Chapter 195: Dressing Up For The Award

Elaine brought Aryana’s gown to Gaeya Corporation the day before the Business Excellence Awarding Ceremony.

"I forgot to ask Rex how many invitations did we get?"

"We got five so all of us can go."

"That’s great. I was afraid that we will only get two invitations."

"Do you think that we are getting an award that’s why we were given a lot of invitations?"

"Don’t set your expectations too high Elaine. It is better not to expect and then get it rather than expecting and be disappointed."

"Shouldn’t we think positively? We should believe in the power of positivism."

Aryana chuckled. "You have to believe in your ability."

The following day, Aryana, Elaine, and Jessa went to the salon together to have their hair and makeup done.

"Beautiful!" the makeup artist kept on praising Aryana to the point that her face has turned pink from blushing.

"I am your fan, Miss Jones. I really liked the posts of your outfit of the day."

"Thank you," Aryana murmured.

Aryana left first as she needed to go back to the Penthouse to change her dress. She agreed to go together with Erik. Elaine will drive by herself with the new car that she purchased a few weeks ago. Jessa and Vince will of course go together.

Erik was waiting for her at the Penthouse. She was wearing heavier makeup that projected an image of a strong woman.

Aryana changed into the red gown and Erik’s eyes darkened as he watched her.

"Are you trying to seduce me when there is little time left?" Erik whispered into her ear as he helped her with the zipper.

Aryana looked at him with innocent big eyes. "What? I am not doing anything?"

"Don’t tease me with that innocent-looking eyes of yours," Erik replied hoarsely.

Aryana stepped away from him to create a safe distance. She went inside the walk-in closet and looked at herself in the full-length mirror. They had their bedroom renovated recently to accommodate her growing wardrobe. Erik decided to give up part of the gym adjacent to their bedroom so she can have her walk-in closet.

The gown was not actually red but it was the color of fire, a combination of yellow, orange, red, and black. To be specific, it was like a bonfire against a backdrop of the dark night with embers that flickered as if blown by a gentle breeze. The sleeves reached up to her wrist and it was where Vince created the effect of the flickering embers. The skirt was made of soft fabric that perfectly hugged her figure but it was not cumbersome or uncomfortable when she walked. The only flesh that could be seen was her face, her slender neck, her collar bones, and the upper part of her chest.

Erik let out a whistle when Aryana stepped out of the closet. She transformed into a strong woman with a powerful aura. Her hair was pulled up in a neat bun with a few wisps of curled hair left hanging at both sides of her face. A pair of dangling earrings made from amber shaped into miniature fans adorned her earlobes. She did not wear any necklace. Erik’s gaze was drawn to her upper chest.

"Aren’t you going to wear a necklace? Isn’t that a set?" He pointed at her earrings.

"The pair of earrings is so beautiful. Wearing a necklace will take the focus away from the earrings. Besides, the neckline of the gown is a low-cut square neck. Would you like people’s gaze to be drawn to this part of my body?" Aryana animatedly pointed to her chest.

Erik’s eyes narrowed. He looked at her exposed skin which looked even fairer against the amber color of her dress. She was right. If you look at her, the first thing that you would notice would be the unique color and style of the dress and then her beautiful face and the earrings hanging on her earlobes.

"Okay, you know better. Let’s get going."

They walked side by side until they reached Erik’s private elevator.

"Tell me CEO Lee, how old were you when you were awarded the Most Outstanding CEO?" Aryana asked in a playful manner.

Erik pondered for a while. "I think I was 22. I just graduated from University."

Aryana’s eyes widened and her mouth opened wide. Then she gave him a sweet smile. "I am so lucky to have married such an outstanding man." She inched closer to him and hooked her hand on his arm.

Erik did not have the chance to speak. The elevator opened and they were in the basement.

"Then, you must feel proud because you are married to such an outstanding man." Erik leaned close to her ear.

"Of course I am. But I felt inferior and I cannot hold a candle to you." She said sadly.

"How can you feel inferior? You have accomplished a lot within the first year that you graduated from College. You have exceeded my expectations Yana. Previously, I did not think that you are cut out for business. I thought Cassie was better than you in this aspect." Erik paused because they reached the car. Ace was holding the door for them.

"Good evening Boss, Miss Jones." Ace greeted them politely. Erik nodded at him while Aryana gave him a smile.

Erik assisted Aryana when she got into the black Rolls Royce. He helped her arrange the skirt of her gown so it will not have creases on it. He then went around the other side and entered the car.

When the two people have settled in the back, Ace stepped on the accelerator and headed to the Polaris Hotel.

Aryana looked at Erik thoughtfully. He was very honest about his opinions. So he really thought that Cassie was good at business.

"By the way, how’s Timeless Beauty?" She was curious about Cassie’s company. She started with a big bang and the brand seemed to be popular, especially amongst the socialites.

"I think last month’s sales were not bad. She copied your business model and tapped e-commerce."

"Did she partner with you on kaleidoscope?"

"I referred her to the marketing director."

Aryana pouted. She looked at Erik under her long eyelashes. "Why do I feel that you are helping Cassie more than you are helping your wife?"
