Chapter 326: The Most Gorgeous Queen Bride
ZINA
Sybril hadn’t been joking when she said Zina’s hair would take two hours to make. To be more precise, the hair had taken one hour, fifty four minutes to take. But it was about the same point.
The torture of having to sit still while her hair was tugged in different directions by different hands was worth it when Zina beheld the final result before her vanity mirror.
Her breath was harshly stolen away as a different woman stared back at her.
She looked... different.
She looked... like a Queen.
And it was only then that the true weight of the journey she was about to undertake began to dawn on her. She was not merely going to be Daemon’s wife, she was about to join the NorthSteed Pack and become the Luna of the same.
And most importantly, she was about to become the Queen of the Arctic North and everything in it.
Daemon had treated it like it was nothing. Like he was not handing Uber a very imorutant position to her. But as Zina stared back at the woman in the reflection, she couldn’t afford denial in any form.
"Sweet goddess," Sybril exclaimed with an expression of shock and awe, "aren’t you a beauty."
Zina’s hair seemed to be a particularly vibrant silver. She had always thought the fullness of her hair to be a chore, but it was just the perfect lushness that was needed to execute the hairstyle she was wearing.
The hairstyle was intricately woven into a regal crown of braids cascading down her back, each strand gleaming with a lustrous silver hue that caught the light like moonbeams on freshly fallen snow.
Tiny crystals and delicate snowflake charms were entwined amidst the braids, adding a subtle sparkle that accentuated the ethereal quality of her appearance.
The crystals weren’t too much, but just enough to make a powerful statement alongside her luscious hair color.
The crown of braids framed her face elegantly, drawing attention to her light blue eyes and the delicate curve of her jawline.
It was certainly a hairstyle fit for a queen, commanding natural respect and admiration with its intricate craftsmanship and subtle symbolism of regality and grace.
As Zina traced her fingers lightly over the braids, feeling the careful work that had gone into each twist and knot, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of confidence that she had been lacking since yesterday when she had learnt that today was going to be her wedding.
With that confidence was a feeling that she was shedding old skin and stepping into something new.
Like she had been nameless for a long time but was now going to be with a name.
Like she had been homeless all her life, but would now be with a home.
Like he had been restless since her existence, but would now be with rest.
In her new look was a statement of her readiness to embrace the responsibilities and challenges that lay ahead as Luna of the NorthSteed Pack and Queen of the Arctic North.
A challenge she was more than ready to embrace in all its fullness, without a hint of fear and reluctance.
"Theta, we shall now slightly touch up your face if you’re ready," Narnia said tentatively, and until then, Zina hadn’t realised that her eyes were brimming with unshed tears.
She smiled at the young servant, "I am ready."
And they began to touch up her face with light make up. Due to the natural paleness of her skin, and the luscious—almost vibrant—red of her lips, they decided to tone down the colour of her lips to a dark red matched the overall tone of her hair.
She decided on the diamonds that Daemon once gifted her, and they fit perfectly well with the sweet heart corset top of her gown. Before Zina knew it, she was ready to walk down the aisle. And the woman that finally stared back at her in the mirror was a woman that Zina never thought she would discover.
Her maidservants were squealing, Yuri jumping up and down on her feet as any girl would. The girl had single handedly torn down her own hair do, but didn’t seem to care about her appearance in the very least.
Zina hoped the girl would continue to live like that... like a free soul that would never be trapped by any sort of gilded cage.
"Theta, the auspicious time is here!" Narnia squealed, "the servants report back that the guests are seated at the great hall and the Alpha King is waiting."
Just yesterday morning, she had been with Daemon at the combat grounds, but now, it felt like it had been a heat since they met and she was suddenly overcome with a shy nervousness at the thought of meeting him like this.
She straightened an invisible line in her perfectly gorgeous white wedding dress. The very same one she was wearing when she had been wearing when the news had made its way to her.
At a corner of her room, three painters had been at work discreetly, capturing the image of her.
Zina breathed deeply, taking a step forward in her shoes that made no sound. And then another.
She made it to the door only for Malik Zorch’s dark face to be the first one that greeted her ever since she was holed up in her room.
But not even the woman’s dark aura was enough to dim Zina’s shine.
Behind Malik was Zina’s thirty-two guards, each looking more menacing than the next. To Zina’s surprise, Malik seemed taken aback at the sight of her.
The woman stepped back, bowing. "Greetings, Theta."
That was a first; not even the almighty Malik of one of the spy House Z’s that served Daemon had ever greeted her in a dignified manner like that.
The other guards followed suit, hand to their chest and head bowed to the ground.
Zina accepted their greetings good naturedly— it was after all not the day for her to get angry at the sight of the overwhelming number of her guards.
And then, she was being escorted to the greater hall.
