The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid
Chapter 148: Tender Care

Chapter 148: Tender Care

“I should just go back to wearing my maid uniform...” I muttered my thoughts to myself.

“You’re not a maid anymore so you can’t do that,” the prince cut in quite sternly.

I bit on my lower lip before another thought of mine would materialize into words again. His hands were still on my foot and my ankle and just his touch made my body tremble. My heart started racing although all he was doing was touching my foot.

“Thank you for helping me. I think it will be fine now...” I quickly said.

“What do you mean by fine? You’re bleeding...” the prince replied as he narrowed his eyes at me.

“I...” I began saying but had to hold my words when the prince quickly stood up.

“Just sit still...” he ordered firmly.

I watched from the sofa as he made his way to a telephone that was in the room as I wondered who he was going to call this late at night.

“Excuse me. Is there a first-aid box in the room or can you bring me one?” the prince spoke to whoever was on the other end of the line.

I was surprised that someone was still up to serve him at this hour or was that normal for a hotel of this caliber?

“Prince Leonard...I don’t think...” I protested a little when I realized that I was the one causing him so much trouble.

It was because of my carelessness that he had to trouble himself in taking care of me. I could already guess what he was going to do with the first aid kit that he had requested for. The prince held up a hand in my direction to silence my protests while he continued conversing with the person on the phone.

“Thank you. That will be all. Please hurry,” he said before hanging up.

I was amazed again at how fast someone was at our door. It didn’t take long for a ringing sound to go off in the room that announced the arrival of whoever it was who was bringing us the first aid kit. The prince shot me a look that told me to stay seated before he headed silently to the door to retrieve what he had requested for.

“It’s fine, I can do it myself,” I said quickly when the prince crouched down in front of me again to examine my feet.

“Just sit and stay still...” he repeated his command once more.

His fingertips felt burning hot when he touched my skin and began cleansing my blisters and wounds. It stung a little, but I winced more at the heat from his touch. I wanted to look away from him, but I couldn’t. Instead, my eyes kept staring at the graceful movements of his fingers as he applied some medicine to my blistered before putting bandages on them.

“Thank you...” I thanked him in a small whisper when he was done.

“I should put a ban on you wearing high heels...” he muttered as if talking to himself.

Although I felt disturbed that he had to worry about me, I also couldn’t stop my lips from curving into a small smile. Prince Leonard stood up straight again before he let out a soft sigh while I couldn’t take my eyes off his graceful movements. The sofa shifted under his weight as he sat down right next to me. He turned to look at me and our eyes immediately met.

‘Mila...’

“Yes?” I replied automatically when I heard him call my name.

His lips curved into a smirk before he chuckled softly. I gasped as my hand flew to cover my open mouth as my eyes widened at the sudden realization that he hadn’t really called my name. It was probably because we did all that on the hill that our minds were connected, and I could hear him calling my name in my mind.

I wondered if I’ll ever get used to this. It was strange but this time, to my relief, my head didn’t ache at all when our minds connected.

“It doesn’t hurt at all this time...” I said in pure amazement.

‘It’s because you’re not resisting me or not as much as before...’

I heard his reply loud and clear in my mind and it was as if he had voiced those words out loud. It was funny how he had told me that this ability to connect our minds was useless; however, he was still playing around with it. Although we were alone and no one could hear our conversation, it still felt a little special to be connected with him like this.

‘Do you really think this ability is useless?’ I asked in my mind before I could stop myself.

‘It depends...’ he replied and he smiled at me.

The prince never finished his thought and that made me realize that I couldn’t read his mind although our minds were connected. I guess this is as far as this ability goes. We could communicate but we couldn’t exactly read each other’s thoughts or feelings and perhaps it was better that way. I had a hard enough time hiding away my thoughts and feelings from the prince as it was. It would be a disaster if he could read my every thought every time that our minds were connected.

“I can’t tell what you’re thinking...” I murmured while sounding very regretful.

“Why? Do you want to know what I’m thinking that badly?” he asked as he cocked his head slightly to the side while he smiled at me.

I couldn’t deny that there were times when I felt like I would give anything just to know what he was really thinking and feeling. It wasn’t like I could admit that in front of him so directly and honestly, so I decided to look away from him instead.

“Mila...” the prince called my name.

“Y-Yes?” I replied.

Since he was calling me, I had to shift my gaze to look at him once more. I immediately regretted staring into his captivating blue eyes because it made my heart race wildly again.
