Chapter 196: A sense of Deja vu
Chapter 196: A sense of Deja vu
Archi was being escorted out of the guards quarters to the main palace building, and he didn’t seem to be scared at all, he probably enjoyed the walk to the palace building.
They got to the main palace building, and they escorted him to the throne room. How he hated that place!
The doors were thrown open, and they got inside. Oberon wasn’t in, so they had to wait for him.
"Sit down," Zephyr ordered him.
Archi’s lips turned downwards, and he shook his head, "Sit where? On the floor?" He arched his brows at Zephyr, "I don’t really like the idea of that," he replied softly.
Zane was getting irked, "Have some god-damned respect!"
"Oh, I’m being respectful. I just don’t want what you want me to do," he replied, his voice still cool.
Zephyr was almost at the point of snapping but he decided to keep his cool.
"Listen young man, stop being a nuisance and sit down, and wait for the King to come here."
"Why is standing waiting for him a problem? I want to keep standing, let me be."
"What is the matter?" A hoarse voice boomed.
They all looked in the direction the voice came from, and noticed it was Oberon. They all bowed respectfully except Archi, who just gave a slight bow.
"He is being a pain in the neck your majesty, he is just too difficult!" Zephyr told him.
Oberon’s eyes turned to face Archi, and he squinted his eyes, "You? What have you done already? You barely came here some hours ago."
He shrugged, "I did not do anything, I do not know why they are coming at me," he responded.
"How dare you lie even to the king?" Zane snapped, and struck him across the face.
Archi clenched his fists ready to strike back, but remembered he was in front of Oberon, and had to make a good impression suddenly.
"Can you see the people you call your guards? He just struck me for no reason, now tell me what I have done to warrant such."
Oberon gave him a frown, "Stop acting so immature all of you," he put his hands behind him, and walked slowly towards his throne. He got to it, and sat down.
Zane gripped his arm, and pulled him towards Oberon, and made him kneel before him.
"He is a threat your majesty, he is of no good. It is best you throw him out before he causes any more trouble," Zane tried persuading Oberon.
Oberon didn’t reply to Zane, instead he gave Archi a long stare. Throwing him out wasn’t so hard for him, but a part of him wanted this man around.
"Leave me with him," he ordered.
Zephyr tried to dissuade him from that thought, "We can not your majesty, he seems to be of no good at all. What if he tries doing something bad to you?"
"Nothing will happen to me," he raised his hand, and waved it at them, "Leave," he added with a note of finality.
Zephyr looked at Zane, and nodded at him, one by one, they all left the throne room leaving Archi, and Oberon alone.
"What did you say your name was young man?"
"Logan your majesty," he replied.
"Stand up."
Archi looked up at him, shrugged, and got to his feet.
"What exactly did you do?"
Archi hesitated for a while thinking about if he should tell him the truth.
"Speak up," his voice was as cool as it could ever be.
"I fought with the head guard, and maybe broke his head," he twisted his lips.
Oberon blinked his eyes, and a sense of deja vu hit him.
"Why did you do that?" He rested back on his throne, and folded his hands.
"He was just being too bossy. I hated it, he did not want me around, all because he feels I am a threat.. which clearly I am not," he raised his nose in the air, and folded his arms across his chest.
"So you started a fight because he felt you are a threat?"
"No he started it. You could ask some eye witnesses that were around, they will tell you everything. I can swear that I was only trying to get to my room peacefully but he would have none of it," he growled.
Oberon propped his chin with his hand, and just stared at him without saying a word. Archi found that uncomfortable, so he dropped his gaze, not wanting to look at him. The next thing he heard was some chuckling, and he whipped his head up to look at him.
He was laughing!
His brows creased together, "What is so funny?"
Oberon kept snickering till tears appeared at the corner of his eyes. He exhaled deeply, and wiped the tears, "Oh dear goddess! You are just like a mini version of me!" He burst out laughing again.
Archi’s heart sunk when he said those words, he was his son after all, what was the big deal? He bit his lips, and his face immediately turned sour.
Oberon stopped laughing, and exhaled again, "Well, well, I will address him later. He did not have the right to just start a fight just like that," he chuckled, and he sighed deeply.
"This is something Archi would have done if he was here," Oberon’s smile suddenly turned sad, and he dropped his gaze.
"You can go," he waved his hand.
Archi could feel his resolve weakening. He once loved this man so much, and all he wanted was just to be with him, be showered with his love, and attention.
He really wanted to scream, and take off his mask, and tell him he was Archi, but that wasn’t going to happen.
He turned on his heels, and headed towards the door feeling weak all of a sudden.
"Logan?"
He stopped, and turned his head over his shoulder, "Yes your majesty?"
"Wait," he stood up, and walked over to meet him, "I was wondering...how old are you?"
"Twenty," came the reply.
His eyes lit up, "Twenty?"
"Yes."
He nodded, and dropped his eyes, "Archi is also twenty. I wish he was here, you somehow remind me of him, I just can not shake that feeling off."
Archi cursed inwardly, and quickly looked away.
"Do come around more often," Oberon patted his back, smiled, and walked back to sit on his throne.
Archi clenched his jaw, and rushed out of the throne room. Was he really going to do this?
