Chapter 135: It Wasn’t Her

"What are you implying? Isn’t it enough that she sent you a poisoned coffee? You almost died." Henry Lee yelled at him.

"It wasn’t her." Erik said with finality.

"The delivery guy said it was from her." Henry said tersely

"I said it wasn’t her." Erik stressed his words. "If it is Aryana, she wouldn’t be stupid enough to implicate herself by giving her name."

"Go home Grandpa, Dad. It is almost dawn. Go to sleep. When you wake up tomorrow, you will have a clear mind to investigate who the real culprit is." Erik’s voice was polite but there was an underlying meaning in it.

He glanced at Marlon.

"Send the police away. Let them investigate the delivery guy who sent the coffee."

Marlon accompanied the police officers out.

"The culprit must have known my relationship with Aryana and wanted to frame her. Investigate suspicious people in the company." Erik was still looking at Marlon but he stole a furtive glance at his father.

Marlon nodded.

Alex checked Erik’s vitals and when he found that he was alright he took his leave together with Marlon on the excuse that they needed to rest.

Erik looked at his grandfather and father.

"Why are you still here? It’s very late. Pleas go home. It’s not good for grandpa to get tired."

"You! Are you driving us away?" George Lee pretended to be hurt by Erik’s hinting them to leave.

"I’m tired Grandpa. I also want to rest."

The two senior Lees have no choice but to leave. When they were at the door, Erik’s voice chased them.

"By the way father, I will let it go today. But the next time you hurt Aryana, there will be consequences." Erik’s voice was calm but it sent a chill down the spine of both George and Henry Lee.

Henry Lee froze at the door. It took him a minute before he took a step and get out of the room.

"Dad, did you hear that grandson of yours? He threatened me! What is so good about that woman? Erik was enamored by her." Henry Lee was fuming as he complained to his father.

"I know. Erik is getting rebellious since he married that woman. Let’s find a way to separate them even if it requires eliminating her completely.

Erik and Aryana were finally left alone. Aryana hugged Erik and kissed him on the lips.

"You really scared me to death." She was panting after she lifted her lips from his.

"Silly girl, I will not die easily. Besides I won’t let you become a widow and let those flies buzzing around you have a chance. Erik teased her.

Aryana pouted. "You still have time to tease. Alex said if we were late by 30 minutes you could have died."

Erik lifted the intercom above his head. When he heard a voice on the other line, he asked the nurse to bring an ice pack.

"How did you find me?" Erik was curios.

"When I got home you were still not there so I messaged you but got no reply. I took a quick shower and when there was still no reply from you, I called your private number. It ringed but you did not pick up. I suddenly has a bad feeling and so I called Marlon. He said you were still at the office when he left. I went to your office and find you unconscious on the floor." Her eyes glistened because of the tears that were about to fall.

Erik held her chin gently and lifted her head so she was looking at his eyes. Her tears fell. Erik used his thumb to wipe them away.

The nurse came in and about to step out when she find the two people in the bed sitting intimately. But the patient requested for an ice pack.

"Sir, ... I brought the ice pack." She stammered.

Erik signaled for her to come in. She handed the ice pack to Erik and the nurse blushed when she saw how handsome Erik was.

Erik frowned when he saw the nurse in a daze. "You can leave now."

The nurse reluctantly hurried out of the ward.

Erik placed the ice pack gently on her swollen face.

"Give that to me. I can handle this. You lie down and rest."

Erik did not want give her the ice pack but Aryana forcefully took it from him. She adjusted the bed so Erik was lying in an inclined position.

"Did you know that the coffee was poisoned?" Aryana asked while pressing the ice pack on her swollen face.

"Not really but I have a hunch."

"Have you offended someone? Who would want to harm you?"

"A lot I guess. They wanted to have Gaeya Corporation." Erik was contemplating.

Erik caressed her swollen face. "Does it hurt?"

"A little bit." She answered honestly.

Erik hugged her at the waist. Aryana winced.

Erik frowned. He took off the trench coat. He discovered that Aryana was on her pajama.

"You went here just wearing that?" Aryana’s pajama was made of thin material so her undergarments can be seen through the fabric.

"I had the trench coat over it and never took it off." She looked at Erik and saw the displeasure on his face. "It’s an emergency. I didn’t have time to change and I am glad I did not because you will be at risk if I wasted time changing."

Erik lifted her pajama shirt. Aryana slapped his hand. "What do you think you are doing. We are at the hospital!"

"What are you thinking about Yana. I just want to know why you were in pain when I hold you here." Erik said innocently.

Aryana blushed. ’What is she thinking? Did she think that Erik will do something intimate to her?

Erik lifted her shirt again. He was shocked to see a huge patch of purple on her waist.

"Who the hell did this to you?" His eyes was filled with fury.
