Chapter 197: "Take her away"

Nyx stood outside her house, her heart thumping. What was going on with her son? How was he? How was he doing? Did anything bad happen to him?

"I hope he is fine wherever he is," she prayed, her heart still thumping for whatever reason.

"Are you okay mother?" Thane appeared with a small pot in his hands.

She looked at him, and calmed down a little, "Oh Thane, you are here."

"What is the matter? You seem worried," he walked up to her.

She nodded, "I am just a little tensed. I wonder if my son is okay."

He laughed nervously, "He is fine. He is one strong wolf, why worry about him?" He held her hand, and led her inside, he made her sit, and went inside the kitchen to drop the pot.

"What have you got in there?" She asked inquisitively.

"Some soup. It’s quite cold, you should warm up a little," he sat beside her.

She dropped her gaze, "I really miss him already," she sniffed, "I still do not understand why he says he wanted revenge."

"He is doing it for you mother," he patted her shoulder, "I know you still have a caring heart, and would just forgive him even when he does deserve an answering."

"Do you want me to dish out the food now?"

"Oh, yes please," she propped her chin, and exhaled deeply.

"I will be right back," he got to his feet, and went to the kitchen.

She rested her head, and closed her eyes for a while.

A few seconds later, she heard a knock on the door, and her eyes snapped open. She whipped her head in the direction of the door, and her heart skipped a beat, "who is that? No one lives around here," she mumbled.

Thane came back with a plate of soup in his hands, and he gently put it on the dining table.

"Mother, it is dinner time," he announced.

She raised her hand in the air, signalling him to be quiet, "Someone is outside the door," she whispered with wide eyes.

He arched his brow, "Do you have neighbors now?"

The knock sounded again, this time a little harder. She flinched, and quickly rose to her feet, rushing over to hold Thane.

"It is fine, there is no need to panic, we will go, and just see who it is, calm down," he gave her a reassuring smile, but she just couldn’t shake the bad feeling settling in her heart.

"I do not feel good about this Thane, please do not open the door," she shook her head.

He patted her shoulders, "Let me go see who it is then, you stay here," he gently removed his hands from around her shoulders, and walked steadily towards the door.

"Thane.. my son, I do not think that is a good idea," her lips quivered.

He looked back at her, and smiled affectionately once again, "Calm down, we will never know until we find out."

He held the door knob, and turned it, opening the door. A man stood outside, waiting.

Thane furrowed his brows in confusion, Who was this? There was no one who stayed around here, so why was this person here?"

"Excuse me? Who are you looking for?" He asked politely.

The man took in Thane’s features, and smirked, "I never knew she had another son. Is Archi around?"

Thane’s heart skipped a beat, this man knew Archi?

"No.. no.. he is not, why?"

"He is not? Great!" He grinned showing off his teeth that had pieces of raw meat stuck in it. He turned around, spread his arms, and yelled, "Archi is not at home!"

Almost immediately, more of his kind appeared from nowhere, and began to troop towards the house.

Nyx who wasn’t sure of what was going on asked, "Thane.. is.. everything okay? Why is he yelling?"

Thane cursed inwardly. He looked back at Nyx, and shook his head, "Everything is under control.. for now," he muttered the last part.

By the time he faced forward, they were all gathered in front of the house.

"What is the meaning of this? Why are all these people here? Who are you guys? What do you want?" He gritted his teeth.

"Nyx" he grinned again, flashing his set of disgusting teeth.

Nyx gasped, and covered her mouth with her palm, "Me?" She almost whispered.

Thane looked back at her, and saw how she trembled, "What do you want with her?"

The man, who appeared to be the leader, shoved Thane aside, revealing Nyx. His eyes brightened, as he walked steadily towards Nyx.

"My beautiful Nyx," his eyes lit up with admiration.

Nyx cowered, "Wh- who are you? What do you want from me?"

"Do not even think of touching of her!" Thane yelled, rushing at him, but some of the men present held him back.

"Let me go you filthy rogues!" He struggled violently, but the men held him down.

Nyx was shaking like a leaf, "Please.. who are you?" She managed to ask with a shaky voice.

"Oh, forgive my rudeness," he laughed, and held his chest, "My name is Draven," he flashed her his teeth again making her shrink in disgust.

"What do you want from me?"

"Oh, nothing much. You see, I have been eyeing you for a long time now, coupled with the fact that you are no longer with your mate," he paused and glanced at her. Her eyes pricked with tears, and she looked away.

"Stop talking, you stupid thing!" Thane lashed at him.

"Well, you are one beautiful, tender, and surprisingly very young," he walked around her, "Of course, I want that young vibrant blood in my bed, and no one befits that role, but you," he stopped walking, and stood behind her.

"I would have come for you sooner, but that son of yours would not let me! He is definitely not the one I would contend with, us rogues are terrified of him."

Nyx clasped her hands together, her head bent down "I do not want to go with you. Please name any other thing, I will make sure I get it for you."

He shook his head, "No way. I want you, and that is it."

"Come on, take her away," he ordered.

Thane tried all that he could, to shove the men off him, but all to no avail, they were way stronger than he was. Some of Draven’s men took Nyx away forcefully, paying deaf pleas to her cries.

Thane was overpowered, and he was left to lie on the ground while Nyx was being taken away.

"Noooo!"
