Chapter 206: Capture the vampire

Thane held an unconscious Carmilla in his hands.

"Carmilla," he whispered, "Wake up," his voice broke. He looked around in panic, "What are we supposed to do? I don’t know anything about vampires."

He gently laid a bleeding Carmilla on the ground, without cue of what to do.

"There must be something I can do.. uh.. would a werewolf healing method work on him?" He grunted.

"No, I do not think so," he shook his head, "He is of an entirely different specie, of course it would not work," he gritted his teeth.

He held his chin in thought, "Wh- what would work?’’ he tried racking his brain trying to remember if he knew anything about vampires at all.

There was one thing he knew, vampires did like a lot of blood, "Would that help? Would my blood work?" He squinted his eyes.

Thane was too distressed to ask himself further questions, "They like blood, blood should be able to help him."

Thane sighed deeply, "For you Carmilla," he bit his hand hard.

Blood immediately began to seep out of his arm. Gazing at Carmilla’s wound, he nodded, "Please work," he held his breath, holding his hand directly above Carmilla’s wound.

His blood dripped directly into Carmilla’s wound, "I hope this works, please work, please work," he prayed silently.

When he thought his blood was enough, he withdrew his hand, tearing a piece of shirt, he wrapped it around his hand.

Thane waited for a while, hoping he would see instant signs of recovery, but he was disappointed, "What is going on? I thought it would be an instant.."

Little by little, Carmilla’s wounds began to cover up with a piece of flesh. His eyes brightened, "Yes!" He wiped the corner of his eyes with his thumb, "Thank goodness," he whispered.

"He will definitely wake up," he grinned confidently.

A few minutes later, he heard some voices.

"Where did they go? They must have come in this direction," he heard a sonorous voice say.

"Keep looking! I saw a vampire with him!" Another voice boomed.

Thane’s heart sank, these strange rogues were not after them, they were after Carmilla only!

"What do they want from him?" A cold sweat broke out on his forehead, "How do I get out of here?" He clenched his fists, and glanced at Carmilla’s wound, that was now almost covered up.

"Search every corner! Do not leave any stone unturned! Make sure you find them, and capture that bloody vampire!" The angry voice roared.

Thane adjusted a bit to see the faces of who were searching for Carmilla. He outstretched his neck little, and caught sight of a small pack of rogues angrily searching for them.

"Oh no, how do I get out of here?" He squinted his eyes. He darted his eyes, "Uhm, I have to distract them," he bit his lips.

He looked again at Carmilla, his wound was now completely covered up with flesh in its place, but Carmilla was still unconscious.

"Carrying him would slow me down," he thought to himself when he thought of carrying Carmilla over his shoulder, and fleeing.

"Dragging him along would even be worse!" He groaned lowly.

"Check behind that tree! Come on!"

Thane flinched, "They’re talking about this particular tree," he groaned.

"I can not let them see us," he shook his head, and looked behind him. There were no bushes in which they could hide while escaping.

"Damn it!"

He heard voices coming in his direction, "No way."

The rogues kept running towards the tree with a mad force, "Make sure to drag them out if you see them!" The rogue who appeared to be their leader thundered.

They soon arrived at the tree, but they found no one there, "There is no one here."

The rogue leader quickly ran towards the tree too, "What do you mean there is no one here?" He also looked behind the tree, but he also saw no one.

"Wait.. they are not here? I thought they had come in this direction?" He growled.

"We just have to keep looking."

He stamped his left foot, "I need that vampire brought to me dead or alive! Make sure to find him, and bring him to me! Now! Go! Go! Go! Find them!" He yelled.

His men ran out in different directions to continue searching for them.

...

Thane with an unconscious Carmilla slung over his shoulder, kept running at a slow pace. When he noticed he was in danger of being seen, he had to quickly sling Carmilla over his shoulder, and slip away before any of the rogues could see him.

He was sweating so much, and was tired as Carmilla was weighing heavily.

"We will get out of here, "I promise," he whispered, and kept running. He was heading towards the bushes, with no idea of where he was going to, but he had to go away from those rogues who wanted Carmilla.

"What do they even want him for?" He asked no one breathlessly.

The sun was already rising in the east. They had been up all night.

He gulped, and shook his head, "All night. Not again," he groaned.

He continued his race to an unknown destination, "if only I could get out of their reach," he reached a small cave, "Phew!" He ran towards the cave, and laid Carmilla there.

"We could stay here for the time being," he nodded totally breathless.

He collapsed on the ground next to Carmilla heaving, "Oh," he exhaled deeply.

He looked at Carmilla, "You still don’t want to wake up?" He gritted his teeth, "Do you know the emotional tormoil I’m in right now?"

He slammed his fists on the ground, "Curse those rogues!"

He rested his head against the walls of the cave, saying nothing for a moment. In times like this, he missed Archi a lot.

"To think that I have not even saved his mother," he shook his head in disappointment.

His gaze shifted to Carmilla, "Now, how do I wake you up?" He exhaled.

H

"Healing your wound, I had to cut myself, waking you up requires cutting myself too?"

He closed his eyes, tired from too much running.

"What am I going to do?" He sighed, his eyes red.

He placed his hands on his legs hopeless, too tired to speak to act.

After a few minutes, Carmilla’s hands moved. Thane’s eyes brightened, "Carmilla?" He called.

He flickered his eyes open, coughing gently.

Thane sat on his knees waiting for him to open his eyes fully, "Hello? Wake up," he whined.

Carmilla coughed again, opening his eyes. He caught sight of Thane, and a small smile played at the corner of his lips.

"Th.. ane."

Thane’s eyes watered, "Carmilla," he crawled towards him, "Carmilla, are you okay?" He gently caressed his face.

"Water.." he whispered.

Thane’s face went blank, of course there was nowhere he could get water from around here.

"I.. do not have it."

"But.." he gasped, and coughed, "I am.. thirsty."

Thane gritted his teeth, feeling sorry for him, "There is no water," he shook his head.

He tried to help Carmilla sit down, but he was too weak.

"I do not want to sit down," he said softly.

"Are you sure?"

"Hm."

Thane sat beside him, "You will be fine in no time. Let me go look for some water," he got to his feet, "I will be back soon."

"Wait.. do not leave me," he said weakly, "I do not know what might happen to me if you go."

"Nothing will happen. You are thirsty, let me quickly find water, and come back to give it to you okay?"

"Thane," he called, his eyes pleading, "Please do not leave."

Thane furrowed his brows, "Do not worry. You said it yourself that you are thirsty, let me go find it, I will be quick, I promise," he gave him a reassuring smile, but before Carmilla could say anything else, Thane was gone.

Thane had to run around in an attempt to quickly scan the area, looking for water so he could return back to Carmilla soon.

For ten minutes, he kept running around, looking for a small pool of water perhaps till he found a river. He was relived, but then he had no gourd.

"Now, where do I get a gourd?" He asked no one in particular. He looked around, hoping to find a small gourd. His eyes fell on a small curved piece of wood. He was helpless, and he would make do with anything at this point.

He picked it up, and walked towards the river. He scooped some water.

"This should quench his thirst, and strengthen him a little," he smiled softly.

Without wasting any more time, he ran back to where he had left Carmilla, his heart unusually pounding in his rib cage. He arrived at the cave, hearing some struggling sounds as he got closer.

He creased his brows, and ran faster towards the cave.

The gourd fell from his hands, and broke on the ground. The rogues looked back at him, while his gaze fell on a stabbed Carmilla on the ground.
