The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid
Chapter 363: Return to Me

Chapter 363: Return to Me

“I love you. We love you. Remember that we will always love you,” my mother told me as she reached up a hand to stroke my hair.

“You have to go now. There is not enough time. Run as fast as you can and don’t look back. Forget about us and forget about everything. Start a fresh new life, Mila...” my father said as he placed a hand on top of my head.

I had no idea what happened after that because suddenly I felt a whirling sensation deep inside of my mind and then everything went pitch black.

“Mila! Mila!”

I could hear someone calling my name but his voice felt so soft as if he was so far away from me. My lips wouldn’t move and I couldn’t make a sound. It felt like I had completely no control over my body and I couldn’t move a muscle. It just felt like I was in an unknown place while just floating in thin air.

“Mila! Mila! Can you hear me?”

I heard that voice again. A man was calling to me so desperately and with each call of my name, I could feel his voice getting louder as if he was coming closer to me.

An aggressive force suddenly pulled my body forward but my mind felt so blank and it seemed like I couldn’t think straight. Suddenly, my mind went blank and I could not see or hear anything. After what seemed like a short while later, I heard that same voice call my name one more time. It felt like I had somehow managed to thanks to that voice calling my name. The darkness receded and then completely disappeared, and I was greeted with a familiar scene of my bedroom. My feelings and my senses came flooding back to me, and I knew that I had returned to a reality. The dream was now over, to be more accurate, the nightmare was over.

I turned and saw Prince Leonard staring at me with an extremely worried expression on his face and I wondered just how long I had been out for. Since the Prince was with me in the dream, I figured that he must have experienced at least part of what I had experienced and seen.

“Are you okay? Mila?” the prince asked me with a very concerned look on his face.

I wanted to tell him that I was fine but I knew that my lie wouldn’t be convincing. I couldn’t even understand my own emotions, and I felt extremely numb inside. The wet and warm feeling that I felt on my fingertips as I reached up my hand towards my face told me that I had been crying in reality as well as in my dreams.

So many things happened that I didn’t quite know how to process all that I have seen. My body still trembled from the shock.

“My parents are gone...” I murmured as my face felt so numb.

I knew beyond a doubt that what I saw was a part of my missing memories, and that meant that my parents must have passed away that night in the dark forest. That night I must have run away just as my father had instructed and then someone found me wandering in the forest and brought me to the orphanage where I grew up.

“Don’t cry, Mila,” the prince said comfortingly as he put his arms around my body and held me tight.

“I’m sorry but I can’t stop. I’m just so shocked,” I confess honestly as I buried my face into the prince’s firm chest and let him hold me tight.

“This is all my fault. We shouldn’t have probed into your memories like that. I should have realized that you must have blocked out those memories because it was too painful for you to remember,” the prince said apologetically.

“It’s not your fault. If anything, I need to thank you for helping me regain my memories...even if they were painful ones. I’m glad that I got to see my parents’ face, and that I could remember them again...” I thanked him honestly.

The prince was right that it was a painful experience to witness my parents death. However, I did not regret it at all. Remembering them felt like the right thing to do and I preferred to carry the burden of their memories rather than to completely forget them.

“Thank you for helping me remember my parents again,” I thank the prince once more.

It was great that I could remember the faces of my parents and then I began slowly recalling some memories from my childhood that I shared with them. That made me feel like slowly over time, I might regain even more of the memories that I had sealed away from my childhood.

“I think that everything is slowly coming back to me and that I would end up remembering everything. At least, that’s what I hope would happen,” I confess to the prince softly.

“That’s good but I just wish that it didn’t have to be so painful and difficult for you,” the prince said as he stroked my hair.

I let the prince comfort me and my tired body and soul because that was just what I needed at the time. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how lonely and lost I would have been had I woken up alone in bed without him by my side. I was right that mating with the prince would lead him to unlock my memories and my body still felt sore from the after effects of our passionate session.

The wolves killed my parents...

That was the truth that my memory showed. My parents didn’t simply pass away from natural causes, but they were murdered by a large pack of wolves. They were hunted down like prey and ended up sacrificing their life just so that their only daughter could survive.

How did we all end up in that situation? Why were we being pursued the way that we were?

“Why does something like that have to happen? My parents were killed by wolves. We were hunted down like worthless prey, and in the end, only I survived at the cost of my parent’s lives,” I murmured sadly as I felt another tear roll down my face.
