Chapter 244: Lovers for the Night

“Can you? That’s not what your father told me when he gave me a call,” Madame Sand said without much emotion.

“I don’t...need your help...” Regina said before turning her face away.

“You’re right about that. I can’t help you, but I can arrange for someone who can...” Madame Sand said before her lips curved into a knowing smile.

“Someone who can?” Regina said as her eyes widened with interest.

“That’s right. Your desire to mate can only calm down once you’ve mated. You should know that well enough,” Madame Sand replied calmly.

“P-Prince...Leonard...” Regina said as she quickly sat up on the bed.

Madame Sand’s lips curved into a regretful smile as she prepared herself to break the unfortunate news to the poor young woman in front of her. The clear interest and excitement that she displayed only made it harder for Madame Sand to tell her the truth.

“Prince Leonard is currently preoccupied...with someone else,” she said with a straight face.

“Someone else...?” Regina muttered as her mood immediately darkened.

Madame Sand heaved another sigh. This was the exact reaction that she had expected from the first moment that she answered the call from Regina’s father. If only Prince Leonard was as obedient as his older brother, then things wouldn’t be so hard for her to organize things. However, apart from Prince Darius, the other two brothers weren’t exactly strict about adhering to the committee’s decision on who they mate with. The Madame glanced down at Regina’s hurtful face while she also reflected on the dire situation right in front of her.

Madame Sand knew better than anyone that the committee wouldn’t dare order Prince Leonard to mate with the prime minister’s daughter because intervening so directly with politics when it came to the line of succession was a big and extremely sensitive move. The prime minister was already a powerful figure without adding his daughter as the queen into the mix. Prince Leonard, on the other hand, wouldn’t comply with the order regardless. The result of that is the poor girl suffering from her heat that lay on the bed in front of her.

“Well, if all you’re worried about is how to sit on the throne as the next queen then I suppose any of the three princes would do...” Madame stated factually.

“No! I won’t...just get out!” Regina yelled stubbornly.

Madame Sand’s eyes narrowed before she shook her head sadly from side to side in dismay. Even if she wanted to, there weren’t many options that she could take to help Regina out. Seeing how adamant the girl was about mating with Prince Leonard, Madame Sand came to understand the feelings that she must have toward the prince. The unfortunate thing for Regina was that her father probably does not care about her feelings about the matter.

“Well, I wish you luck, My Lady...” Madame Sand said after making the decision to give up and leave things the way they are.

As far as she was concerned, Prince Leonard is with Mila just as he had requested while Prince Darius is following the orders of the committee as he always does. The only headache left on her plate was Prince Florian who she had no doubt was running around mating with all his favorites. Without glancing back at the suffering figure on the bed, Madame Sand quietly took her leave.

“Please wait here. Prince Darius will be here shortly,” a butler said politely before leaving with a slight bow.

“Thank you...” Asana turned to thank the man.

She did not pay attention to the door closing behind her when she was left all alone in Prince Darius’s bedroom. The luxury of the room did not surprise her, but the lack of any personal touch did. Her eyes wandered curiously around the room as she took in the luxurious interior of the room that was void of any personal signs of its supposed owner.

“So empty...” she murmured as she took a few steps into the room.

The room felt slightly cold and something about the atmosphere made her feel oddly nervous. It was rare for her to feel that way and she wasn’t sure what was causing her to feel slightly anxious as she slowly walked around the prince’s room. The butler did not mention anything about her having to stay still in the room, so she was taking her liberties to explore the prince’s room a little while she waited for him although she did not expect to find anything interesting given her initial assessment.

The room felt very lifeless and not quite lived in. Everything was so clean and orderly that it made her feel uncomfortable. After a while of exploring, Asana quickly lost interest and decided to sit and wait patiently like a good and obedient girl for her partner for the night to make his appearance. She did not mind at all that the prince was running late. The less time that they had together, the less work she would have to do to please him.

“Then again...I can’t wait to get this over with...” she muttered as she raised her arms over her head and stretched.

Suddenly, the door to the bedroom opened and drew her attention toward it. With her arms still raised and entwined above her head in a stretching pose, Asana turned toward the door to see Prince Darius in the entrance. A shiver ran down her spine at his sudden appearance and she couldn’t quite tell if she was spooked or if she was excited because it could have been a bit of both.

“Prince Darius...” she said sweetly as she got up to her feet and smiled.

“You must be Asana. Thank you for coming, please take a seat...” Darius said as he gestured with his hand for her to take a seat on the sofa.

“This sounds a little like a job interview...not that I’ve had an interview like this before...” Asana said with little giggle as she sat back down on the sofa.

“You’re quite talkative,” Darius commented as he sat down on the opposite sofa.

“Do you dislike it? I can stop talking if you wish me to,” Asana said without losing any of her confidence.
