Chapter 74: Stay away from him
Chapter 74: Stay away from him
Though they had told him to leave, Oberon knew quite well he would go nowhere. He had come here, and here he would stay.
He sighed, "What would happen if I saw her again?"
"She does not want to set her eyes on you, can you not see that?"
He held his head, "No, I have to see her, she should hear me out at least, before drawing her conclusions."
Dora was getting pissed, she faced Archi, "Come on, go sit beside your mother, watch her closely okay?"
He nodded, wiped his face and walked back inside.
She faced Oberon, "Be considerate, she passed out because of you and you still want to see her? What if something worse happens if she sees you again?"
He shook his head, "No way, nothing will happen to her, just let me see her again. I have really wronged her and I have to apologize."
"I do not think she needs an apology, she wants you to leave her alone, and it would be fine if you leave her alone."
"I can not go anywhere, I will not go anywhere," he said adamantly.
Dora squinted her eyes, "You are making this difficult for me," she held her head, "Please go away."
He shook his head, "No, I want to see her first, I promised to make everything right, why not allow me do it?"
Dora twisted her lips, "Are you trying to get your way because you are a man?"
He shook his head,"No, because I have to do what is right."
"She does not want you to be here, so respect her decision instead. If she does not want to forgive you and move on, then your apologies are just a waste, I do not think she is ready to forgive you."
Her words hit him hard, he closed his eyes, the statement burning through his insides.
"She..." he was short of words, "Oh, that is what you think," he bent his head, "Do not worry so much about it then," saying this, he left the room.
Dora held her chest and rested against the door, "Oh goodness," she whispered, trying to calm her racing heart.
...
Everywhere seemed to be darkness mixed with fire, it was jet black yet she could feel the fire’s heat as if it were next to her.
"What is happening?" She groaned, opened her eyes, and screamed. She was on the ground, in the midst of a large fire.
"Someone help! Help me!"
She looked around, "What am I doing here? Someone, anyone!"
There was no response, the darkness thickned despite the light coming from the fire.
She began to cough badly, her eyes tearing up, her lungs suffocating.
She sniffed, "Get me out of here, anyone, please!" She cried.
The flames increased, threatening to jump on her skin anytime.
She looked around, despair setting in, "Why am I..." she coughed.
"Someone should please help me! Help!" She screamed.
She covered her reddened eyes, "Ugh! Help!"
"Where are you?" She heard a masculine voice call out.
"I am in the midst of the flames, help me! Please, help!"
She heard footsteps advance towards her, she could feel a flicker of hope burn in her again. She coughed again, slowly losing her breath.
She hugged herself, the heat slowly burning her right before it got to her.
The fire seemed to stop burning all of a sudden, "Take my hand!"
She opened her eyes slowly, although her all whole body was numb, she did her best and reached out for his hand.
He took it and drew her out.
She felt a rush of fresh air blow into her lungs, "Oh my goodness," she whispered. He wrapped a arm around her and took her to a pool of water reviving her.
After she had regained some strength, she faced him, "Thank you so much. How can I ever repay you?"
He didn’t look at her, "Just forgive me."
"What do you mean?"
"I want your forgiveness, that is all I ask for."
"What have you done to me?"
He didn’t reply, he only stood up and walked away leaving her puzzled.
...
Nyx woke up with a start, gasping for air. She creased her brows, cleaning her forehead. She noticed the room was bit hot.
"Probably the reason, I saw fire," she told herself.
She wiped her forehead, and got down from that bed.
"What kind of a dream was that?"
She called out, "Dora? Archi?"
They both came into the room, "Nyx, are you fine now?"
She nodded, "Yes, I think so, I should be fine now."
She held her hand, "Sit down, Archi go get her some water."
Archi ran out to get some water.
"Is he gone?"
Dora nodded, "I told him to go away, I do not think he is around."
Nyx held her head, "How did he find me?"
"Archi brought him here," she said softly.
Nyx held her head, "I wish I did not see him, all I wanted was my son... Where is he?"
That moment, Archi came in, "Here is the water," he handed the glass of water to Nyx.
Nyx beckoned on Archi to come closer, "My son," her eyes teared up.
Archi went to her and melted in her bosom.
"What happened to you?" She asked.
Archi exchanged glances with Dora, she nodded at him. He narrated everything that happened, without missing out on a single detail.
Nyx’s heart kept skipping beats throughout Archi’s narration. She gulped down nervously.
’I have to make sure Archi never sets his eyes on him again lest they develop this father-son bond.’
"Now listen to me very carefully Archi, stay away, and I will make sure you do. Now he knows where we live, he might come here frequently. He is not your father so stay away from him."
"Then who is my father?" He pouted, close to tears.
Nyx felt sorry for him but she had no choice, "I am so sorry Archi, but with time all these would be explained to you. For now, accept it that way."
Archi sniffed, wiping his eyes. Dora patted his back, "It is for your own good dear."
He nodded, "Okay, I will stay away from him," he said sadly.
Nyx sniffed and pulled him into a hug, this was going to be a hard one for her.
