Chapter 133: Erik Was Poisoned

"I have to go. Tell the waiter to put the tab on me." He hurriedly left. He ran to his car and started the engine but he remembered Aryana told him to contact Alex."

He dialed Alex’s number and he picked up after two rings.

"What’s up?" Alex was surprised that Marlon called.

"Something happened to Erik. Aryana is on her way to the hospital. Be ready to receive him. Aryana said he passed out and cannot wake up."

"Okay, I’ll make arrangement now." Alex hung up.

Marlon put his cellphone on speaker and called the head of security department. "Check the CCTV footage at the CEO office. Check what happened to Erik and when he passed out and send the video to me."

He stepped on the gas pedal until it reached the floor. Cars were honking at him but he ignored them.

Aryana’s tears were flowing like torrents but she was not making any sound at all. Erik was so hot and she needed to calm down. She moved to the corner of the car to give more room for Erik’s body so she can lay him down on her lap. She needed to lower his temperature first.

She removed his neck tie and opened two buttons of his shit. She took a water bottle from the storage bin at the side of the car and wet her handkerchief.

She removed excess water from the handkerchief before wiping his forehead and his neck and exposed chest. She took a paper towel and patted the areas she wiped to ensure that Erik was dry.

"Erik, Honey, please wake up. Don’t scare me." She kept talking to him trying to wake him up while repeating the process of wiping his forehead his face and his chest with the damp handkerchief and patting them dry until they reached the hospital.

The driver had watched her and admired her calmness and her quick wittedness. If it was another person, she wouldn’t think of ways to lower down his fever.

Unknown to Aryana, the driver has turned the dash cam that captured the inside of the car. He wanted to please his boss and he can show the recording to him later. His boss will be happy right? And he might gave him a raise or a bonus.

Alex and a team of medical staff were already waiting at the entrance of the hospital. Erik was immediately transferred to a stretcher and wheeled to the emergency room.

Aryana briefed Alex on what time and how she found Erik. She also told him that Erik had very high fever based on how hot he was. His temperature seemed to have come down a bit when she wiped his face with water in the car.

"Good girl. You did right." Alex said before entering the emergency room.

Aryana was pacing at the corridor when Marlon arrived. He was still panting and sweating. It was obvious that he run.

"How is Erik?" He asked nervously.

"I don’t know. Alex just brought him inside." Aryana thought of something. "Have you checked the CCTV?"

"Yes, the security team is checking right now and I told them to send the video to me."

"Did you notice anything strange in the office when you found him?"

"I panicked when I saw him lying so still on the floor. I called the guard and driver right away. I only saw his cellphones on the floor."

Marlon received a notification on his cellphone. It was the CCTV footages when Erik had passed out and the things that happened before that.

At 7:00pm a guard knocked on his door and told him that there was a food delivery for him and it was a cup of coffee.

"Why would someone deliver him a cup of coffee at dinner time?" Aryana asked.

The guard said that the coffee was from Aryana Jones.

Aryana froze. "I did not send him coffee at all. Why would I, when Erik liked his coffee freshly brewed?" Aryana was baffled. Then she realized something which made her stomach churn.

’Someone used me to harm Erik.’ She suddenly felt her legs can’t carry her and she slumped in the nearby bench.

Marlon was a military officer so he already knew what happened. He left Aryana and went inside the emergency room.

"Alex, Erik was poisoned. Hurry and get the poison out of his system now."

"Poisoned?" Alex did not asked anymore. He did gastric lavage on Erik and administered activated charcoal while the poison used on him is not yet known. He sent the substances suctioned from his stomach to the laboratory.

Marlon went back to where Aryana was. She was slumped on the bench outside the emergency room and she looked so pitiful that even Marlon’s heart ached and he wanted to gather her in his arms to comfort her.

’Shit! What I am thinking. She is Erik’s woman. ’ He cursed himself.

He sat beside her and they continued watching the CCTV footage.

Erik frowned when he heard that it was from Aryana.

He continued working and then he subconsciously took the takeout cup and drank it. He then realized what he has done and cursed himself.

"Stupid!" After a few minutes, he passed out.

"Looks like the poison is very potent. It’s intent is to kill him. He even did not finish half the cup." Marlon was worried. He sent a message to the security team to ensure not to let someone get inside the CEO’s office.

"Erik realized that there is something wrong with the coffee?" Aryana asked. But then her husband wouldn’t be a successful CEO if he was not smart.

"Erik is intelligent. He also studied in a military academy. His only mistake is, he did it subconsciously and it was late when he realized it."

Alex went out of the emergency room.

"We already administered the antidote to Erik and he is safe now. He will be transferred to the VIP ward in a while. You can go there and rest."

He looked at Aryana and he was worried about how disheveled she was. Her eyes were still red from crying. Beneath the trench coat she was only wearing her pajama.

Aryana rejected Alex’s suggestion to go to the ward. She and Marlon waited for Erik to be wheeled out and they went with him to the ward.

Marlon left to attend to some paperwork on the admission.

Erik was put on a drip and he looked very pale. Aryana’s heart ached as she caressed his face.

The door opened. Aryana thought it was the nurse or Marlon so she did not even look up. She continued to caress Erik’s face and ask him to wake up.

She felt pain on her scalp as a big hand forcefully yanked her from the side of the bed.

"Pak." A hard slap landed on Aryana’s face. She staggered and hit the edge of the bed. She almost fell on Erik had she not supported herself with her hand.

"Arrest that bitch and make sure she rots in prison!" Henry Lee yelled at the police officers who were standing at the door.
