The Alpha's long lost heir
Chapter 210: One man down

Chapter 210: One man down

Axel looked at the gate for the umpteenth time, where was he?

He clenched his fists, "I do not know how much longer I can keep covering up for him," he exhaled deeply, scratching his neck nervously.

Alderon walked up to him, "He still has not returned, has he?"

He shook his head, "No, I still do not know where he went. He just left, and did not tell anyone where he was going, what if.."

"Hopefully, he should return this morning," he patted his shoulder, "Stop worrying so much," he shrugged.

Axel nodded, but he still couldn’t shake off the bugging feeling in his heart.

"We still have to find him, what do you think?" Axel spoke up.

Alderon whipped his head to the side, and gave him a quizzical look, "Look for him? Are you being serious right now? Do you want to leave your post right now to look for him?"

Axel grunted, "He is our roommate now, we have to look out for him."

Alderon bit his lips, "As much as I agree with you, we still can not leave our posts to look for him, we could lose out jobs."

Axel exhaled even deeper, you are right," he slightly shook his head, "we just have to wait for him to come back, huh?"

"Exactly."

Zane saw them whispering. He arched his brows wondering what they were talking about so early in the morning, "Hey! The both of you!"

They tilted thier heads in his direction, when they saw it was Zane, they immediately ran to meet him.

"Good morning sir," they greeted simultaneously with their heads bowed.

"You are the roommates of that strange omega, are you not?" He grunted.

They nodded.

"Speak!"

"Yes sir."

"Where is he?" He twisted his lips.

Axel glanced at Alderon with a worried look on his face, Alderon decided to speak up, "We have not seen him since last night sir.. he must have gone to a different post to serve.."

Zane snorted, "You all were on duty last night!"

"I was not sir," Alderon sighed.

Zane shot him a deadly look, "Oh really? You were not?" He growled.

Axel shook his head in disgust, this man was sure getting on everyone’s nerves.

"He was not on duty last night, sir. I was," Axel slightly raised his hand, secretly rolling his eyes.

"Then where is he?" He directed his question to Axel.

"I have not seen him since last night, so I can not say where he went to," he shrugged.

Zane’s eyes grew dangerously dark, "You let a guard slip away without reporting to me?" He struck him hard across the face, "Such insolence!"

Alderon gawked at Zane, his eyes popping out of their sockets, he just raised his hand!

"This is not acceptable sir! That is bullying!" Alderon snapped at him. He had had enough of this Zane.

Zane sneered maliciously at him, "Who says it is bullying? I am only trying to put him in his place."

"The king will hear of this!" He threatened.

"Your friend here would be the one in trouble, not me," he chuckled darkly, "Now get out of my sight!" He snapped, and walked out on them.

Alderon held Axel, "Axel," he called softly.

Axel only shook his head. If Logan was here, he would have put him in his place.

"I am fine," he assured him.

"Let us get out of here," he led him away.

Thane stooped down to hold his knees, breathing hard, "Have you been able to smell her now?"

"No. She was not around this place either," Archi palmed his face in frustration, "Damn it!"

"We have to keep looking for her then." Just then, his stomach growled loudly.

"Have you had anything to eat since yesterday?" Archi tilted his head to look at him.

Thane practically gave up, and sat on the ground, "We were about to have dinner before the rogues attacked, so no."

"Ah, you poor thing," he came back to ruffle his hair, "We might probably find some fruits around here," he looked around, spotting a tree.

"Like that one," he pointed to the tree giggling.

"I am thirsty, and tired, how come we have not found her yet? Where could she have possibly gone to?" He groaned, his face was red-hot.

"We will find her, do not beat yourself up," he stretched out his hand, "Let us go have some of those fruits," he helped him to his feet.

"I know you are tired," he pulled him into a hug, "We will find her soon, and this will all be over."

Thane melted in his arms, "I hope so."

They disengaged from the hug, and together, they both walked to the tree.

"Ooh, an apple tree!" Thane’s eyes brightened, "Yes!" He ran towards the tree, leaving Archi walking behind him.

He soon arrived at the tree, climbing it as quickly as he could. He picked as many apples as he could because he was very hungry.

"Apples incoming!" He threw some of them to the ground, while Archi had to catch every single one of them, "Slow down!" He tapped his feet.

"I am coming down Archi!" He shouted, immediately jumping down. Archi was unprepared for that causing Thane to collide with him, knocking the apples away.

"Thane!" Archi yelped, "Looked what you have caused!" He pushed Thane away.

Thane rubbed his head, "Sorry," he got to his feet, picking up the apples that had rolled farther away.

"This is the last of it," he wiped his forehead.

When he had picked up the last one, his eyes caught sight of little footprints, at once the scent hit his nose.

"Archi! Come over here!"

"What is it?" He rushed over to where Thane was, the scent also waffling across his nose.

"Wait.. she.. my mother passed this way!" In his excitement, the apples fell out of his hands.

"Come on, we have to follow her prints, and her scent too," Thane took a large bite out of his apple, and began to follow Nyx’s supposed footprints.

"Oh, my apples," Archi re-picked his apples, and immediately walked behind Thane.

"Finally!"
