Chapter 205: Weakling

Heel slammed the ground as Archi kept increasing his pace by the minute. He was drenched in sweat, his breath coming out in short loud gasps, but he didn’t stop running, not when he knew his mother was in trouble.

"I am coming mother," he gasped.

His house was a few meters away, so he tried pushing himself to the limit. He increased his pace yet again.

"I knew leaving her behind was a bad idea, I should not have thought of that," he said, regretting his action, "Please moon goddess, keep her safe, I beg you," he gritted his teeth.

He ran until he could get a full view of his house, "I am almost there," he assured himself.

He eventually reached his house, bursting through the front door.

"Mother?" He looked around, but got no response.

A sharp scent hit his nose, and he scrunched up his nose. It was not a familiar scent, "Someone was here.." he drew in one sharp breath, "A lot of them," he clenched his fists.

"Rogues!"

He sneered, and turned around on his heels, "Where did they go to now?" He sucked in his lower lip.

He stepped outside, searching for any sign of something with which to track them down.

Their scents still hovered in the air, but their footprints were nowhere to be seen.

"Damn it!" He snapped.

He took a few steps backwards, placing his hands on his waist, "Breathe in Archi, calm down, and think," he mumbled.

"Follow their scents," the corner of his lips went up.

He closed the door behind him. He began to follow the direction the scents were leading him to.

"I am coming, mother," he said again for the one thousandth time.

Nyx was tired from running too much. She had managed to lose the rogues, fortunately for her.

"Thank you moon goddess," she said with a breathy whisper, "Thank you," she sat down on a small piece of rock.

She could feel her heart pounding hard in her rib cage, "Oh dear," she was still breathing hard, "I have to get out of here soon enough," she gulped down loudly.

She closed her eyes, her breath coming out in short gasps. She turned her head to look backwards to see if anyone was still coming after her.

"Phew," she wiped her forehead.

She got to her feet, "Let me get out of here," she began to walk in another direction, hopefully she could lose Draven and his men even further if she went this way.

Mate. His words came ringing in her head.

"That can not be possible, I did not even smell his scent," she muttered, "What was he ranting on about?" She rolled her eyes, "Tsk."

She propped her chin with her right hand, still breathing hard. She gulped, and looked around, realizing she was in the middle of nowhere.

"Where do I go from here? I do not even know my way around here," her breath hitched in her throat.

Sweat broke out on her forehead, she bit her lips still confused, "Please I hope I do not run into vampires, I can not stand those creatures," she wobbled forward.

Still looking around for any sign of familiarity, her leg hit a stone she had not seen before on the ground, tripping, she fell face flat on the ground.

"Ah!" She groaned, and her eyes met with her bleeding big toe, "What? This is not a good sign," she reached for her toe, and moaned again.

"That is her over there!" She heard a voice. In her horror, she turned her head over her shoulder to see one of Draven’s men.

"How?" Her eyes widened in horror. She managed to get to her feet, and took to her heels.

"Come on, get her! You can not miss spending a night with her."

Nyx’s heart sank, a night with her? She flared up. What was Draven taking her for? A piece of toy?

She clenched her fists, stopping abruptly, her eyes burning with unshed tears.

"What do you both take me for?" She asked quietly.

The men caught up with her, panting heavily. They were huge, dark skinned, and had rough hair. They both looked over five hundred years old.

"Now where do you think you are going?" One of them gripped her on the wrists.

"Let her bask in some kind of euphoria Vlad,She thinks she could run, and get away with it," he laughed.

"Do not start acting all strong all of a sudden, you are a weakling and nothing more," the one who was now Vlad grinned sheepishly.

Nyx felt those words pierce her heart like a knife. That was all she had been told over the years, no one had ever appreciated her worth, or the strength she tried to show. Everyone had always thought, and seen her as a weakling, where did she go wrong?

"I am not a weakling!" She cried, and kicked Vlad so hard in the groin. Without thinking twice, she brought out her dagger, slashing his face before he could even react.

The other one was too shocked to react for a while, instead of reaching for Nyx, he held Vlad.

"Vlad! It is a silver dagger," he panicked.

Nyx saw this as an opportunity, and stuck the knife in him from behind. His eyes diluted in his sockets, and he began to choke.

Vlad held him, "Maximus," he managed to say.

Nyx kicked Maximus, making him fall forwards, crashing into Vlad. They both fell to the ground, too weak to react.

"I will not take any more of this," her eyes were now blurry with tears, "I am not a weakling! I can stand up for myself! I was never a weakling!" She gritted her teeth, and slashed Maximus’s ear, almost cutting it off. She slashed the back of his neck, his shoulders, his back, leaving Maximus to yelp in pain.

"I will show you who a weakling is," her pupils dilated, her nose flaring in rage. She stabbed him once, and then again, and again, and again till Maximus stopped moving.

Vlad watched in horror. His eyes widened as he looked back at the supposed weakling.

"Please.." his words caught in his throat.

A grin appeared at the corner of her lips, "I think you must be tired of staying here, why not go over to see what the moon goddess looks like?" She slammed the dagger in his throat.
