The Alpha's long lost heir
Chapter 232: A disguise fallen

Chapter 232: A disguise fallen

Archi ran all the way to the servant’s quarters, he didn’t stop, he didn’t even try to answer the guards who panicked because he was running, he just ran nonstop till he got the guard’s quarters.

He ran to his room, opened the door, then slumped on his bed.

His heart was hammering in his chest, what happened back there

Oberon had called him son. He took off his mask, putting it beside him.

Tears sprang to his eyes, "This was not the plan," he whispered, his heart refusing to stop beating so fast.

He exhaled deeply, facing the ceiling. He patted his head, even spoke kindly to him.

He shut his eyes tight, trying to shut that image out of his hand, but it came back.

Tears pricked the corners of his eyes, "Calm down, calm down," he said to himself.

He sat on his bed, wiping his eyes with his thumb.

"Ugh," he cursed under his breath, "Should I still go on with this?" He bit his lower lip, "Should I still forgive him?"

"Of course not, I am not forgiving him," he said in a hoarse voice. He looked over to his roommates who were sleeping.

He wanted to at least wake one of them up, and pour out his heart to them, but then that could cause some trouble for him.

He held his head, clenching his jaw, "I stabbed him," he whispered, his eyes widening.

"Would he notice who did it?" He scratched his head, sniffing.

He hugged himself, his heart pounding in his chest. What should he have done at that moment? Nothing was going as planned, and it was freaking him out.

"Agh, what should I do?" He gritted his teeth, "Poisoning did not work, killing him in his sleep did not work, what will?" He bit his fingernails.

He thoughts wandered to his mother, "Mother?" He narrowed his eyes.

"I do not think she would want to do that," he shook his head, "No, I will not stain her hands with blood," he wiped his nose, "I will do this by myself."

He clasped his hands together, "Calm down, and think," he held his head, trying to think of something else.

He rested against the wall, letting the tears that have been clinging to his eyes for too long, steam down his face.

"Now, my conscience clashes with my heart," he closed his eyes, tears still rushing down his cheeks.

Someone stirred on their bed, yawning loudly. It caused him to flinch.

"Wh-"

It was Axel. He noticed Archi beside the wall, teary faced.

His brows knotted together, "What is the matter Logan? Are you crying?" He asked, his voice muffled.

Archi wiped his face, "No."

Axel stood up from his bed, walking to sit beside him, "Is something the matter? Tell me."

He sniffed in, "Everything is too much, I just do not know what to do."

"What is happening? Talk to me," he held his hand.

"Can I trust you?"

Alderon was also waking up at the moment. He stirred on the bed, yawning, "Hmm."

They both looked at him. He flickered his eyes looking at them, "Oh, what happened?" He sniffled, wiping his face.

"Logan is feeling sad," Axel announced.

His eyes finally flung open, "What happened?" He sat up.

Axel looked back at him, "Yes, what happened?"

"There is something I think I should tell the both of you," he hung his head.

"Yes?"

Alderon got intrigued, then also went to sit at the other side of Archi.

"Okay, can I trust you?"

"You can trust us. We are your roommates after all."

He hung his head, letting his disguise fall off. Both of them gasped loudly, "What?"

"I am not Logan," he announced, "My real name is Archi."

They gawked at him, "Archi.. wait that name sounds familiar," Alderon chipped in.

"Wait.. you are.. the king’s," Archi covered his mouth with his hand, "Shh! Someone will hear you!"

Axel nodded, "Sorry, I was excited."

Alderon completed his statement, "Are you the king’s heir? You are his real heir?" Alderon s lips quivered.

He nodded, "Unfortunately."

"What.. how.. why are you here then? As a guard?"

Archi let another tear run down his cheeks, "That is a long story."

"Your majesty," they both fell to their knees, doing an obeisance.

Archi held them up, "Stop this, I am not even in the king’s court, I am not his son."

They whipped their heads up in a puzzled manner, "How? The king wants you back really. He really misses his family."

Archi scoffed, "As if," his face hardened.

"I am wondering, why did you guys leave? The king had really established his powers since you left. After what his uncle did to us, he had made sure we were fully protected, so no more intruders can come in," Axel explained.

"Oh, what about his uncle?"

"He was executed. Your mother’s sister was sent on an exile, she is to return next year," Alderon added.

Archi sighed deeply, "I want to kill him."

"What? Why?" They asked in unison, their eyes almost popping out of their sockets.

"He did a wrong twenty years ago, I came to right that wrong," he balled his fists.

"But...your highness.."

"It is Archi," he corrected.

"Archi," Axel coughed, "I.. do not think that is necessary sir, why not talk it out with him?"

Archi tilted his head to look at him, "Why are you sounding like my mother all of a sudden?"

"Yes, you could just go ahead, and talk to him, I am sure he would be happy to receive you back."

He rose to his feet, "I do not want a life with him anymore. He should have been there when I needed him most," he folded his arms grudgingly on his chest.

"But.."

"You both do not know anything!" He lashed at them, "It is much harder than you think it is."

Alderon crouched, "How bad could it be?"

"How bad could it be?" He faced Alderon, "Really?"

"Is your father still alive?"

Alderon swallowed, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead, "Yes."

"Did he abandon you during your childhood?"

Alderon swallowed hard, "N-No."

"He watched you grow up?"

"Yes."

"Did you hunt for your food?"

"No."

"Did he send you off to the market just to make ends meet?" He was now towering over him, his grey eyes boring into Alderon’s soft blue eyes.

Axel just watched, not attempting to say even a word.

"Exactly, you do not know what I went through as a child. At night, I had to watch my mother cry over, and over again. Of course, I was too young to understand my father was at fault.. till I realized."

Axel pouted, "I am sorry Archi, it must have been really hard for you."

"It still is," tears welled up in his eyes again.

"Look what it has turned me into," he brought out his blooded dagger, "A murderer with no heart."

"I now kill, all because I want to get back at him. This is not what I wanted in the first place," he croaked, falling to his knees.

They quickly held him, "We are sorry your highness," Axel spoke up, "If there is anyway we could help you.."

He shook his head, "No, let me carry my burden alone," his tears fell to the floor.
