The Alpha's Blind Fate
Chapter 63: To Meet The Banished Prince

Chapter 63: To Meet The Banished Prince

Seraph gnawed at her lips as she tried to keep in the tears that was bubbling within her. She had fallen off a cliff in the commotion of the rogue attack, and that had marked the last time she had seen the Theta.

Looking around her at their companions who were bloodied and battered, knowing who to trust and who to not trust became increasingly hard. She could swear that it was only Ablanch and the Alpha Prince Falcon that had made an attempt to protect the Theta. Even the Temple Knights that Elder Sybril had secured for them were much interested in protecting themselves against protecting the Theta.

They made no obvious move to shield the Theta in the inferno of the Rogue attack. That fact made Seraph hesitant on who to speak to and ask for help.

Seraph moved to Alpha Prince Falcon who was shouting orders to his subordinates that were bruised and battered beyond recognition.

"Your highness," Seraph bowed, wrangling her fingers together until she nearly cut off the flow of blood there. "We must find the Theta."

"I know." the prince grunted, looking equally troubled. He was doused in blood so thick that it dripped from his torn clothes. The sight almost made Seraph’s hematophobia want to submerge her into unconsciousness. But when she remembered that her mistress was missing, her distress buried the nausea.

Seraph had to be strong. No, she must be strong. Even if it was a quarter of the Theta’s strength.... Okay, maybe that was asking for too much, just one of a hundred of the Theta’s strength would be enough for her to push forward.

"We cannot exactly infiltrate the rogue camp," Alpha Prince Falcon mused, eying the rest of the party who stood off at the other side. "Our only choice is to continue on to Daemon’s camp." He finished grimly, causing the pit in Seraph’s stomach to drop unceremoniously.

She didn’t exactly imagine the banished prince helping them with open arms, or a smile on his face for the matter. In fact, she didn’t imagine him helping them at the very least... not with the sordid history he shared with the Theta.

"Will the banished prince help us?" Seraph said, voicing her concerns. Before the prince could answer her, Xalea Borne interrupted them.

"Your highness, we’ve decided to gather and discuss the next course of action." The man said, his rough features and guttural voice sending a bolt of both fear and hatred running through Seraph.

What were they to discuss?

"Discuss what?" The alpha prince said through narrowed eyes, voicing Seraph’s exact thoughts.

Just behind Borne was the rest of their retinue. Ablanch, the Temple Knights, the Epsilons of the NorthSteed Pack, and the members of the Alpha King’s Special Werewolf Army. They didn’t lose anyone to the rogues, but those with grave injuries were sprawled on the floor as they willed their wolf to heal their wounds.

"I suggest we proceed with our mission to the camp of the Army Without An Alpha..." Borne suggested.

"That is a given." The Alpha Prince snapped. "When we get there, I plan on asking Daemon to form an arrangement that would rescue the Theta."

Borne stared at the Alpha Prince like he had grown two heads. "With all due respect your highness, you and I know that your brother will be the last person on earth to rescue the Theta. The diplomatic mission is most important, my suggestion is we convey the Alpha King’s wishes and then return to the Arctic North and inform him of what has happened."

What?! Borne was basically asking them to leave the Theta to her death! What was more shocking was the fact that the Temple Knights were nodding to the plan. Ablanch simply stared at them in horror. Seraph was yet to hear the young man speak.

"What?" The Alpha Prince snapped coldly in a voice that sent snow falling in Seraph’s brain. At least someone shared her indignation. "Are you asking that we abandon the Theta?!" He billowed.

"We cannot infiltrate the rogue army even if we had a thousand werewolves," Borne continued with his reasoning, "this war is not ours. The Arctic North cannot arbitrarily interfere, and as far as I can see, we all represent the goodwill of the Alpha King."

"This war was once ours!" The Alpha Prince billowed, "even now the person still fighting it is one of ours, banished prince or not!"

"The war is no longer ours," a different voice spoke in a deep bass. The man was one of the members of the Special Werewolf Army with a particularly nasty face and a height that towered over them all. Seraph had taken to calling him ’giant’ in her head. "Remember that the banished prince pushed off the war from the NorthWestern borders three years ago. This war solely belongs to the GreenLands."

Listening to their banter was the hardest thing that Seraph had been forced to sit through. In her head, all she could imagine was the various bad things that could be possibly happening to her mistress. And yet, the men before her were arguing useless semantics.

She bunched her clothes in her hands tightly as anger coursed through her. She looked remarkably small compared to them. In fact, the word ’tiny’ if used to describe her was not exactly far off the mark. And yet, that didn’t deter her from speaking the words that were bubbling within her.

"Have you all thought to ask why the rogues came after only the Theta!" she screamed—at least that was what she imagined in her head because what actually came out of her mouth was a startling cry that successfully halted the argument about her.

Every eye whipped to her, taking her in. Ablanch still hadn’t uttered a word. He seemed to be going through a silent internal crisis.

Seeing as though they were expecting her to finish what she was saying, Seraph squeaked with the meager courage she had remaining. She thought of what the ever wise and ever smart Theta would say.

"The Theta represents the face of the Alpha King. Kidnapping her is the same as doing the same to the Alpha King himself. Rescuing her should not be up for debate."

At the end, Seraph felt as though her heart would jump out of her chest. She had truly used up all the courage she could and could not afford. Any more and she might just faint.

The Alpha Prince nodded, "You heard that? Even an omega teaches you your duty! This blemish is a blemish on my brother, the Alpha King. We shall not make any decision until we meet with the banished prince."

No more objections were heard, but Seraph could very well see their disgruntlement. The men were content if her mistress died. But it would be over her body if she allowed it.

Ablanch drew her to the side.

"Head maid," he addressed her formally in the way he always did, "if all else fails after we meet the banished prince, I plan on infiltrating the rogue camp myself to rescue the Theta."

Seraph felt his resolve and nodded grimly too.
