Erik lifted her shirt again. He was shocked to see a huge patch of purple on her waist.

"Who the hell did this to you?" His eyes was filled with fury.

"I hit the the edge of the bed earlier." Aryana explained.

"Is it my father? Did he slapped you too hard?"Aryana nodded.

Erik pursed his lips. "Does it hurt?" He asked.

"Just a little bit."

Erik rubbed his palms together and gently massaged the bruise.

Erik pressed the intercom again and instructed the nurse to bring an ointment for the bruise. The same nurse who brought the ice pack entered the ward. Aryana noticed that she had applied make up on her face and was smiling to Erik when she handed him the ointment.

Aryana just smiled. Erik was indeed a chick magnet. Women from all walks of life would surely be attracted to him and flirt with him.

"Here is the ointment that you asked me for Sir." The nurse said in a sweet voice. She let her fingers touched his palm. Erik glared at her and retracted his hand.

"You can leave now." Erik did not hide the disgust in his eyes.

"Thank you." Aryana thanked the nurse on behalf of Erik.

The nurse hurriedly left without looking back. She was scared by the way Erik looked at her like he wanted to swallow her alive.

Erik applied the ointment on Aryana’s bruises.

"Isn’t it funny? You are the patient and yet you are taking care of me." Aryana took the tube from him, replaced the cap and put it on the drawer beside the bed.

Aryana went to the restroom to freshen up. The ward was for VIP and toiletries were provided. Aryana was thankful because she doesn’t have anything with her other than her cellphone.

When she went out of the restroom, she headed to the couch beside the wall.

"Let’s go to sleep. It’s almost 3am." She said then she turned off the light above the bed. Only the dim light near the door was left open.

Erik looked at her and frowned.

"Come here." He beckoned her and tapped the space beside him. "Sleep beside me."

"Are you serious? The bed is so narrow. The nurses will also come later to check your vitals." Aryana protested.

"If you don’t come here then I’ll come to you." Erik pretended to get up from the bed. Aryana was beside him in no time. Without Aryana noticing it, Erik’s lips quivered into a smile. He moved a little to the right side of the bed to give space to Aryana.

The bed was really narrow so Aryana was on her side and Erik was spooning her. That was how they looked like when the nurses on the morning shift entered the ward to do their rounds. Aryana was embarrassed and she tried to get off from the bed. Erik chuckled.

Aryana called Maria and instructed her to bring them a change of clothes and porridge for Erik.

Alex came early and checked on Erik.

"You are really tough Dude. You survived a very potent poison." Alex’s voice was serious but he sounded like he was teasing Erik.

"I won’t die easily." He looked at Aryana dotingly. "I won’t allow her to become a widow."

Alex laughed.

"Have you identified what poison it was?"

"Yes. I’ll send the details to your email. I’ll take my leave now. I’ll come back later. I’ve arranged a nutritious light meal for you. You should eat the hospital provided food. I guarantee that it tastes good as what the 3 star Michelin chef cooks."

"Is that true Alex? How come last time when I was here, the food is so bland it tasted like paper."

"Ow, is that true?" Alex asked looking embarrassed.

"Well, maybe it is only me." Aryana was amused by Alex’s reaction.

Alex left the ward. The food was delivered right after.

"Hmm. The presentation looked nice." Aryana removed the plastic that wrapped the food tray. "Drink the soup while it is hot."

Aryana fed Erik with the soup.

"How does it taste?" She asked looking expectantly at Erik.

Erik took the spoon from her, scooped the soup and fed it to her.

"So how’s the taste?" He asked.

"Delicious." She answered. She took the spoon from Erik and resumed feeding him.

This was the scene that greeted Cassie when she entered the ward. Her face contorted in an ugly scowl but she hid it immediately and replaced it with a look of concern.

"Hi Erik. Grandpa told me that you are at the hospital so I came to visit you." Cassie said, her voice full of concern. She handed the fruit basket and the flowers to Aryana.

Erik frowned. He took his phone and became busy.

While Erik was on his phone, Cassie studied Aryana who was busy arranging the flowers and the fruits. Her gaze fell on Aryana’s legs. While she was wearing a trench coat, she was only on her pajama underneath.

’Did she came here straight from bed? Or did she spent the night in the hospital?’ Her eyes narrowed and her lips pursed into a thin line.

Aryana glanced at Erik and asked him. "Erik would you like some apple. I’ll peel and slice for you?"

"Didn’t the doctor said that I should have light diet only?"

"Okay then, let’s keep this for later."

Erik dialed a number and with his terse voice he ordered "Block out any news regarding my hospitalization."

Cassie felt uncomfortable. Was Erik mad because she learned that he was hospitalized?

"What happened to you? How did you get hurt?" She asked and approached the bed to get closer to Erik.

"It’s nothing serious. I just got a fever and a headache and passed out in the office."

"But Grandpa said that you were poisoned and the one who sent the coffee was Aryana..."

The words that Cassie were about to say, were left hanging on her mouth. Erik’s fierce glare silenced her. She felt that his gaze was piercing through her soul and she can hardly breathe.
