The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 64: The Convoy Without A Theta

Chapter 64: The Convoy Without A Theta

DAEMON

"You’ve unleashed a shit storm." Yaren said the moment he entered Daemon’s tent early that morning. "The news is spreading fast. Everyone knows that the Theta sent by Eldric to you has been kidnapped by Zoric Sofyr."

Daemon, who was wearing his clothes massaged his neck, his wolf still feeling restless. Unlike most werewolves, Daemon had never been one to casually give control to the creature that lurks within him. Control was a very... one might say sensitive thing for him, so he preferred being the one always in control.

Not like he didn’t like the damage his Lycan wrecked whenever it was unleashed.

Sex, good sex would solve the restlessness. And he wouldn’t be getting laid anytime soon if he didn’t manage to end the war. And he intended to do that just at the full moon which was eight days away. Which meant he had very hard work ahead of him, and under a limited time at that.

Shoving his wolf somewhere behind much to its disgruntlement, Daemon began to tie his boots. "Zoric knows how to take a bite at an appealing trap." He said, thinking of his next move. Although to be honest, the move was not for him to make. It was for the WolfKnight’s.

"The bait you used for this trap is quite unconventional," Yaren remarked, "took me by surprise."

"Why? Do you think the rogues would lay a hand on the incorruptible Theta?" Daemon said in the blandest mock horror he could muster, "I am sure with her abilities she will be able to walk out of this one alive."

"Her company is journeying to us at top speed. Including our dearest brother Falcon. They’re mere minutes out." Yaren informed him.

Daemon paused slightly. Of all awkward conversations he imagined, having one with his baby brother had not been in the equation. Provided, Falcon shared the same mother with Eldric, but that didn’t negate the bond Daemon once shared with him.

Daemon had all but raised Falcon when his mother passed away, the same way he took Yaren under his wing... also the same way he took Eldric too under his wing. Looking back now, he had indeed played the suffocating role of the big brother to the T.

Falcon could have very well changed, but that wasn’t any concern of his.

"The Red Hand did a very wonderful job. Have her rewarded." He said, walking out of the tent into the early morning sunlight that illuminated the camp. Yaren followed behind as they walked through the army that bowed on seeing them.

"I’ve already tried to reward her, she says she doesn’t want gold... or silver for the matter."

"What does she want then? Don’t tell me she wishes that I have her freed from the organization?" Daemon asked distractedly.

Yaren shook his head, "She wishes that you request the Scarlet Mother to have her privately enlisted as your aid for at least one year." He said.

"She wants to work for me?" Daemon repeated, raising an eyebrow at Yaren at the request.

"So it would seem." Yaren answered, grinning.

"Fine, enlist her in your retinue then." Daemon declared, turning back the trap Yaren had gleefully set back to him.

"Daemon," Yaren began to protest, "truly I have no need for a..."

"What?" Daemon cut him short as they reached the barricade that closed off the camp. "You do not have a need for a high class seductress as you’ve so termed them. I am of the mind that you’re a master of harem itself. Surely you can handle one more woman, albeit one with a tendency to take people’s life mid coitus."

They started to climb the watch tower where their scouts were already observing everything that happened within proximity to the camp and Yaren clamped his mouth shut, seeing that Daemon was not ready to budge on his stance. "Fine. I shall pass her to Marcus’ command then."

"Pass what to me?" Marcus, who was stationed at the observatory asked suspiciously, looking between Daemon and Yaren.

"A present of course." Yaren answered, causing Marcus to narrow his eyes at him.

"I doubt that." The other man said.

"What is the status?" Daemon asked Marcus in business mode.

"There have been no sightings of rogues so far. Our contact in Rogues camp reported that the Theta was brought in deep into the night that was giving way to the early hours of the morning. So far, Zoric had not made any move on her... but that status could very well change anytime soon."

"What of the WolfKnights?" Daemon inquired, gazing out at the mass of greenery that faced.

The knowledge that the woman who had all but challenged him to come back alive and take her life was in close proximity excited him a little too much. Daemon figured that one of the reasons his wolf was restless was because they marked her for the hunt. And Daemon could feel the connection to that mark strengthening.

With such proximity, Daemon could track Zina WolfKnight down and find her... and there was nothing that thrilled his wolf more like a good hunt. But this was not the time for it. He had a plan, one where he would quickly end the war and journey back to the Desert to see his dying uncle. The journey would prove to be one that would set off the chain of events that would lead to Daemon taking back what everyone asserted was stolen from him— the throne of the Arctic North.

"The WolfKnight’s are already feeling the heat of what is happening," Marcus answered, "already, two high-ranked packs have sent a letter to Alpha Modrich, asking him, and I quote, ’to not forget his family’. I believe by evening today, he will break and finally seek you out."

Daemon chuckled lightly as his wolf eyes picked out about twenty werewolves at a far distance, running at top speed with a carriage behind them.

"I believe Alpha Modrich would crack down before evening. My dearest brother’s goodwill is already here."

Marcus and Yaren strained their eyes to see what Daemon’s superior sight picked up. Soon enough they would see it, that the Theta’s convoy has arrived without the Theta present in it.
