The Alpha's Blind Fate -
Chapter 377: Rose Lightelf
Chapter 377: Rose Lightelf
FIONNA
Fear they say is powerful enough to make the even the mightiest men bow, and the Scarlet Mother was no different. Playing before her was the fate of the one who reached into the dark to betray her benefactor.
And the Scarlet Mother, Cara Doefang, was such a person. Once an Acolyte herself, the Elder Sister had betrayed the former Scarlet Mother and then usurped her seat.
All that she did with the help of none other than Daemon NorthSteed, but unbeknownst to the woman, Daemon had also used the opportunity to plant a plague in the Red Sisters organization.
The kind of plague that had no choice but to spread like wild fire during the most windy times in the South. The kind of plague that ran so deep that the Scarlet Morher was no longer sure who was friend or foe amongst the women around her.
The very people that called her mother by virtue of her seat and not because she possessed particularly any innate motherly strength.
Eyes still darting around her as if that would help her to catch the spies that Daemon had managed to turn to himself, the Scarlet Mother turned the shade of her name, her furious glare resting back on Fionna and Marcus.
"Ask your king and Alpha to hand me a list of those so called spies!" She spat, "only then will I entertain your request!"
Marcus smiled darkly. "You seem not to understand the situation yet, Scarlet Mother." He said distastefully, "you’re in no position to make any requests. And should I turn and leave this place without what I’ve come for, there’s no assurance that you would get through the night with your life intact."
Fionna watched the woman turn redder until the veins in her neck bulged to the point Fionna imagined the vessel bursting from her anger.
"Since Daemon NorthSteed seems to be in so much control of my own organization," she gritted, "then have him use his spies and get what he wants."
"You know one Rose girl, right?" Marcus interjected, his words freezing the woman.
"I believe she was trainer for the Red Sisters," he continued while Fionna studied the Scarlet Mother’s strange expression on hearing the mentioned name. "Worked for the Tamers department even."
Fionna herself was curious about the person spoken of. When Daemon had mentioned it, it never rang a bell in her head. It wasn’t an uncommon name, but there was no one of great importance in the Red Sisters she knew that bore it.
But this Rose, whoever she was, seemed to be connected to the people that captured Zina and the Red Sisters as well.
"Which Rose?" The Scarlet Mother asked, slight fear painted on her face. It was strange and unusual at the same time.
"There’s only one arose who is a Red Sister that his majesty would bother asking if. And I am sure you know that better than I do," Marcus pressed on.
The Scarlet Mother swallowed. "If you speak of Rose Lightdew, then I will have you know that she left this organization thirty years ago." She finshed uncomfortably, the tightness of her face saying that she would rather not speak of the matter in the first place.
They never had a surname, but now they did. Fionna had to admit that Marcus was a skillful interrogator—fishing for information while pretending he knew about it in the first place.
From what Fionna gleaned from Daemon, the name Rose was the only thing they knew about the woman apart from the fact that she was formerly a member of the Red Sisters.
But Daemon had also been quite confident that only a Red Sister like the Scarlet Mother who had access to every information about the organisation would have any information about her.
"Where is Rose Lightelf as of now?" Marcus asked.
"I do not know." The Scarlet Mother answered curtly, but even Fionna could tell it was a lie.
"Lying won’t buy you any points, Scarlet Mother," Marcus growled, "you said it just now that no one can leave the Red Sisters after they are tamed. Rose is related to the kidnap case of the Luna Queen, so if you wish to keep the wrath of the Arctic North at bay, then I will advise you to speak up."
The mention of Zina had the Scarlet Mother perking up instantly. She twiddled with her fingers.
"I truly do not know what happened to Rose, but the previous Scarlet Mother wanted to keep what happened to her a secret."
"What happened to her?" Marcus asked slowly.
The Scarlet Mother sighed out loud. "She was taken away. A strange man came to this Manor and bought her."
Fiona frowned at that. "Red Sisters are never sold out." She commented because that was true. That was the only thing that the organisation prided themself in.
They took great fact that they created a home for women where they could put their legs down. As such, anyone forced to the organisation would after being tamed, willing stay with the Red Sisters because they were provided for and never given out for my reason.
The Scarlet Mother eyed her. "Rose was an exception. This man offered something that even the previous Scarlet Mother could not reject."
"Do you know anything about this man?"
"No I don’t. It was a private meeting at the time although I gleaned he was from the West."
"What was offered to the previous Scarlet Mother?"
The Scarlet Mother glanced at them uncomfortably. "Nothing quite tangible. Just a promise."
"What promise?" Marcus pressed forward mercilessly.
"The promise to make the former Scarlet Mother a wolf above every other wolf or some nonsense like that." The woman sneered, turning her eyes away. "That was the only thing I heard."
"Even if it was an intangible gift, there must have been a tangible thing to represent their contract. Can we have it?" Marcus asked.
"Fine," the woman sighed, "however it’s just some useless bone. Till today to do understand whatever nonsense that transpired."
Fionna scoffed, "You say you do not understand yet you were scared at the mention of Rose’s name."
An ugly sneer overtook the woman’s face just as an Acolyte returned, bearing a box that had the so called bone in it.
"That is because Rose Lightelf was the one who trained and tamed me! And believe me when I say she has quite a special technique of torture and taming." The Scarlet Mother spat out.
