Chapter 252: No Matter How Far They Are

ZINA

"I was with Fionna throughout the tournament so she couldn’t have been the one who killed this lovely Red Sister."

Killed? What?

Zina stood stunned and confused as to what was going on. Fiona refused to meet her eyes, but her expression held steel in them.

Zina realised that the two golden haired Blood Collectors were actually of identical appearance. They were twins.

One of them flung her ponytail behind her as if it was an errant thing that disturbed her greatly. In a husky voice, she said.

"The Sword Red Hand was killed with a sharp plunge to her heart that came out through her back. A sharp plunge that possessed five distinct holes that fit into your weapon, Claw Red Hand. Do you still deny it?"

While the woman spoke, Zina was instead focused on examining her. She posssed luscious soft curves that were highlighted by her dark red leather ensemble and lips that were far fuller than Zina’s even. Her eyes though were dull, devoid of any emotions. If she were to guess, she would say that the Red Sister that stood before her was not one that was initiated into the organisation, instead she was one that was born

into the organisation.

Legends told of the fate that awaited Red Sisters that got pregnant in the organisation. While the torture and initiation process that Red Sisters went through meant that most of them lost the ability to conceive, there were often stories of Red Sisters whose bodies persisted and were able to conceive while at a job.

As for the children of those Red Sisters, death was a favour to them, while being alive meant that they were automatically the next Red Sisters trainee.

From zero month to when they eventually died, their lives belonged to the Scarlet Mother, and their cruelty knows no bounds. Their wolves were vicious, while their eyes normally held the kind of eternal bleakness one might never find in the eyes of Red Sisters that were initiated instead.

It was all that theory that made Zina truly believe that the the twins were born Red Sisters.

Fionna glared at the golden haired woman so fiercely that if looks could kill, then she would have been king engulfed in flames.

"Last I checked," Fionna gritted, "every werewolf possesses a claw unless they’re crippled. I find your judgment of me to be quite unfair, Blood Collector."

Their eyes sparkled with flames as if they wanted to jump themselves then and there and fight out this hatred that was brimming hot between them. Zina choose to be a spectator instead, taking them in with eyes filled with scrutiny. That was when she realised that the Sighter was staring at her intently.

Their eyes met, but he didn’t remove his eyes for once. She felt a zap of current go through her body at the brown stare and she was forced to take her eyes off his instead. Something about the man’s peculiar eyes, brown like the different shades of the brown bark of a tree, caused her heart to start palpitating strongly. The feeling was uncomfortable, and at the same time, it was almost inviting. Like he was compelling her with all his might.

Zina shook her head fiercely. She should not be thinking of such things. Instead of listening to their squabble, she faced the commander of the Epsilons.

"Why is there such a commotion at a place of crime?" Zina asked, "and what is the IceSavage Pack during here? Even the Red Sisters?"

The commander darted his eyes from one person to another as if trying to gauge where to start answering from. It was the brown eyed man, the Sighter, who spoke instead.

"The body of a Red Sister was found at this place. I was in the company of Red Hand Fionna when these five women came and obstructed us, demanding that the Red Hand follows them."

His voice was velvety, smooth, and in great contrast to his stature. There was raw underlying power in it, and it almost took Zina by surprise.

The man though seemed fearless. At least fearless enough to answer he questions audaciously when she never asked him.

"And who are you?" Zina asked instead, shrugging off the spell of his words.

His brown eyes seemed to stare at her infinitely even though it was just a second. Then he said, "I am known as the Sighter. I am a contestant of the tournament from the Iron Coast. Now that I’ve answered your question, then may I know who I am speaking to?"

The way the question was tossed so carelessly caused Serpah, who stood by her side, to gasp. Zina on her own part interpreted the question in a different way for it almsot sounded like a harsh interrogation in her ears.

Like the man knew who she was, but was asking because he believed her identity to be untrue.

"Preposterous!" Seraph chided, "even the lowest commoners know the Theta of the NorthSteed Pack and all the Arctic North when they see her. How much more a contestant who must have attended the coronation of His Majesty the king?!"

Seraph wasn’t entirely wrong. From Zina’s silvery white hair to her haunting light blue eyes, people usually recognized her no matter where she was at. But it would seem as though the man before her was vying for a different answer so Zina said instead.

"You ask me who I am, do you truly know nothing of it? Or are you simply daring me?"

The man stared at her again for a fraction of second before he then bowed, "I apologize for not recognizing you, Theta. I come from a remote place in the Iron Coast and have terrible long rage sight hence why I was unable to recognize you. Do forgive me."

Now it was Zina’s turn to be curious. She approached the man with one careful step, unaware of the the fact that their interaction seemed to be the center of attention.

"And who are you? For someone who calls himself the Sighter, you seem to have terrible sight?"

The man smiled deviously, but again, it only lasted for a fraction of a second. Zina’s heart began to race harder, startling her while the man said.

"My abilty as the Sighter hardly depends on my eyes, but rather, on my abilty to locate people. Whether it be runaway slaves, husbands that have abandoned their wives, children that have been snatched from home, or children that have been abandoned to the caprice’s of the world... I find them all Theta, no matter how far they are."

Zina stilled, for strangely, it felt as though the man was speaking to her in a manner that was more than just answering her question.
