Chapter 230: Declared A Desserter

FIONNA (Contd From Previous POV)

"For someone who looks astoundingly intelligent, you’re quite the clueless one when it comes to finding stuff."

Fionna rolled her eyes at the Sighter’s words while she concentrated on admiring the four objects in her hands. She had always thought herself a good judge of character, but she had to admit that she had missed the mark with the Sighter.

At first, she had thought him a recluse who didn’t like to speak. But contrary to that, the Sighter did like to speak. He spoke a lot, so much so that Fionna had gotten used to hearing that western accent of his.

"Where I come from, I was thought only how to take things and not how to find them."

"And pray tell, where is that?"

"If I tell you, will you reveal to me the secrets behind your equally as astounding finding skills?"

This was exactly four hours after her reunion with the Sighter of it could be called that, and she had to admit that Zina hadn’t been wrong when she said that the Sighter would be an invaluable help in that round of the tournament. The man had single handedly found the location of four items, and all that he did by simply examining trails, looking back at his compass, and then re-examining the trails again.

And in just four hours, they had found four items. More baffling than his adeptness was the fact that he had claimed that it had taken him way too long than he would have liked to find the items. In his own words, the Hiders were far too skillful and knew well to cover their trails.

"Secret?" He scoffed, "I was raised with rogue Hunters back at the West, and as you know, there’s no one who can find things as well as Rogue Hunters do... especially if they were trained in the West."

Fionna rolled her eyes again. She found that she was so at ease with the man that she resurrected a habit that she would rather have stowed away in private. "I do remember that after the Alpha King defeated the arising rogues, a bounty was put on the head of Madlea Sofyr’s son... what was his name again...."

"Zoric Sofyr?"

"Yes, Zoric Sofyr and yet no one could find him..." Fionna trailed off as she seemed to realize something. "How are you so familiar with his name?"

Last Fionna checked, Madlea Sofyr’s name was more popular when it came to rogues. And seeing that she was the one who had undertaken the mission to end the man’s life, she knew well of that fact.

The Sighter seemed to smile shrewdly. "I was raised with Rogue Hunters, remember?"

"Ahhhh...." Fionna trailed, not understanding why she herself seemed to think that there was something quite unnerving about the man before her.

"It’s your turn now, no?" He probed with a perfectly curved eyebrow that was buried in his mast of his brown hair. "Although I must say the peculiar ponytail almost gives you away."

"Does it?"

"You have skills that resembles that of an organization I do know. Although they operate in the East and I do not believe their members have the freedom to join a tournament such as this."

"They are called the Red Sisters, believe me saying the name doesn’t bite." Fionna finished off because just hearing the Sighter’s description of the very organization that had raised her gave her a headache.

"Mmm... one of them is standing before us right now."

Fionna slowed her strides as she discreetly wore her iron claw on her fingers. The Sighter didn’t seem to be unnerved by her new fighting stance as he continued to walk with his hands in his pocket while ignoring the woman with a sword who stood a few meters away from them.

"Before you joined the Red Sisters, you must have had a name? What could it have been?" The Sighter asked while pretending as though the Red Sister that Marcus DireWolf had warned her about earlier wasn’t standing before them.

Ever since the DireWolf Beta had dropped the quite cryptic words, Fionna had been on guard waiting for the Sword Red Hand.

The Sighter chuckled as if he was realizing something for the first time. "Your name with the Red Sisters must be the Claw Red Hand? Can’t believe I’ve been standing besides someone so powerful, but then again, you look so young...."

Fionna was half listening to his ramblings. All her attention was on the woman with an unsheathed sword in her hand while clad in blood red that made her pale skin stand out even more against her red lips. Her black raven like hair was braided into a ponytail behind her and it reached all the way to her waist.

While Fionna’s ponytail was already loosening with many strands of her hair sticking out everywhere, the Sword Red Hand’s ponytail was sharply and well kept as though it was just done now.

The world seemed to stop, alongside the Sighter’s words. Slowly, the woman unsheathed her sword and the ringing of it got Fionna’s blood pumping fiercely in her veins as she poised her artificial iron claw that had melded well with her fingers at the woman.

But the sword was not fully unsheathed, only half of the glinting metal was exposed before the red sister started walking towards them, wyws shinning with determination. Otherwise, she made no other move to completely unsheath the sword.

Finally, the woman stopped just a few feets away from them.

"Claw Red Hand..." the woman started, still gripping the sword before her face while holding both the sheath and hilt with each hand. "The Scarlet Mother summons you back to the base. Will you accept her graceful invitation, or would you rather continue with this foolishness?"

Without wasting a breathe, Fionna screamed. "I refuse!"

The Sword Red Hand smiled darkly. "In that case, I shall now declare Red Hand Fionna a desserter of the Red Sisters on behalf of the scarlet mother."

Fionna chuckled darkly. "Took you long enough."

"Do you think you can survive my sword?" The woman asked while her blood red lips stretched into a taunting smile. The sword started to unsheath slowly over again until it was fully unsheathed. The glinting metal shone even more under the sun and Fionna could see her reflection on the blade.

Gritting, Fionna said. "Do you think you can survive my claw either?"

Next thing, the Red Sister was hurtling for Fionna while Fionna screamed in turn, baring her artificial metal claw that was tinted with silver elements and wolfsbane at the tips.
