Chapter 241: Pregnant For Him

"Give her to me. I want to nurse her." Aryana looked at the father and daughter duo on the couch.

Erik stood up. He assisted Aryana with one hand while carrying Baby Erika with the other. He led her to a single couch with a footrest so she could be comfortable while breastfeeding.

The moment she cradled her baby, Erika started seeking her breast. Aryana was wearing a hospital gown customized for nursing mothers so there was a pair of flaps covering her chest area that could be lifted easily to expose her nipple and a portion of her breast.

The first time Baby Erika latched on her breast, she hissed.

"Are you in pain?" Erik stood beside her and inquired worriedly.

"A little bit. The book said it would get better after some time." Aryana smiled gently.

Erik took the stool from the other side of the bed, placed it beside Aryana, and sat on it. He looked at his wife and daughter dotingly. He took his cell phone and snapped a photo of his wife and little princess. He chose an angle that showed Aryana’s beautiful profile and half of Baby Erika’s face.

When Baby Erika was fully fed, Erik took her from Aryana and let her lie with her stomach at his chest.

"I didn’t know you are an expert on handling a newborn, Erik."

"I practiced a lot with a doll," Erik said with pride.

"Now, I realized why I named the baby, Erika. Somehow, my subconscious mind remembered you." Aryana patted the baby’s back gently while staring into Erik’s eyes.

Erik smiled and his eyes sparkled. His deep brown orbs shone brighter than the morning star. Of course, he knew it.

At the Lopez ancestral home...

Cassie sat down on the edge of the bathtub. She was in a daze as she held the plastic strip that showed two red lines.

"How could this be?" She smiled but it was full of bitterness.

She had wanted to be a mother for a long time but she only wanted to be pregnant for Erik, not another man.

She stood hastily and threw the pregnancy test kit in the trash can. Her period was late for three weeks hence she decided to buy a pregnancy kit.

Cassie hurriedly took a bath. She did not go directly to her company but she went to the hospital.

The Obstetrician sized the young lady sitting across from her. She was wearing a black body-hugging long-sleeved blouse and a white midi skirt. Her mask covered most of her face and her shades were oversized. It was apparent that she was hiding her identity.

The doctor had a knowing smile when she read about the information Cassie provided on the form. She knew that her name and address were fabricated.

"Do you already know that you are pregnant, Miss Cathy Reyes?"

The Doctor scrutinized Cassie.

Cassie shifted in her seat. She felt uncomfortable.

"You know Miss, it will be difficult for me to help you if you are keeping your identity a secret. We doctors know how to keep our patient’s information confidential."

"Doctor, I don’t doubt your professionalism and the credibility of this hospital. This is the best of the best after all. However, I fear that hackers could access my records." Cassie paused and also studied the doctor.

Doctor Nerma Si was a famous obstetrician. She was the OB of the mistresses of famous politicians as well as the wives of some big shots in the Central District.

She took off her mask and oversized shades and gave the doctor a faint smile.

"You can call me Cassie Lopez, Doc, but let us keep the name, Cathy Reyes in the record."

The doctor’s eyes twinkled. Another famous patient.

"Pregnancy is a joyous occasion. Being pregnant is the epitome of a complete woman. Don’t you like the baby you are carrying? Why being secretive?" The doctor asked as she gestured for Cassie to lie down on the bed for the ultrasound.

"This baby is a mistake. I want to be pregnant but it should be for him."

Doctor Si paused momentarily. She speculated that the man her patient wanted to father her baby was in love with someone else. She lifted Cassie’s blouse so she could place the lubricant on her belly for the ultrasound.

Based on Cassie’s declaration of the first day of her last menstruation, she was already seven weeks pregnant.

"You are indeed seven weeks pregnant, Cassie. I’ll prescribe supplements for you. Come back after a month."

Cassie’s face turned pale.

"I don’t want the baby, Doc. Can you prescribe medicines that will abort the baby?" Cassie asked.

"If you want that kind of medicine, then you have to go to another Doctor." Doctor Si’s moral beliefs did not allow her to prescribe abortifacient nor do an abortion unless the pregnancy posed a risk to the mother.

"If my health is at stake because of my pregnancy, then can you abort the baby? Money is not an issue."

Doctor Si narrowed her eyes. She wasn’t the first patient who cajoled her into doing an abortion in the guise of health.

Why not discuss it first with the baby’s father? A baby is a gift. Who knows, when the heavens make a joke on you, and when the time comes, you will not be able to conceive." Doctor Si commented casually while looking at there printed result of the ultrasound.

"Are you scaring me or cursing me?" Cassie got off the bed angrily.

"Sit down, Miss Cassie. Getting worked up is not good for you."

"Are you going to help me get rid of the baby or not?" Cassie’s threatening voice filled the room.

"Lower your voice. Unless you want everyone in the receiving area to hear you." Doctor Si said calmly.

’What a spoiled brat. Did she think that she could threaten me?’ The doctor thought to herself while keeping calm.

Cassie gnashed her teeth.

"You are not the only OB in the Capital District. I will go look for someone else." Cassie stood and stormed out of the room.

She was walking in a hurry and lost in her thoughts when she bumped into someone.

"Hey, watch were you’re going." Cassie thought it was the man’s fault so she scolded him. But when she tilted her head upwards, a look of panic registered on her face.
