The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 212: Reality and Dream
Chapter 212: Reality and Dream
The two women started cleaning up in the kitchen with Salena following Jessie’s instructions. Salena’s felt on edge as various disturbing thoughts ran through her mind. Ever since Prince Darius had asked for her to report to him about Prince Leonard and Mila’s relationship, she had felt extremely conflicted. Although she didn’t believe that Prince Darius had any harmful intentions toward his brother or toward Mila, she was still concerned.
“Salena...Salena!” Jessie called her friend’s name when she saw Salena clearly spacing out.
Jessie shook her head at her friend while she wondered what her little friend was thinking about when she’s in the middle of work. Salena’s eyes seemed to return to life after she finally snapped out of the daze that she was in.
“I’m sorry...” Salena apologized softly when she realized that Jessie had caught her spacing out.
“Did something happen? You’re even more quiet than usual and you seem kind of down...” Jessie asked with clear worry in her tone.
“Umm...nothing. It’s nothing at all. Nothing happened and I’m feeling fine. I’m not down...or anything like that...” Salena quickly denied.
Jessie gave her friend a suspicious look as she narrowed her eyes. After a moment of staring at her friend’s face and flustered reaction, she decided to let it slide. If Salena didn’t want to talk about it then she didn’t want to push her or make her uncomfortable. Jessie was always her optimistic self and thought that it was probably nothing serious otherwise Salena would have told her about it.
“If you say so. Let me know if you need my help, ok?” Jessie said before showing her friend an encouraging smile.
“Thank you, Jessie,” Salena thanked her friend.
“Let’s go. We still have a couple of things to do,” Jessie pointed out as she headed for the door.
Salena just nodded her head once as her thoughts consumed her attention again. She watched passively as Jessie headed for the door and left the kitchen. Her hands balled into tight fists at her side as her head started to throb slightly in pain, she realized that the time would soon come for her to make her first report to Darius just as he had requested. At first, she had thought that the task would be simple, and she would have to report that the prince came over to see Mila and the fact that they had their lessons together.
She took in a deep breath and let out a loud sigh when she recalled all the moans and cries of pleasure that she happened to witness just earlier. Salena’s teeth began chewing on her lower lip as she debated with herself whether or not something like that had to be included in her report. She let out an even louder sigh when she realized that there was no way that she could report that to Darius and that was because she didn’t have the courage to talk about something like that.
With her potential to work at the library on the line, she hesitated about what to do. When she agreed to Darius’s proposal, she had not suspected things to be so difficult. After shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she quickly walked out of the kitchen before Jessie would worry about her.
...
There was a wolf. A very large wolf with black fur and piercing blue eyes. I have never seen a wolf that large before, but at the same time, it felt like I had seen it before. The snow that covered the ground and the surrounding large and tall trees of the landscape was white and thick. It looked cold but I felt a contrasting warmth in my body. It felt like I had seen this landscape before and that I might have been there before, but at the same time, I was certain that I haven’t been there. It wasn’t possible that I could have been there before because I have never travelled anywhere far from the orphanage where I grew up in.
I knew that I should have felt scared, but I wasn’t. I knew that I should have turned and ran, but I didn’t. All I did was stand there in the middle of snow-covered ground as the large wolf slowly approached me. Its movements looked extremely graceful and mesmerizing to watch. There was a gleam of light in the wolf’s eyes that made the beast seem so intelligent and knowing.
In my mind, I started regretting my lack of action. I should have ran when I had the chance but now it was too late. The wolf was standing right in front of me as its eyes stared up at my face. None of it seemed real but it all seemed so real at the same time. Our eyes met and there wasn’t an ounce of fear in my body. All I felt was a sense of calm and peace.
Can wolves normally grow to be this big?
Slowly, the wolf came even closer until I could feel it’s breath softly against the back of my fingers and hand. If I moved my hand a little, I could touch the beast’s black fur. It didn’t take long for me to give in to my impulsive desire to stroke the beast’s fur. I moved my hand to pet the fur on top of the beast’s large head; however, all I felt was thin air. My eyes blinked rapidly in confusion as my hand seemed to pass through the wolf’s head.
Oh, it’s not real...
I couldn’t believe how disappointed I felt at that moment when I realized that the beast in front of me wasn’t touchable and probably wasn’t real.
“Mila...”
I thought I heard a very familiar voice call my name softly. The voice seemed so distant that it also didn’t seem real. At the sound of the voice, the wolf quickly retreated from me. I cocked my head in confusion as I watched the large beast walk away from me as if making its escape. My body wouldn’t move and all I did was watch the wolf walk further and further away from me until it disappeared from view.
