Chapter 188: Archi’s strike

SIX YEARS LATER

Archi was now twenty years old. In these six years, he had harbored hatred towards Oberon, and he really wanted to strike back. The thought of his mother crying all by herself, and fighting to make ends meet for him as a kid pained him each time he thought of it.

Each passing day, whenever he was alone, he would keep drawing out new plans on how he would return to that palace and carry out his plans, but his mother never knew all of this, only Thane, his best friend.

He sat on a log of wood outside, looking up at the sky, and he sighed, "Do you think it is the right time to go back?" He asked no one in particular.

"What are you waiting for? For the skies to turn red, and purple before you take it as a sign to go back?"

Archi groaned, "I swear, I’d kill you one day Thane," he swiped at him, "Go away!"

Thane laughed, and sat beside him, "Surprise!"

He rolled his eyes, "What are you doing here?"

"I was bored. Done all my chores, there was nothing else to do, so I decided to come spite you a little bit," he grinned sheepishly.

He held his head, "Oh my goodness, where did I ever meet you?"

He shrugged, "Listen, Archi. You are ready for this mission of yours, what else are you waiting for?"

"I do not think it is time yet. I still feel I should wait a little bit longer?"

"Wait for what?"

He shrugged, "I do not know."

Thane hit his head with a stick he found nearby, "Stop being a dummy."

Archi gritted his teeth, and gripped his hand. He carried him over his shoulder, and they both fell to the ground.

They rolled on the ground for a while, both of them struggling to get up.

Nyx came outside with a few clothes in a basket, and sighted them. She rolled her eyes.

"You boys, stop that right now."

They stopped, and faced her. Thane who was on top of Archi rolled off him, and coughed.

"Fine," he folded his arms across his chest.

"No more rough play from the both of you, go and do some work," she shook her head, and went to the back of the house.

Archi’s eyes followed her, and he sighed sadly, "I have everything planned out. I am only waiting for the perfect time to strike."

"I do not think anytime is more perfect than now," Thane got to his feet, and helped Archi get up.

"You think?"

"I know so."

He held his chin, in thought, and nodded, "I guess you are right. I have to start putting myself together," he smiled.

"Yes, you should..."

There was silence for a moment, as if they were trying to meditate on their words.

"Archi?"

"Hm?"

"Would you go back, and present yourself to your father in this form?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, if you went back to the palace, your father would be happy that his son finally returned back to him. How would you be able to carry out your plan if he is always around you?"

"Oh that," Archi’s lips turned downwards, "I would go with a disguise. It is as easy as that," he grinned.

"That would be better," Thane nodded in agreement.

"Mother would be disappointed if she found out about what I am about to do," he went back to sit on the log of wood.

"Why not? Does she not want to get back at him?"

"She does, but she insists that she had left that palace because she was avoiding a type of danger. An old friend of hers had revealed this to her."

Thane creased his eyes brow, "Is that so?"

"So if you go back to the Palace, you would be in that danger she had been warned of?"

He shrugged, "I honestly do not know."

"All this is complicated! It would be better if you went there with a disguise, so as to revert that danger or something. If you are disguised, no one would know it is you, right?"

"He might get a little suspicious though. I am his flesh, and blood after all."

"Change your scent then," he chipped in.

Archi looked at him with widened eyes, "Huh? What am I? Husband of the moon goddess?"

"Tsk, do not act all dumb, and listen to me."

"Okay?"

"We could exchange our wardrobes. You take my clothes, and I would take yours. In that way, my scent would be temporarily yours, that is, if you do not take them off when you are near him."

Archi blinked in shock, speechless.

"Is that fine with you?"

"What are you?"

Thane rolled his eyes, "I am a werewolf as you are."

"We must get to work immediately. The earlier, the better."

Archi nodded, "Yes, you are right, but.."

"What is it now?"

"I have to think of a way to tell my mother. I mean, she obviously would forbid me from going back to the palace, and I do not have the heart to run away leaving her all by herself."

Thane rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "You are right. What are we going to do now?"

Nyx came in that moment, "Oh, Archi, Thane? Could you both come over here, and help me?"

They both stood, up and went towards her.

"What’s up mother?" Thane wrapped his arms around her, and pecked her head.

"Quit that Thane!" Archi yanked his shoulder, and pulled him backwards, making him almost fall to the ground.

"Is there ever a time, the two of you comport yourself?" She held her waist, looking at them sternly.

"He started it," Archi pouted.

"Go set up the firewood. The steamer is not working. I have to prepare lunch quickly."

"Yes mother," they said in unison, and they walked to the back of the house.

"You should tell her Archi, you have no choice," Thane whispered to him.

He clenched his fists, "I do not want to hurt her by going against her will. She does not want me to fight with him, but at the same time, I just can not let whatever happened to her slide just like that."

"Just brace up yourself, and do it."

Archi looked ahead, "I will."
