Chapter 212: One tough decision

"It has been five minutes now, do you still think she’s close by?" Archi rested his head against one of the tree’s stamp. Thane wiped his sweaty forehead. They had created a large fire, yet there was no sign of Nyx, but her scent was still strong around there.

"I think we should have just traced her scent instead," he got up, and sighed, "Damn it, I am tired," he gulped, ’I still can not give up yet."

"There is no reason for you to," Thane patted him, "We could just wait a little..."

"Archi! Thane!"

They both whipped their heads in the direction of the voice. Nyx with outstretched hands came running towards them, "Mother?" He rose to his feet, running to meet her as well.

Nyx with tears in her eyes, ran into Archi’s arms, "Archi my son!" She broke down sobbing.

"I found you," Archi whispered, hugging her tightly, "I thought I lost you mother," his voice broke.

Thane grinned feeling so satisfied, he came over to meet them.

"Thank goodness you are safe mother," Thane chipped in. Nyx disengaged from Archi’s embrace, "Oh Thane my dear," she wrapped her arms around him. They stayed like that for a while.

"I saw the smoke from afar, and I had to rush here immediately, my instinct was telling me you both might be here, it was true!" She disengaged from Thane’s embrace as well.

"See? I told you the fire was a good option," he chuckled, punching Archi on the shoulder.

"Of course you did," he rolled his eyes taking Nyx’s hand.

"Let’s leave from here," he tugged at her hand.

"Will you not put out the fire out first?" She wiped her nose.

"It will die out by itself,’ Thane shrugged.

Nyx shook her head, "No, it will spread, and cause havoc. Can you not see dry leaves, and branches everywhere?"

"You worry too much mother, it will die out by itself, why are you worrying so much? We should leave," he took her hand, "Come on, let us go."

"Are you sure about this?" She glanced at the both of them, then back at the fire.

"Yes," they chorused.

"Well, okay," she shrugged.

"Can we leave now? We have to be back at the palace before nightfall."

Nyx threw him a quizzical look, "What? Palace?"

"Yes."

"Why are we going to the palace Archi?" She withdrew her hand from his, "Tell me what is going on? I thought you were the only one going? Why us?"

"Mother, it is a very long story, and I do not think we can start arguing about it now."

"Mother listen, if you want Archi’s mission to be smoother, you might want to do as he says," Thane chipped in.

Nyx shook her head, "I am not going back there," she began to walk away annoyed.

"Mother," he called after her, "Please listen to me."

"I do not want to listen. I already said I will not go back there," she increased her pace.

Archi groaned.

"This is harder than you thought it would be," Thane walked up behind him, "What are you going to do now?"

"She has to come with me. With her, everything will go more smoothly, she has to understand that," he balled his fists, "Come on mother! Listen to me."

"Archi, you already know the reason I can not go back there, right?" She paused in her tracks, spinning around to face him, "Why can you not understand? You do know I am fully not in support of you being in that place!"

He rolled his eyes, "Why are you complicating everything? Just please calm down, and allow me to explain everything."

Her mouth fell open, "I am making everything complicated? What?" Her eyes widened.

Archi held his head, "Oh no, no."

Thane tightened his lips, giving Archi a weird look. He nudged his arms, "What have you said to her?" He gasped.

Nyx just spun around walking away without saying a word.

"Archi, look what you have caused," he hit his arm, "Why would you say that to he?"

Archi stood akimbo, feeling weak, "Oh good goddess," he hung his head.

"Do not just stand there, go after her!" He pushed him slightly.

Archi ran after her, "Mother wait, just listen to what I have to say at least."

"Just please go back to the palace then. Let me be," she snapped.

Archi knew he had screwed up, "Okay, I am sorry, I did not mean that mother, just listen to me.. please."

She tilted her head to look at him, "Then what is it?"

"Listen mother, I know you do not want to go back there because of Oberon, but.. please you just have to come with me, with you around, revenge on father would be way easier."

"Revenge.." she repeated after him.

"Yes, you are not letting him go free, even if you want to.. I will not let you."

Nyx pursed her lips, her heart threatening to burst open.

"I do not think I can go back," she looked away, "I do not want to see him again."

"You do not still love him, do you?" Thane asked, propping his chin. She was already piquing his interest.

Archi placed his hands on her shoulder, and made her face him, "Do you still love him?"

Did she still love him? Of course not, not after what he had done to her, how could she still love him? But.. there were sometimes a part of her still yearned for him.

"Mother?"

She hesitated, then shook her head, "No, no.."

"You are sure about that?" Archi squinted his eyes.

"I am, I.. do not love him," she stated firmly, "Although.. he is my mate."

Thane and Archi exchanged puzzled looks, "You mated him?" Archi scrunched up his nose in disgust, "What?"

"Yes.. that was a long time ago."

Archi gently removed his hands from her shoulder, "Mother," he frowned, "Now, you have made things more complicated. Why would you mate him?"

"He was the one who did it, am I the one who would give him the mark first?"

Thane chuckled, "That is not what he meant, he is trying to say why you would let him mate you even though you had a problem with him."

She paused, "Oh.."

Archi sighed, "Thane, we have to go to your house, and deal with her wardrobe, father must not under any circumstance recognize her scent."

Thane nodded, "Of course, that would be taken care of."

Nyx gave them annoyed looks, "Why are you both treating me like I am some child here?"

"We are only taking care of you mother, now let us go,’ Archi held her hand, "We have things to do."
