Chapter 189: Archi’s Strike 2

Archi watched Nyx set the table. He sighed, and sat down while she served him his dinner.

"Mother.. I would like to tell you something please."

"Yes?" She arched her brows, still concentrated on what she was doing.

He inhaled deeply, bracing himself for an outburst of emotions.

"I.. am going back to the palace in a few days."

She whipped her head up, and gave him a hard stare, "What?"

He shrugged, "I am going back to the palace," he repeated, his voice a little more firm.

"Why? What do you want to do there?"

He looked away, "I would like to finish something that has already started."

She completely stopped serving him, and stood akimbo, "You are not going back there, I have already told you.."

"We left the palace all those years ago. How would that danger you are talking about even still be lurking around?"

She stopped, and continued serving him, "You are not going back there, and that is final."

He groaned, "Mother, you do not have to let everything go just like that!"

She was startled, and creased her brows, "Did you just raise your voice at me?"

He gulped, "Mother," he called out more softly, and rose to his feet. He wrapped a hand around her shoulder, "Mother, please let me go back there. You can not let everything father did to you go just like that."

She slightly pushed him away, "Listen, I have already told you. I am the one who has a problem with him not you!"

"I do not care! I have seen what you go through, even though I was too little to understand it back then, you deserve more than this."

Her eyes teared up, "I made a mistake telling you this all those years back. See what it has caused," she palmed her face.

His breath hitched, and he squinted his eyes at her in disbelief, "Are you being serious? What do you mean you made a mistake telling me the truth? You and I both know what he did was wrong, and he should be punished for it!"

"No! You will not do anything to him Archi!" She removed her hands from her face, and pointed at him angrily.

He clenched his fists, his face as red as a cherry.

"What is the matter with you Mother? You are literally supporting the wrong he did to you?!"

She shook her head, "I am not supporting him or anything like that, but I do not want you to be involved in a fight with your father."

He took some steps backwards, "I do not know what to say to you," he shook his head in disapproval, "You do not want your revenge?"

"I do but.."

He took two large strides towards her, and held her hand cutting her short, "Let me do what you were supposed to do," he looked at her with pleading eyes.

She stared at him, somehow he was slowly convincing her.

"I.." she gulped nervously, "No," she let go of his hand, "I do not want you to plot any kind of revenge for me. I can do it myself."

He scoffed, "You can do it yourself? Really?" He rolled his eyes, "Then why have you not done it yet?" He shook his head, "I know you in and out mother, you are so not going to fight back, you are not even ready to."

"Let this discussion end now," she stated firmly, "I do not want to talk about this anymore," she turned on her heels.

"Why? You really love him, do you not?" He folded his arm across his chest.

She closed her eyes, and another tear ran down her left cheek.

"I did," she sounded, her voice barely a whisper.

"Come on mother, we have to do something, I am not letting it go just like that. I will not."

Her lips quivered, "What do you intend on doing when you go back to the palace?" She asked him.

A deadly smile played at the corner of his lips, "Something he deserves," his smile turned into a very wide grin.

"Why do I feel you want to do something more than just a mere punishment?" She slowly turned to face him.

He shrugged, "How bad could it be?"

She shook her head, "I am begging you, do not do anything that will harm him. He should be taught a lesson, yes, but please do not go too extreme."

"Why was he not gentle with you?"

She bowed her head, unable to answer that question.

He sighed deeply, "Stop trying to defend him at all cost. He does not deserve it at all."

Her legs felt weak, and she had to sit down to support herself.

"Mother, please let me go back," he held her shoulder, "Please, I will not forgive myself if I knew what you went through, and I would just let it slide, just like that."

Nyx was overwhelmed, and she broke down in sobs. Archi’s eyes softened, and he knelt beside her.

"I do not like seeing you in tears. Those pearls of water should not be wasted over someone who does not deserve it. These beads are far too precious," he wiped her cheeks with his thumb.

"Please do not cry mother. Just allow me go back, and set everything right."

She looked up at him, "Archi," she threw her hands around his neck. He embraced her warmly, patting her head.

"Do not cry. I will make sure he comes back, and gives you a very sincere apology," he said firmly.

"This was not what I always wanted," she shook her head, "I had thought I would have a loving family who would be together, but.. but..."

"You have me," he smiled, "Do not worry about him, we can go on without him."

She sniffled, "Archi.. my light," she whispered.

He kissed her hair, "I will always continue to be," he whispered back.

She coughed slightly.

"Would you allow me to?"

She closed her eyes, and sighed deeply, "If that is what you want.. then go ahead. You have my blessings," she held his hand.

He squeezed it tightly, "Thank you. I love you mother."

"I love you too my son."
