The Alpha's Blind Fate -
Chapter 379: So Unprepared
Chapter 379: So Unprepared
ZINA
"No, no, no," she muttered under her breath, praying to the gods, screaming in her head, hoping to the heavens that she was not seeing right.
The light in the room wasn’t exactly the best. For all she knew the blood could from somewhere else.
Scrambling up, she began to examine her entire body for any wound, for anything that would explain the blood on the floor. Orchid cackled like a mad woman at her stupidity, while Rose leaned against the walls, rolling her eyes.
Meanwhile, her tears dropped like rain against a lake, and the lake in her situation was the pool of water on the floor mixed with blood and her tears.
There were the wounds across her body by Rowan’s chain whip. While the bruise had torn open her flesh causing blood and pus to ooze, he hadn’t hit a major blood vessel that would have caused the amount of blood on the floor.
She knew what was responsible for that blood, she knew where it was coming from, the evidence trailed to the middle of her thighs, and yet she refused to believe it.
She couldn’t believe it.
The thought that such cruelty had happened to her was so befuddling that she was scared to confront it.
She had foolishly thought herself strong. She knew she would loose her child in this endeavor but she still thought... she still hoped that fate wouldn’t be so cruel on her.
And in the case that fate happened to be cruel to her, she believed she would have the strength to move past it. She thought she would just grit her teeth through this ordeal and then mourn whenever it was over—even if it was in the underworld.
But she had been wrong.
She wasn’t strong. She wasn’t prepared. Yes, she might have chanted in her head over and over again that ’he who has everything must be prepared to loose everything’... but she had been stupidly unprepared.
What did she think? Who did she think she was? How had she overestimated herself so?
Maybe she should have cried and grovelled. Maybe she should have allowed them to save her unborn child and her mother. Maybe then, even if she lost them, it wouldn’t as much as it did now.
"NO!" She howled, screamed, like a mad woman so out of her mind she could take her own life that very moment.
Her naked body kneeled on the dirty pool on the ground, her body wracked by sobs as her fingers searched for something tangible that she could mourn. Something that she could hold onto that would remind her of her unborn child who had been so real and was now gone.
But there was nothing for her to hold onto, nothing to remind her of the child that once represent a light out of the dark tunnel that was the reminder of her own violent birth.
Her unborn was baby was gone... gone as the wind. And the people that caused it were rejoicing over misfortune, leering down at her as they watched her break with every sob she coughed out and every scream of ’no’ that she made to serve as denial.
It had been a long time since she cried like this. Ever since the WolfKnight’s officially betrayed her, Zina had never cried like this simply because she believed that nothing would cause her a pain greater than what the people she called her family caused her.
But her belief was finally shattered, and now, she was seeing pain in all its shades.
Rose’s face came into view, a malicious smile on her lips. "Oh beautiful , beautiful Zina. Your mother failed you, and now you too fail your own child. Isn’t this a beautiful cycle of failures?"
Her words sank into her veins like Scorpion’s venom, and With shaky hands, Zina touched the middle of her thighs, the blood getting on her fingers.
That was the only tangible thing representing her loss, and she committed that image to her memory so she would never forget.
So with all her might, she stared at her bloodied fingers, committing it to memory.
The feeling of hollowness at the pit of her stomach and the emptiness that followed, she committed that to her memory as well. Locking them in a place where she must never forget.
Rose slapped the hand away, "You still resist!" She snarled at her. "Give in or you will be feeling pain far more bitter, far more painful, and far more mind boggling."
Zina stilled, allowing the definitions of the pain she will feel in Rose’s hands in the future to in. Then next thing, her shoulders began to shake for a different reason—she was overcome by laughter.
It was the kind of laughter that came from nowhere, twisting her features into something vile and mad.
"My my, has she gone mad?" Orchid drawled, the fickle thing rolling her eyes.
Meanwhile, Rose’s expression was contorted to that of motivation. Zina could see it behind the woman’s eyes that she took great thrill in imagining all the ways she could bring Zina far more severe pain.
But Zina had a lot of things to say before she would embrace the world of pain that was coming for her.
"Now I see why Daemon NorthSteed abhors the Five Great Evil. Your torturing technique is definitely evil, Red Sister Rose." Zina said, swallowing down the pain shooting from between her legs to her brain.
The bubble of watching Daemon die had fallen off from her, and she was no longer numb to the physical pain her body went through.
Rose leaned down until they were of eye height, then with her rod she lifted Zina’s face up from under her jaw.
"It’s not a torturing technique," the woman drawled shamelessly, "it is a taming technique."she explained as if Zina needed to heat that.
Zina ignored the correction. "Have you ever had everything before?" She asked the woman.
"Is this your pathetic attempt to evade your sixth torture?" Rose said, smirking wickedly. "If that’s the case, you need not try hard, what is to come, will always come."
