Chapter 194: She Is Resigning

George Lee looked at the report on his hand before handing it back to his secretary. He has someone looked at the recent popularity of CoChi. He suspected that his grandson was behind it but he was surprised to discover that Erik has nothing to do with it.

"So, she got some business acumen, better than Cassie’s. Unfortunately she is still the lowborn daughter of a chauffeur." George Lee looked down at the stack of papers on his secretary’s hand. A glint crossed his eyes. "Have you sent out the invitation for the banquet to my children and grandchildren and to the few guests?"

"It is done, Boss. The preparations are also completed." The secretary replied in a respectful tone.

George Lee nodded. "Continue to have someone monitor her and Erik." He stood up from the iron garden chair that was placed under an oak tree and walked toward the entrance of the mansion. The secretary followed him while still carrying the report in his hand.

Meanwhile at Gaeya Corporation, Aryana brewed coffee for Erik when it was time for coffee break. She knocked twice before pushing the door open.

A strong perfume assaulted her nose. She tried to keep her composure as she approached Erik’s desk and placed the coffee beside him. She took a quick glance at Katherine who was wearing a tight-fitting low-neckline dress. She was intentional in showing off her cleavage.

Aryana threw a meaningful gaze at Erik before scurrying out of the office. Erik’s lips stretched sideways. Katherine looked at Erik with love-struck eyes. She thought Erik was smiling at her and she was over the moon.

"Erik, you are smiling. Does it mean that you agree to me being your assistant?" Katherine asked gently.

Erik’s eyes suddenly turned cold and his face turned into a mask of frost. "You are over qualified for the role, Katherine. Don’t stoop too low that you wouldn’t consider your reputation."

Katherine pouted. She didn’t care about having such a lowly position. She doesn’t lack money and it did not matter whether she earned money from working or not. What mattered was Erik. She needed to be near him so he can fall in love with her.

"If I can’t be your secretary then can I be your assistant?"

"I already have two assistants."

Katherine inhaled deeply then released the air slowly. Erik was so stubborn.

"If there is nothing else, please see yourself out. I still have lots of things to do." Erik said impatiently.

Katherine stood and left the office gloomily.

Aryana who was at her cubicle received a message from Rex.

Rex: ’I received an invitation from Central District’s Chamber of Commerce. They have organized a year end event for the big wigs in the industry and also for newcomers like us.’

Aryana: ’When is the event?’

Rex: ’The following Friday. I already asked Vince to design an evening gown for you. It is now time for you to come out in the open. You should resign from your lowly position as an assistant.’

Aryana could hint a sense of mockery in Rex’s voice when he highlighted the word ’assistant.’ But then who would think that the CEO of the popular clothing brand was an assistant to the CEO of Gaeya Corporation? Wouldn’t it be an insult to the brand? She has been thinking in the past few days and she has finally written her resignation letter.

Aryana was on her way to Erik’s office when she bumped into Katherine who has an ugly expression on her face. Aryana dropped the brown folder she was carrying and her resignation letter was exposed as the folder flipped open on the floor.

Katherine crouched down to pick up the folder. It was not because she was willing to help Aryana. No way. She only wanted to pick up the document because she wanted to confirm if indeed it was a resignation letter. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at the signature at the bottom.

"Are you resigning?"

No matter how hard Katherine tried to make her expression neutral, she cannot hide the sparkle in her eyes. She was feeling euphoric.

Aryana thanked her as she accepted the folder. She murmured a soft ’Yes’ before getting inside Erik’s office.

Erik was seriously perusing his laptop. He did not even bothered to look up.

"Why are you so serious boss?" Aryana’s sweet voice caused Erik to look up.

"Oh, you are here!" Erik was surprised at first but then, he gave her a flirtatious smile.

Aryana walked around the desk and went behind Erik’s. She placed her fore and index fingers on his temples and started massaging.

"Hmmm, that feels nice." Erik closed his eyes and relaxed as Aryana finished her massage.

"What brought you here?"

Aryana handed him the brown folder. Erik opened it. He scanned the letter quickly and did not seemed surprised at all.

"So the beauteous CEO of CoChi has finally decided to come out in the open?"

"The company is growing so fast. Rex and Elaine are having a hard time coping up. We will soon add footwear to our product lines and it will even be busier." Aryana said proudly.

"You got the invitation from Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award?"

"Yes. Rex told me a while ago."

"Great! I think CoChi will get a nomination for the Best New Player award."

"Do you think so?" Aryana took a seat in front of Erik. She placed her elbows on the edge of Erik’s mahogany table and cupped her chin with her hands. She was staring at Erik with clear and bright eyes.

"Don’t look at me like that if you want to get out of my office with your dress still looking decent." Erik’s voice sounded low and sexy.

Aryana chuckled as she stood up. She wanted to leave the room immediately before the temperature became even hotter.

"Can my resignation be effective immediately. Marlon knows all the details of my project anyway. There is nothing to hand over."

"Let’s see. If you get an award, then you can leave immediately. If none, then you have to serve the one-month termination notice."
