where is your husband? Why is Jax the one accompanying you?" The doctor’s voice was very stern.

"Niel is busy with work, Mom. He cannot accompany me today." The pregnant woman fumbled with her cell phone while gazing pitifully at the doctor.

"But Jax is the CEO and your husband is just a manager. So, who is the busier one? How come your cousin could find time to accompany you?" The doctor did not hide her irritation.

The pregnant lady fell silent. She realized that the more she spoke, the more suspicious the doctor became.

"Auntie, don’t worry. I will deal with Niel for cousin. Though I already asked someone to investigate him. The good news is that he doesn’t have another woman outside and he indeed is always working overtime." Jax hurriedly explained.

The pregnant woman looked at him gratefully.

"That’s good then. But if the next time he will not accompany you on your pre-natal checkup, he better not show his face in front of me again. I will have him divorce you."

"Mother!" the pregnant lady lost her composure and shouted at the doctor. How can she divorce Niel? She loved him so much.

"Arabella, keep your voice down. There are other patients waiting at the reception area. Let us not occupy Aunt’s time." Jax coaxed his cousin.

Arabella calmed down. She obediently went to the examination room.

The doctor pretended to be calm but deep inside, her heart welled with happiness as she watched the fetus move around her daughter’s uterus. The doctor finished her examination and took her ultrasound.

"Bella, take care of yourself. The baby is healthy and he is doing fine inside your belly." The doctor assisted Bella when she got off the the bed. She wrote some prescriptions and handed them to her. She also went to the cabinet behind her chair and took some supplements.

"Take each of these medicine once a day and try to control your food intake. The baby is in good health. If you continue to gain weight, you will have problems giving birth." The doctor’s voice has become gentler. She was first a mother and second a doctor.

Arabella nodded and accepted the two bottles that her mother offered her. She pretended to study the label as she did not have anything to say to her mother.

"Auntie, the woman who just came out from your clinic, why did she consult you?" Jax asked while he continued to stand beside the pregnant woman.

The doctor looked up and eyed Jax curiously. "We don’t divulge our patient’s information as it is confidential."

"I know the man she is seeing." Jax hastily explained. He wanted to say that he knew the girl but decided not to.

"So, he must be the father of the baby. That woman doesn’t want the child and she wanted me to abort it. Of course, I rejected her as I don’t do abortion." The doctor said casually.

"What! she is pregnant?" Jax’s voice hitched and his heart skipped a bit.

"Why are you so surprised? Didn’t your friend do it with her and he forgot to have protection? You, young men, are really so irresponsible. If you don’t want to have children then you should take precautions!" The doctor berated him but he knew that her nagging was not directed at him but at her daughter.

"That is not what I meant, Auntie." Jax took a long breath. He did not know what to feel at the moment. Cassie was pregnant? He was sure that the child was his. He asked someone to follow Cassie. She wasn’t with another man. Cassie only loved Erik.

Jax looked gloomy. He shook his head to dispel his thoughts about Cassie. What they have was just meeting each other’s physiological needs and nothing else.

However, Jax felt something was stirred within his heart. Was that the feeling of knowing that he would soon become a father?

Cassie wanted to abort the baby and he felt bad about it. Perhaps, if it was Erik who fathered the child, then Cassie would be very happy.

He decided that he would talk to Cassie about her pregnancy.

He sent a message to Cassie.

"’Sunset By The Bay, 5:00 pm."

His cell phone vibrated. The corner of his lips curled up as he read her message.

Cassie: "Dream On!"

Jax was furious.

"Cassie, since you wanted me to be ruthless, then don’t blame me!" Jax fretted.
