The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid
Chapter 147: Roses and Pain

Chapter 147: Roses and Pain

My chest tightened and I was panting harder and harder as we descended the hill.

“Are you tired, Mila? We should be there soon...” the prince told me reassuringly.

I wasn’t really tired, but the smell of roses was making me feel very strange inside. Of course, there was no way that I could tell him that suddenly I could smell his scent so much stronger than before, and it seemed to be driving me insane. I couldn’t resist the urge and ended up breathing in very deeply. The scent of roses flooded my senses and intoxicated my mind along with my yearning for him. The real problem was that the sweet smell of roses was so irresistible to me. Even though I knew that inhaling it would make me feel strange, I couldn’t stop breathing in his scent.

“Prince Leonard...Leo...” I murmured his name as I turned my face to face him.

“What’s wrong? Are you, car sick?” he asked with worry.

I wondered if my face looked unwell because the prince seemed very concerned. As if on cue, we arrived at our destination. The car came to a stop and the prince’s attention was solely focused on me as his blue gaze swept over my face. His beautiful fingers approached my face and soon I felt their softness against my cheek. My eyes drifted close as I moved my face to press my cheek against his fingers. His touch felt so blissful against my skin.

“Mila...” he called my name softly.

“Leo...” I murmured his name in reply.

It was hard for me to speak because I was panting so much harder now. My chest rose and fell as I struggled to breathe while soft whimpering sounds escaped from me. I started feeling a little scared as I wondered what was happening to me.

I heard the sound of the car door opening and then closing when the prince got out of the car. Soon after, the door on my side opened and then his arms were under me a moment before he lifted me into his arms. Lazily, I opened my eyes to stare up at his handsome face. Our eyes met and I curled my fingers into the front of his shirt.

“We’ll spend the night here,” the prince stated flatly.

That was when I started to look around at where we were. A large building loomed over us. The building was lit up with orange light and it seemed to be made of so much glass. I gasped at how tall it was as my eyes traveled upwards.

“Is this a hotel?” I asked.

“Is this your first time staying at one?” he asked in return.

I was sure that not all hotels looked as luxurious and amazing as this one, but I had no experience at staying at any hotel before. I wondered what it would be like to stay at a hotel, but even more than that, I wondered what it would be like to spend the night outside of the palace with Prince Leonard.

“Yes...” I replied simply and truthfully.

I could feel the prince smiling down at me but I was too focused on pressing my nose against his chest to breathe in his smell as if it could satisfy some kind of hunger inside of me. I closed my eyes as focused on breathing in his rosy scent while he carried me inside of the hotel building.

...

The sound of the door closing behind us and an automatic sound of some mechanics moving told me that the door had closed and locked securely behind us. I had a pretty good idea of what would happen when a door locked behind me by this time because it had happened so often since I moved to live in the palace. The beauty of the luxuriously decorated living room that greeted me took my breath away.

This place wasn’t supposed to be a palace so why was it so lavishly decorated like this?

The prince carried me towards the large burgundy velvet sofa and placed me down carefully on it. I wanted to scream in frustration when his arms let go of me and the warmth of his chest parted from the side of my face. I watched as I tried to control my urges to reach for him and grab him as Prince Leonard crouched down in front of me. While I began wondering what he was going to do, I felt his hand on the shoes that I had on.

“We should take this off. I bet you have plenty of blisters from wearing them...” the prince said with a disapproving shake of his head.

“They took...my old shoes...” I murmured like a lost child as I felt tears welled up in my eyes.

I had no idea why I was being so emotionally all of a sudden. Perhaps it was the way that the prince’s blue eyes gazed up so tenderly into my face that made me want to garner even more of his sympathies. His face relaxed and his lips turned into a beautiful smile. I wanted to smile back at him but the pain that I felt as he removed one of my shoes made me wince instead.

“Your feet are a mess. Why did you keep walking in these when it hurt?” he asked with some annoyance in his tone.

His eyes turned scornful as he narrowed them at me. I felt extremely stupid for bearing with the pain for as long as I did; however, it wasn’t like I had any other choice. These were the only pair of shoes that I had brought with me.

“Tomorrow, I’m taking you shopping. You’re picking out proper shoes that won’t hurt you when you walk. Got it?” he said it like a command.

“Yes, Your Highness,” I replied as if receiving a command from my master because that was what it felt like.

The prince shook his head at me before pulling my other shoe off of my feet. I gasped as a stinging pain raced up my legs from my foot. Prince Leonard flung the shoes away onto the floor like it was some useless garbage.
