Chapter 134: Send Her To Prison

Before the police can enter, they were distracted by the clink clank of a cane hitting the tiled floor of the corridor. An elderly man with a headful of white hair entered. He headed directly to where Aryana was standing, her hand covering her swollen face.

"Bitch!" He raised his cane and hit Aryana. Aryana dodged.

"How dare you dodged?" He hit her again but Aryana dodged again.

"I do not deserve your cane Old Mr. Lee, nor the slap earlier. What did I do?" She asked politely but she felt aggrieved. "Erik is still unconscious. Don’t you worry about him?"

"It’s because of you. You poisoned him." Henry Lee glared at her.

Aryana was taken aback. Young as she was, she thought that Henry Lee was narrow minded. ’Does he want me to be the fall guy and take the blame?’

"I did not poison him Mr. Lee. How could I do that? He is my husband."

"Who are you working for?" George Lee pointed his cane on her face.

Aryana was dumbfounded. "What do you mean Old Mr. Lee? I don’t I understand."

"You poisoned Erik and you pretend that you did not understand? You bitch!" He raised his cane to strike Aryana but Marlon and Alex came rushing in.

"Grandpa, why do you want to hurt Aryana?" Marlon stepped in front of Aryana to protect her. Erik’s close friends call his grandpa as Grandpa and his father as Uncle.

"Are you protecting her? How can you? She poisoned Erik!" George Lee was fuming. "Arrest her!"

Two police officers went inside and handcuffed Aryana. She panicked for a few seconds but then she realized that panicking will not do her any good. She breathed in and breathed out.

"You cannot arrest me without evidence." Aryana addressed the police officers.

"Grandpa, this is a misunderstanding." Marlon butted in. But he was worried that if Erik’s grandfather insisted on having the police take Aryana, he will not have the power to stop him. Only Erik can.

"Yes, Grandpa. If not for Aryana finding Erik and taking him to the hospital at the right time.." Alex paused. "If she was late by half an hour, Erik could have died."

Aryana shuddered. She looked at Erik, fear apparent in her eyes. Was it true that if she was delayed by a bit, Erik could have died?

The two senior Lees misinterpreted her actions as being guilty.

"I saw the CCTV. If the security head has not called me, you will not remember to inform me. I am his father." Henry Lee looked at Marlon, his eyes narrowed.

"Uncle, we were busy attending to Erik. I am about to call you but you are here now." Marlon explained.

Henry Lee just glared at him.

"What are you waiting for. Send her to the police station. I’ll have someone send you the CCTV footage later." George Lee commanded.

"Wait. That video is not a conclusive evidence. Anybody can say anybody’s name. You don’t have proof that indeed it came from me." Aryana tried to reason.

George Lee scoffed. "Send her away."

"You can’t take me away. I need to take care of my husband." Aryana was on the verge of crying but she tried to blink her tears away. She cannot show any weakness in front of Erik’s father and grandfather. She didn’t want to leave Erik when he needed her. Why were his family cruel to her?

George Lee glared at her. She held his gaze conveying what she felt inside. She was angry.

"Don’t make me repeat myself. Take her to the police station." George Lee barked. He was irked by the look that Aryana has given him just now.

The police dragged Aryana towards the door.

Marlon looked at Alex helplessly then at the man who was lying on the bed.

His eyes widened when he saw Erik’s cold and angry stare directed to the policeman who was dragging Aryana away.

"Let her go. How dare you handcuff her!" Erik roared. With how loud his voice was, no one would think that he just almost died.

The police officers froze.

George Lee frowned as he looked at Erik.

Henry Lee also looked at Erik and was surprised to see the anger in his face.

Aryana looked back. She finally let go of the tears she was holding back earlier when she was being humiliated. But her tears were tears of joy. She twisted her still handcuffed hands from the police the what was holding her and ran to the side of the bed opposite the senior Lees.

"Erik, thank God you are awake. I am so worried." She lifted her hands and took his and pressed it gently.

Erik’s eyes narrowed when he saw the handcuffs in Aryana’s hands.

"Don’t let me repeat a second time. Remove her handcuffs right now!" Erik’s loud voice filled the room.

The police officer hurriedly removed the hand cuffs and stepped back to create a safe distance between him and the bed. He felt a sense of deja vu. Wasn’t that what the elder Lee exactly said earlier? ’Don’t let me repeat a second time.’

Erik took Aryana’s hands and rubbed the area that reddened because of the hand cuffs.

"Are you hurt anywhere Erik? Do you like to eat?"

"I am alright Yana. What happened to your face?" Erik frowned when he noticed that her left cheek was red and swollen.

"It’s nothing. I just bumped into the table when we were taking you out of the office." Aryana did not want to lie but she cannot say the she was slapped by his father. It will only agitate Erik and will cause a rift between the two.

Henry Lee sneered. ’Looked like this woman is easy to bully.’

"She is the woman who poisoned you and yet you are so gentle towards her." George Lee finally spoke.

"Grandpa, looks like you are really getting old and has become senile."

"You." George Lee gritted his teeth.

"We saw the CCTV clip and the guard said the coffee was sent by her" Henry Lee interjected.

"And then?" Erik looked at his father, challenging him with his gaze.
