Chapter 378: Reuniting With Him

ZINA

Zina returned yet again from another of her sordid past and a bucket of cold water was poured on her by her tormentors.

This time around, she had been transported into the past events surrounding the WolfKnight’s fake kidnap and the events that led to her becoming the Theta of the NorthSteed Pack and the Arctic North.

And this time around, unable to bear the weight of it all, she kept screaming ’no’ over and over again. Shivering like a wounded animal out in the snow, her mind had become a fragmented mess, and that was just the fourth round of her torment.

Her captors had made it clear that she would relive ten of her sordid pasts and they had promised her that she would break until she had nothing to hold onto.

Not her sanity, not her emotions, nothing.

"It’s just the fourth one and you’re already screaming," Rose said with a malicious pout while Orchid released the chains that bound her.

Zina dropped to the wet floor, her naked body gathering more wounds in the process. Her face was wet, but she didn’t know whether it was from the water that had been poured on her over and over again or from the tears she was far too shameful to admit tainted her eyes.

She shivered on the floor while muttering, "Stop it... please stop it."

They might not hit her the same way Rowan did, but the smack of their bat against her body ignited a terrible spell that took her to worlds that she would rather not visit.

World’s that were tormenting, abhorrent, terrible and traumatizing. World’s that she had thought she had forgotten all about.

The first world was when Igar WolfKnight abused her as a child. The second when her foster mother died and her world fell into the deepest pits of despair. The third, a fateful day when her blind self was beaten to a pulp till the point of death by the neighboring villagers while they chanted and called her a blind girl.

Throughout that beating in the third world, Modrich WolfKnight the son of the Alpha watched it all and didn’t interfere for once. When Zina finally got back home, the Alpha scolded his son while they prepared a bowl of hot soup for her, apologizing and saying it was ’just how children could be.’

But Modrich wasn’t a child at the time—he was fifteen while Zina was just seven.

And then came the fourth world—the events that triggered Zina’s life as she knew it and the betrayal of her pack.

The torture of experiencing those worlds came in how vivid they were. Zina couldn’t explain it, but it felt like she was present in her past in an unending loop of pain and torment while she watched her younger self suffer from lack of love and abandonment.

And just living out the life she had thought she had abandoned over and over again was enough to make her tether on the edges of madness.

What was real... what was unreal... she didn’t know anymore.

She managed to lift her face up from the pool of dirty water on the grounds and then looked up at Rose—the one they said was formerly a Red Sister.

"What are you people doing to me?" She muttered, tears streaming down her face, "I am asking what are you people doing to me!" She screamed more forcefully, sobs wracking through her body.

She had been cocky... far too in in her to think that she could hold out. Suddenly she wasn’t so sure.

Rose grinned, "we are reminding you of who you’re. The Abandoned One. Thralgor."

A hot tear slid down her face at the ancient language of the mountain wolves. She knew they weren’t over... far from it. So she curled into her body, her hands over her belly.

What could she protect? What would she loose in the process? How much would she loose at the end?

Those questions kept swirling in her head persistently, but she was without an answer to them.

"I heard you’re friends with a Red Sister," Rose said, "what was her name... Fionna?"

Zina didn’t answer.

"Didn’t she tell you how she was tamed? How her eight year old body or was it seven was strung on a pole, hit from morning till night until she became subservient? Believe me you yourself cannot escape this. It is either you bow on your own, or I will force you to bow."

Zina sniffled, her arm wounding over her exposed, Daly belly even tighter as if that would protect the child within her. She could feel it that she hadn’t lost her yet, but they was the impending fear that that loss was coming.

Rose’s eyes followed the motioned and she grinned wickedly. "We have been taking so much detour to the past, perhaps it is time that we took you into the future?" She finished with a smirk.

And then the rod came down on Zina, smacking her on her arms just over her belly. And this time, she found herself in a place where it snowed heavily.

And Daemon stood few feets away from her... smiling like she was the most precious thing in his sight.

Seeing him there was startling, but with her emotions wrung tight she smiled back at him as tears soaked her eyes over again. Was this a dream? Was she truly reunited to him? Did he manage to save her from those people?

Daemon ran to her like they were lovers long separated by fate, but were now reuniting while Zina beamed, waiting for him to reach her.

But the moment he got to her, Zina drove the silver dagger she never knew she had been holding into his heart and blood spluttered splashing on her face and painting the snow covered ground red.

The light in his dark, stormy eyes dimmed while his expression contorted to that of pain. And then he slid down, sprawled against the snow covered ground lifelessly with the dagger still embedded in his heart.

Then Zina smiled triumphantly while looking down at him.

Back in real life, cold water was splashed on her and she woke screaming and screeching like a banshee.

"Daemon!!! NO!!!" She screamed all over and all over again.

But the so called powers of her screams did not come to her as they never did ever since she was kidnapped, and the image she wished to erase from her mind did not erase either. Instead, the sight of blood mixed with water on the ground greeted her sight causing her to still.

Slowly tracing the origin of the blood, her eyes stopped at the space between her thighs.
