Chapter 89: Taming Daemon NorthSteed
Chapter 89: Taming Daemon NorthSteed
In Vraga, we have five regions although geographically just four.
In the East is the GreenLands also known as the Wet Lands.
In the West is the Iron Coast, also known as the Water Lands.
In the North is the Arctic North, also known as the Ice Lands
In the South is the Desert, also as the Dry Lands.
While the Central Lands bordering the East and West, which is a region that is not a region, is also known as the Mountains, for its unnatural, extremely rocky terrain.

The Red Wolf growled angrily in response, red eyes simmering as his wolf . "Well know it that this inept was formerly bonded to Daemon NorthSteed and she is the only one who can infiltrate the Arctic Castle flawlessly."
Vessira mulled it over, her anger not waning for a moment. She was almost convinced, but then her expression darkened further as if she remembered something.
"Do you think it will be easy to approach Zina WolfKnight and activate the amulet manually now that she is bonded to Daemon NorthSteed?"
The man clicked his tongue, his body tightening as if strung from an anger that simply couldn’t be put to words. "You taunt me with some man again."
Vessira circled him, "You and I are supreme shifters. Of course you look down on him for he is a Lycan Shifter. But it is not his physical strength that I fear, it is his mind."
"His mind...." The man trailed amusedly. "I hear he is called Unia because he handles his opponent in battle by moving them as if they’re chess pieces. Forgive me if I don’t find him that impressive."
Vessira narrowed her eyes. "That man is responsible for our current predicament." She gritted.
"What do you mean?" The Red Wolf asked.
"Do you think it was just a mere coincidence that Zina WolfKnight was kidnapped by the Arising Rogues? Forget her abduction for a moment, do you think it is natural that I and my pack were inevitably involved in a war that has raged for as long as six years? That man..." Vessira trailed, shaking her head, "his mind is to be rightfully feared. I do not know how he did it but he managed to connect Zina WolfKnight’s existence to the Matriarchy. He is searching for something."
"And whatever he is searching for he won’t find." The Red Wolf said matter-of-factly. "Since you assert he might be a challenge, I shall make plans to eliminate him."
Vessira immediately scoffed loudly, chuckling darkly. "Surely you must be joking? To think that he is a man to be eliminated simply because you want to."
Freya interrupted again. "I support Alpha Vessira on this one." She drawled, smiling. "Daemon NorthSteed is not a piece you simply remove from a game. He might not be one, but he is exactly just like the immovable Supreme Shifter Piece. Unless he wants out, the enemy cannot take him out of the board."
"So what do you both suggest?" The Red Wolf asked, amusement tinged to his voice as if he found it unbelievably amusing that there was such a man who was so untouchable.
"I shall tame him for you," Freya suggested with eyes that shone with greed. "In return, I want you to promise me that you will return my slave contract."
"I do not believe that to be a fair exchange."
"Shall I allow you to witness first hand the amount of annoyance a man such as Daemon NorthSteed might prove for your plans? If not, then watch and see that this is a truly fair exchange."
"How will you do it?" Vessira interrupted, her disbelief evident. "I mean how will you tame the banished prince? Surely you do not mean by some underhanded seduction tactics? If so, I shall advise you to abandon such thoughts."
"Underhanded," Freya drawled in a low voice, acting slightly offended. "Believe me, my tactics are hardly underhanded. But since you ask I shall simply let you know that Daemon NorthSteed will surely be back to the Arctic North, probably as the Alpha King which will make our plans harder to fulfill. And besides, there is no better love story than that of a former flame returning back to her lover."
"Fine." The Red Wolf agreed, flexing his muscles. "You have two months to slither your way into the Arctic Castle and activate the amulet."
"Where shall I find the amulet?"
"It is in a wooden staff that the subject possesses."
"I will meet you here in two months time; how will I communicate with you on my progress?"
"We have a contact at the Arctic Castle. He will approach you and show you our sign."
"Very well. I shall now take my leave."
With another bow, Freya flung her cloak up until the soft tresses of the clothing covered her. And then she turned and left.
Vessira regarded the masked man impassively. "I pray that this plan of yours works for your sake and mine."
"Don’t be so strung tight, Vessira." The man said in a voice that was surprisingly amused.
Vessira turned too to leave, but she had not taken more than three steps away when the man’s next words halted her stride.
"Did her death bother you? I mean seeing as she is your daughter?"
Vessira stilled, her palm balling into a fist. "What.did.you.just.say?" She gritted with much effort.
The man shrugged, unconcerned. "I heard you traveled at top speed to fight the rogue. Were your concerns merely for the fact that she might lose her life earlier than she should? Or were those concerns far deeper? Perhaps you believed that if she died she would never resurrect again?"
Vessira exhaled a huge amount of air, releasing her fist. "My concerns were merely technical. And besides, she is no daughter of mine." She enunciated darkly. "Tread carefully, Red Wolf."
And with that, she stalked away to the wake of the Red Wolf’s maniac laughter that followed her all the way through, and echoed in the waves of the turbulent sea.
