Chapter 140: Dead End

In the afternoon, Marlon went back with Alex and Franco. They find Erik still on the bed andreviewing the CCTV footage of the accident.

"How are you Erik. I just woke up and learned that you were hospitalized." Franco studied Erik and he calmed down after seeing that he looked fine.

Erik asked Aryana for his laptop which Aryana handed to him. He played the video in the laptop and showed it to his friends.

"You see how the taxi driver accelerated instead of slowing down? It was his intent to hit the person who was crossing the street." Erik pointed at the screen.

"Where did you get this footage. Is it from King of Aces?" Alex asked.

"Who could it be other than him." Marlon said.

"What a scary man. So he can also hack our hospital records and just pull out any information he wants?" Alex’s facial expression was clouded with worry.

"You can hire him to fix you security so it cannot be hacked." Erik suggested.

"That’s a good idea. You should also be concerned. You are a major shareholder of this company."

"Marlon, I cannot share the CCTV footage with you. I don’t want to implicate King of Aces so try to get a copy legally."

Franco hasn’t seen Aryana after Cassie’s welcome banquet. He secretly studied her and find her pretty even without make up. Cassie has been pestering her to create opportunities for her and Erik. He tried a few times but he could tell that Erik doesn’t like Cassie anymore. He now felt guilty looking at Aryana.

"Guys, you want coffee? I’ll order delivery?" Aryana suddenly blurted out.

Franco smiled awkwardly. ’Wasn’t Erik poisoned by a coffee delivered to his office?’

"Why do you look like you are scared? Don’t tell me you also believed that it was Aryana who have me poisoned?" Erik’s eyes narrowed at Franco.

"That’s not what I meant. I just remembered that you were poisoned through the coffee so I have no appetite for coffee right now." Franco explained.

At an office in front of Gaeya Corporation, a man standing tall at 182 centimeters was facing the glass wall and staring straight across Gaeya Corporation’s logo. His assistant entered his office but dare not disturbed him. He was studying the back of the man of was wearing an expensive tailored suit. His back was straight and his broad shoulders squared. He was holding a cigarette in his fingers.

He placed the cigarette in his between his lips and took a puff. He then let out three successive ring of smoke.

"Speak!" His voice was cold and deep.

Beads of perspiration appeared on the assistant’s forehead.

"The matter about the taxi driver, it is already done Boss. The taxi fell off the cliff when the driver made a wrong turn. The taxi explode a few minutes after it fell." The assistant reported nervously.

"Good. Any news about Erik Lee?"

"He is currently recuperating in the hospital Boss. He was brought to the hospital in time and given the antidote."

The assistant saw that the man clenched his fist. His eyes however was still fixated on the top of the Gaeya Tower just across the street.

"You can leave now. Make sure that you left no traces on the taxi accident."

"Yes Boss!" The assistant hurried out of the room as if he was bing chased by the devil himself.

The man with a turned around and sat back on his chair. He flicked the ash at the end of his cigarette into the ash tray and put out the embed.

"Damn, you sure are lucky Erik Lee. But I am surprised that it would only take a cup of coffee to almost take you out. Next time you will not be that lucky anymore."

At the hospital, Erik has driven out his friends as the room was too crowded. He was contemplating whether to be discharged. However he still felt that his body was still weak and decided to recuperate in the hospital.

King of Aces called Erik. He said that he has completed an application that can determine whether food has poison or not. However the app needs to be attached to a special device where you need to place a sample of the food. The device would ’sniff’ and ’taste’ the food sample. It will send an alert if the sample is poisoned or not.

"I tested it with poison XX and a few other poisons and it detected it. King of Aces was excited and this was a rare moment for him to show his emotions.

"Good job kiddo. Think a name for your invention and we will apply for a patent. And send me the device. I’ll test it first. If I am satisfied then we can put it in the market."

King of Aces told Erik that he send the device immediately. He hung up in a good mood.

At six pm, Erik’s grandfather and father visited again. Soon Cassie and her grandfather arrived as well.

Even if the Erik’s ward was bigger than most of the wards, having too many people inside made the room crowded. Aryana was also not comfortable staying at the room with their visitors so she told Erik that she is going to visit Jessa on the fifth floor.

Erik nodded. She politely excused herself and silently left the room.

"How was the investigation?" Henry Lee asked.

"Weren’t you and Grandpa also are also investigating? How about you first tell me what the result of your investigation is." Erik challenged his father.

"Well, the delivery boy was hit by a car and died on the spot." Henry Lee started.

Erik was silent waiting for him to continue.

"The taxi driver who hit the delivery boy also met an accident. His taxi fell off the cliff and the driver was burnt with the car." Henry shuddered a little thinking of the driver’s gruesome death.

"Now we are at a dead end." His grandfather sighed.
