The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 364: The Man in My Dreams
Chapter 364: The Man in My Dreams
Because I hadn’t expected him to say anything in response, I was slightly surprised when the prince suddenly unwrapped his arms from around my body and distanced me from him just enough so that he could look directly into my eyes.
“This might be hard for you to accept but the answer is right in front of you, all you need to do is look in the mirror...” the prince replied before grinning a little at me.
“What do you mean?” I asked before blinking blankly at the prince.
“Come here with me for a bit, Mila,” the prince instructed as he got off the bed.
Although I was confused, I didn’t hesitate in taking his hand to let him help me off the bed. I followed him on shaky steps as he led me to a mirror. I truly never expected that I would find any meaningful answer just by staring at my own reflection in the mirror; however, it seemed that the prince was right once again.
“This can’t be...What on earth is this?” I exclaimed in shock as my eyes widened.
I couldn’t stop staring at my own reflection in the mirror and it did not take long for me to instantly recognize the change that had materialized on my body.
“My ears...” I murmured in shock before blinking my eyes rapidly as if the sight in front of me would change and disappear.
“I think your new ears are quite cute...” the prince commented before chuckling amusingly.
The pointed wolf ears that stood up on top of my head was quite a familiar sight that I had seen before on Prince Leonard, but I never imagined that one day I would have the same feature because I wasn’t a wolf.
At least, I wasn’t supposed to be one...
“This can’t be. I am not a wolf...” I mumbled softly as I hesitantly reached up my hand toward the ears on top of my head.
“Normal humans don’t grow wolf ears on top of their heads, Mila...” the prince said before he grinned mischievously at me.
I hated to admit it but he was right and when the tip of my fingers grazed the soft hair at the tip of one of those pointed ears, I had to admit that they were real. I could touch them. I could feel them, and they did not disappear into thin air. They were real...
“I’m a wolf?” I asked as I struggled to believe what I was seeing.
“Yes, and no,” the prince replied.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I asked as I whirled around to face the prince.
“Some might say that you are a wolf, but to put it more accurately, you have wolf genes in your blood. To put it even more accurately than that, you have a spirit of a wolf dwelling inside of you,” the prince explained as he stared intently at my face as if to gauge my reactions to his words.
“I’m sorry but I don’t quite understand,” I said quietly.
It wasn’t like I didn’t understand but more like I couldn’t quite believe it. I’ve lived my entire life thinking that I was a normal human being just like everybody else. So for me to be told that I had wolf genes running in my veins or that I was partially a wolf didn’t quite make any sense.
“Mila...” the prince called my name softly.
“Have I always been like this? Was I born like this or was this something that happened recently?” I asked in pure wonder.
I have been normal my whole life, at least that was what I thought, so the sudden change shocked me more than anything, and I began wondering if this was because of my relations with the prince.
“You were born like this and these traits are embedded in your genes,” the prince explained slowly.
“If that’s really the case, how come I have lived my life so normally until now? I’ve never shown any signs of being a wolf...” I said as I felt my feelings of frustration growing inside of me.
“Are you sure that you’ve never experienced anything that you could consider abnormal or even paranormal in your life?” the prince asked.
I wasn’t sure what he was referring to and my mind was so messed up that I couldn’t think straight.
“I can’t think of anything. I think everything about my life was normal except for my memory loss up until the moment that I met you...” I replied honestly.
Prince Leonard suddenly looked slightly uncomfortable. And I realized that my words might have sounded like I was placing the blame on him.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean it like that,” I said regretfully.
“Did you ever have any strange dreams?” the prince asked as if he was trying to get to something.
Strange dreams?
At first I wondered what would count as a strange dream. Then suddenly it felt like light bulbs lit up in my mind when I began to catch on to what he was referring to. I did start to have a series of strange dreams at some point, I began recalling all those dreams that I had of an unknown man talking to me. However, there was no way that I could recount the details of those dreams to the prince without feeling embarrassed.
“I think I might have had some strange dreams...” I replied softly
“What did you dream about?” the prince asked as he stared intently at my face.
I could tell the prince was waiting for my answer, but I didn’t know how to talk about those dreams without sounding so perverted.
“Well in those dreams...I could hear a man’s voice. He would talk to me like he knew me and sometimes it felt like he was my lover. Although I don’t know who he is, and I don’t think I’ve ever met him before...” I confessed in a shaky voice.
