Chapter 137: He Is Worried About You

The words that Cassie were about to say, were left hanging on her mouth. Erik’s fierce glare silenced her. She felt that his gaze was piercing through her soul and she can hardly breathe.

"When did grandpa became so free and started spreading rumors?" He asked coldly.

"Erik, I...". Cassie stammered. "Actually it wasn’t Grandpa George who told my grandpa but it was your father."

"So it was my father." Erik sneered. ’What is trying to do this time?’

"He is just worried about you Erik."

Erik did not believe her. His father was maybe worried but it was because of the company but not because he looked after his welfare.

"He is only worried because the company might suffer losses if something happened to me." Erik said sarcastically.

"Erik..." Cassie said gently. "He is your father. Of course he is worried about you. Whose father wouldn’t worry about his son?"

The moment the words left Cassie’s lips she realized she said something wrong.

Erik sneered. "Look whose talking. Have you forgotten about how your father abandoned you?"

Aryana was uncomfortable listening to them talking about their parents. They knew a lot about each other. She escaped to the bathroom.

Cassie looked down to hide the glint in her eyes. She pretended to be sad. When she looked at Erik, her eyes were sparkling with unshed tears.

"Of course, I haven’t. But it is all in the past now. He already acknowledged me and so did Grandma and Grandpa."

Cassie looked pitiful. She wanted Erik to comfort her but Erik remained unmoving in the bed.

"Who sent you here? Is it Marlon?" Cassie was curious to know.

"Aryana found me at my office and she brought me here."

Cassie pondered at the information she has gotten from Erik. Why was Aryana on her pajama? She knew that Erik has a penthouse at the Gaeya Tower.

’Is Aryana staying there? Are they living together.’ She asked Franco about it but he has not answered her.

"Why don’t you ask Erik about it?" That’s what Franco told her.

But she doesn’t have enough courage to ask.

There was a knock on the door and a middle aged woman came inside with two paper bags and two thermo food containers.

"Sir, I brought you breakfast and a change of clothes." She looked around and wondered why Aryana was not in the ward.

Aryana came out of the bathroom and took the things from Maria.

"Thank you Maria. You can leave now."

Maria nodded and took her leave.

Cassie was feeling indignant. She has this nagging feeling that Erik and Aryana are living together and it was gnawing at her.

Aryana went back to the bathroom. Cassie heard the sound of the shower. She confirmed that indeed Aryana spent the night at the hospital. She clenched her fist.

"Is something bothering you?" Erik noticed Cassie’s frosty expression.

"So Aryana is the one who accompanied you here last night?" Cassie asked trying to sound calm.

"Is that strange? She is still my assistant you know. Marlon was also here last night but he left early in the morning."

Aryana went out of the bathroom. She has showered and has changed into a light yellow blouse with sleeves fitted around the shoulder and upper arm and flared out to the wrist like a bell. She paired it with a dark blue trousers. She looked comfortable and very casual on her clothes.

Her hair was still damp and she was drying it off with the towel. What Cassie hated the most was the fact that Aryana looked beautiful even without make up. She looked so refreshing.

"If you have something to do Aryana, I can stay here with Erik..."

"It is okay Cassie. He is my boss and this is still part of my job." Aryana cut her in. ’Why would I give her an opportunity to be with Erik. No way!’

’Damn this woman! She is really a pain in the ass.’ Cassie muttered to herself. She gritted her teeth.

"Aryana, call Marlon and tell him to bring my laptop here." It was the CEO and not her husband who spoke.

"On it Boss!" Aryana called Marlon and relayed to him Erik’s instructions.

Cassie heaved a sigh of relief. Erik and Aryana’s interaction were that of a boss and subordinate. But then she remembered the dinner they had at the restaurant by the bay. She was back to suspecting them that they had a special relationship.

She needed to get to the bottom of this. She cannot sleep peacefully at night until she can confirm whether Erik and Aryana are living together.

"I thought you are busy Cassie. You still have lots of preparation for the inauguration of your company."

"Speaking of that, can I discuss business matters with you here?"

"No you may not!" Before Erik can open his mouth, Aryana already answered for him. "He is sick and still recuperating so please don’t disturb her Cassie."

Cassie looked at Aryana with disbelief. ’When did this damn woman got the courage to speak on behalf of the powerful CEO of Gaeya Corporation?’

"And when did you have the power to speak on behalf of the CEO?" Cassie asked her sarcastically.

"I am not speaking as his assistant. I am speaking as his hospital companion who takes care of his health."

Cassie pursed her lips and looked at Erik expectantly.

Erik half-shrugged his shoulder. "I’ll listen to her. I am a patient now."

"Okay then, rest well and get well soon. I’ll leave first to attend to business matters. I’ll come back in the evening."

Erik just hummed. Aryana as Erik’s assistant sent her to the door.

Cassie threw a sideways glare at her. She was throwing daggers at her. ’How dare she reject her and why did Erik listened to her? It is unlike Erik at all.’

"Aryana, why do I have this feeling that you are driving me away." She said softly so Erik will not hear her.

"What are you trying to say? It was you who said that you need to leave first as you have business matters to attend to." Aryana said innocently. "If you want you can go back inside if you are reluctant to leave."

"No, it’s not like that. I am really going. I just have a question." Cassie pulled Aryana outside and they were both standing outside the corridor.

"Are you living together with Erik?"
