Chapter 110: Trouble At The Construction Site

At Gaeya Corporation, Erik came out of his office after almost two hours together with Cassie. Cassie was smiling broadly and wished that Aryana was there to witness it. She was walking on cloud nine. She took her sweet time explaining her business proposal to Erik and he was impressed. He did not know that Cassie has a good business acumen.

Erik asked for a glass of water from Camille. His throat was dry and started to itch. Looked like he had too much of the cookies. Without him realizing it, he finished the entire box.

Cassie thought that Erik was sending her to the elevator but he went to Aryana’s cubicle. He was greeted by an empty chair and a beautiful blue rose on a glass vase. He frowned. He looked at the trash can and saw the discarded box. He picked it up and checked the card.

’To Aryana, I hope this will brighten your day, C’

"C, who could this be? Could this be Clark?" Erik muttered. He threw the box back to the trash can with a bit of force.

Cassie lingered at Camille’s table making small talks but her gaze was following Erik. Her eyes widened when saw him pick up the box from the trash can.

’Isnt Erik a germaphobe? How can he casually pick up something from the trash can?’

He walked back to Camille’s table and frowned when he saw Cassie was still there.

"You’re still here. I thought you already left."

"I am leaving. I’ll send the contract to your email and I’ll ask my secretary to set up a schedule for the contract signing."

Erik just nodded. Cassie left gracefully. She was a bit disappointed because Erik did not send her off.

"I spent two hours with him and that’s already a great feat. Too bad Aryana was not around when we get out of Erik’s office." She murmured to herself as she entered the elevator.

"Do Aryana know who is sending her that single rose everyday?’ Erik asked Camille.

"No. She had no idea." Camille looked at her boss interestingly.

"Order for me three red rosebuds and send it to her everyday. Sign my name on the card." Erik said.

"Boss?" Camille looked at his boss a second time. When she saw him glare at her, she hastily added.

"On it Boss. Flower will be delivered starting tomorrow."

"By the way where is Aryana?"

"She and Marlon left for the Galaxy Park construction site. The workers were on strike and they went there to settle it."

"Why wasn’t I informed about it? It is a big issue."

"Boss, you said not to disturb you. Even Aryana reminded me when she came out after she delivered your coffee."

’Damn it. I think I indulged Cassie too much.’ He silently cursed.

"Cancel my meetings for the rest of the day and prepare the car for me. I’ll go to construction site now."

Erik called Marlon when he was in the car.

"Why did you not tell that there is such a problem in the site?" Erik’s voice was terse.

"Boss you were on closed door and on do not disturb mode. I sent you a message." Marlon was in a defensive mode.

Erik gritted his teeth. "Can’t you judge which one is more important?" Erik was exhasperated.

Marlon has a a confused expression on his face.

"Anyway boss, we are taking care of the issue. Besides the manpower is being handled by Galaxy Engineering and their CEO is here." Marlon explained.

"Gram is there? I thought he is still in the hospital."

"It is the acting CEO, his son ’Clark.’" Marlon emphasized the name of Clark.

A glint passed across Erik’s eyes. He ended the call and told the driver to hurry.

The workers at the site were still restless. The HR manager of their companh has already assured them that their pay will be credited to their bank accounts before the end of the day.

"That’s what you also told us last month. We trusted you but until now we don’t have our salary. How can we work when we do not have money to buy food?" An angry voice came from the back.

Soon other people started agreeing. They also started pushing and shouting profanities to the four people in front. Clark’s bodyguards were alert on the side.

"Calm down people. Your HR manager have already promised." Clark raised his voice so everybody can hear him.

"But he lied last month. How can we believe him now!" Another hostile voice shouted angrily from the back.

Clark glared at the HR manager. He was told by his dad’s secretary earlier that they were paying their subcontractors in a timely manner so there shouldn’t be any reason for them not to pay their workers.

The HR manager was sweating profusely.

"Call your CEO now. I want to talk to him." Clark barked at the HR manager.

The HR manager took out his cell phone and dialed a number. He waited for sometime but suddenly he heard robotic response. The beads of perspiration on his forehead were the size of mung beans.

Clark continued to glare at him.

’So Clark has this side of him. He looked domineering and has a powerful aura similar to Erik.’ Aryana thought.

The workers grew more restless as the HR manager continued to wait for his call to connect. Aryana suddenly felt a dangerous tension hanging in the air.

"F**k you. You are lying straight to our face." It only took one angry voice to ignite the anger and hatred in the disgruntled workers.

Both Marlon and Aryana felt the impending danger. Before Marlon can pull Aryana out of the angry mob they were separated as the workers broke through the security guards and surrounded them.

Clark’s body guards were quick to protect him and took him out to safety.

He looked around for Aryana and saw her amongst the sea of construction workers.

"Damn it! Go rescue her!" He ordered his bodyguards.

The bodyguards hesitated. Their order is to protect him but they also cannot defy his order.

Aryana felt a sharp object was pressed at her back. She stiffened.

"Don’t make a fuss or you’ll die!"
