Chapter 327: The 14 Year Old Blind Girl’s Dream
ZINA
Zina was taken through a private passageway by her guards, otherwise they would have met with traffic that was overflowing at all the public areas that surrounded the Greater Hall— a ceremonial hall used to conduct royal weddings, naming ceremonies and all that.
Even with less than five minutes for her to meet Daemon in all his glory, Zina was still nervous, but in the most delicious way.
Waiting in a private room behind the Hall, the High Priestesses of the Temple did some routine check that Zina was well aware of all the while. They asked for her pack of origin to which Zina had of course answered the WolfKnight Pack. They also asked if her and Daemon’s bond was a mate bond, or just an ordinary bond and her answers were noted down together with evidence of the mark on Zina’s neck.
It occurred to her that those words would go down in the annals of history to be recognized by future monarch’s that would rise into power in the Arctic North.
It also occurred to her as well that the future monarchs in question were most probably going to be the descendants of her and Daemon’s child; probably the fetus already formed in her belly.
So even though it was probably ’unqueenly’, she couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear no matter how hard she tried to hush her smile . It was afterall true that her heart was full and bursting at the seams.
She loved that she had enough power to do away with the veil that she was supposed to wear as bride. She didn’t want anything obstructing her view of Daemon and his charm. Nor did she want anything to obstruct him of her evident and barely contained happiness.
She wanted him to see it all... that she would not have her union otherwise. That he made her so happy and fulfilled, and that she had never been as happy as she currently was.
She wanted him to see... to feel it all. Unfiltered at that.
And then the time came, ushered by the Herald’s voice as he announced her entrance boldly.
"We shall now welcome Zina WolfKnight of the esteemed WolfKnight Pack of the GreenLands. Esteemed and honored Theta of the NorthSteed Pack and all of the Arctic North for six years and four months, and the Great Seer of all the lands who is now the fated and chosen mate of His Royal Highness Daemon NorthSteed, first of his name, Supreme Shifter of the Arctic Wolf of the North and the DireWolf of the Dessert South."
Loud cheers and thunderous claps greeted Zina’s ears as the back door to the Greater Hall opened. They were far more people than she anticipated in the hall, but none of them mattered as much as the man who stood at the altar, the very embodiment of all the light in the room.
Like darkness itself, Zina took her first irresistible step towards the light, and then her second. She was afterall a darkness that had been far starved for the longest time so it was only natural that she gravitated towards him.
She hardly noticed anyone as she walked down the aisle, living the very subject of her dreams.
It had been ten years ago when a blindfolded girl took solace in the pictures that only appeared in her dreams. Pictures of a domineering man wearing the clothes of a commoner and yet standing string even as the wind tossed his dark hair.
Enraptured by those ominous eyes of the young man, the fourteen year old girl dreamt and imagined forward that she could share a life with this man... she dreamt that she would build a family with this man.
With him beaming at her, and their pups running around their house.
Only if the goddess were ever kind enough to grant this little girl her big dreams, she wa sure she would die a happy death when the black angel came for her knowing that she had led a fulfilling life with a man she loved.
Not knowing who the man was, this girl had dreamt foolishly. But now, it would seem as though it wasn’t foolishness at all. The girl had manifested her visions of an alternate future that was now being fulfilled.
Zina was finally living the life she had imagined. She had carved her own dreams in a world that had filled with blindness and her suffocating fate.
When the light no longer blocked Daemon’s face from her, she could see his eyes glittering like majestic tides.
Up. Down. Up. Down. But still at ease.
The storm was calm, and there was finally peace at the sea.
How was it that this man’s eyes always reminded her of a sea when in reality she had never seen one save for experiencing it through stories she heard.
Truly, fate and love was a thing of wonder.
Just like she did, Daemon never took his eyes off her. Like two entranced orbs, they stared at her like she was the only thing that existed in his universe.
He was dressed in a full royal regalia that Zina knew he would not have been found in if not for the occasion. She knew that Daemon despised extravagant clothing, and wouldn’t be found in a full one no matter the official occasion. So the fact that he had dressed up so well just for her moved her already moved heart.
They were just smiling at each other, lost in their personal world that embodied their paradise. And they didn’t break their stare even as Zina finally made it to him.
Daemon swallowed, saying nothing. It wa quite scary because the man she knew had never been one to be tongue tied, and yet that seemed to be the case.
Daemon was nervous... for the first time in his life.
He adjusted the turtle neck of his inner shirt angrily like it was strangling the words from him as he opened and closed his mouth in yet another failed attempt to muster the words... the right words.
Then finally he said, "If I were to die at this moment, I would turn into a vengeful spirit and hunt whoever killed me for robbing me of the sight of this beauty."
Ahh... who would have thought he had a thing for superstition after all.
