Nyx’s jaws dropped, "What?"

An evil grin curled up at the corner of his lips, "Are you surprised? You should not be," he shrugged, placing a hand on her chin, "You belong to me now."

Her legs weakened, "But...how?"

His eyes turned red again, "Are you asking me that?! I do not know!"

Her brows furrowed, but Oberon did not really reject her as his mate. A few days after he had marked her, that is when she had to leave the palace.

"What are you thinking about?" His hoarse voice broke her train of thoughts.

She sneered at him, "Do not even get started with me," she pushed him away, "I do not care if you claim to be my mate, which is even a lie! Just do not touch me!"

He rolled his eyes, "I can guess your first mate has not rejected you, then why are you no longer with him? He did not reject you, did he?"

"How is that your concern all of a sudden? Just go away!"

He shrugged, and sat on the bed, "You are too weak to resist me Nyx, do not act all tough."

His words hit her like a knife, piercing her heart, "Excuse you?"

The corner of his lips curved into a small smirk, "Nyx," he called sweetly, "How adorable you are! Such sweet soul wrapped in tender flesh," his eyes lit up, "Just drop all these, and be mine Nyx."

Nyx stared back at him with disbelief, her nose scrunched up in disgust. This couldn’t be her mate in any way, "Are you listening to yourself? I am literally already mar..."

He raised his hand signalling her to stop, "Do not say it," he cut her off rudely, "Do not," he gritted his teeth, the sweet look in his eyes suddenly turned sour.

Nyx had had enough of this. She wouldn’t stand here all day, and listen to a rogue spew out literally nonsense. Her eyes darted around, looking for a anything she would use in knocking this brat out.

Her eyes went back to him, "Please stop asking me questions, it is annoying. You are.."

He rose to his feet, took two strides, and grabbed her hand, "What exactly are you trying to do? Tsk, I am trying to be nice here, and you are taking advantage of it.."

She cut him off with a hard kick in his groins. He grunted loudly, and stepped back, trying to recover from the kick. Nyx saw this as an opportunity, and kicked him hard again in the face.

"Ahh!’

She pushed him backwards, holding his right thigh, carefully, she removed the silver dagger that was lying peacefully in its sheath.

She pointed it at him, "Do not dare coming close," she warned.

Draven’s head was spinning, and still he hadn’t processed everything that was going on.

Nyx noticing he wasn’t himself at that moment, hid the dagger underneath her clothes, opened the door, and fled the room.

One of Draven’s men saw her fleeing the room, "Is that not Nyx? Where is she going to?" He asked, puzzled at first. It then dawned on him, that she was running away.

He rushed after her hoping to capture her, before she ran away. Nyx noticed someone coming after her, she increased her pace.

"You all will not get what you are looking for," she mumbled under her breath.

She tightened her hold on her dagger, and kept running.

"Wait right there! Stop running!" She heard the man yell after her.

She looked back, and saw the man catching up with her, "Damn it!" She swore, and tried to increase her pace, but she bumped into someone.

She looked forward, and saw another of Draven’s men. She looked back, and forth. In desperation, she pulled out her dagger, "I am sorry!" She closed her eyes, quickly running it in his stomach.

He groaned, staggering backwards. Nyx was in a hurry, she just pushed him, making him fall backwards to the ground.

She continued her running.

"All of you! Get her! Do not let her escape!" She heard Draven’s voice burst through the hallway.

"Oh no!" She whimpered, "I should have just stabbed him right there," she gritted her teeth. She quickened her pace determined to get out of there, "They are just a bunch of old rogues, I can do this," she assured herself.

"Get her! Make sure she doesn’t escape it! Be quick!" He thundered at his men.

Before she knew it, the men chasing her had grown in numbers, all of them rushing madly at her.

Nyx was terrified, "Oh damn! They are growing in numbers!’" she panicked.

Her eyes saw the small gate ahead, "If only I can get to that gate before them," she said to herself.

Heavy footsteps were jamming the ground, and it was clear that the people chasing after her were not little in numbers at all.

Her heart fell in her stomach, She couldn’t let him get her back again. It would be worse than before.

"I can do this," she said breathlessly as she rushed at the gate that was just a few yards ahead of her.

She heard footsteps closing up on her. In her panic, she swerved the dagger around, striking him in the eye. He yelped loudly, holding his left eye, which she had just struck.

"I am sorry!" She gasped, and ran out of the gate.

"No!" Draven yelled, "GET HER!"
