The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 138: A Date
Chapter 138: A Date
I think he’s told me something like that before and after spending some time with him, I was quite convinced that he could do that much; however, that wasn’t what I was asking.
“I don’t mean it like that. I mean...when our minds are connected, can you tell what I’m thinking?” I asked in pure wonder.
As for me, I couldn’t tell what he was thinking at all regardless of whether our minds were connected or not. He was just extremely hard to read and understand. My two dear friends told me that everyone thinks that he’s a “public mystery” and I could empathize with every single person who shared that view.
“Should we give it a try?” the prince asked just when the car came to a stop at a red light.
Give it a try?
My arms immediately wrapped around myself protectively as I turned to glare at him. The last time that we gave it a try, he did...so many things to me...
It took so much action just to get our mind to connect and then all we could do was communicate with each other. He called my name and I managed to call his name in return. Then we exchanged a very short and basic conversation. In the end, it felt like everything that I had let him do to me was worthless when he just told me casually that we could have just used a phone to communicate. After that, he gave me a mobile phone and I even got his phone number. Now that I thought about it, I haven’t used that phone yet because there was no need for me to.
“As much as I don’t mind doing it in the car, I’m a little hungry and not yet in the mood...” the prince said teasingly.
His clear lack of interested made me feel even more embarrass for acting so protective of myself. The car suddenly took a turn and entered a narrower road that made me feel like we were nearing our destination.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
I had been so busy talking to the prince about other things that it completely slipped my mind that he had not yet told me where he was taking me. It was probably partly my fault for forgetting to ask him about it.
“A place where we can get very good dinner...” he replied.
“You took me out here for dinner?” I asked blankly.
“What were you expecting, Little Girl?” he turned to ask me with a suggestive smile.
I wasn’t expecting anything and that was probably because I didn’t know what to expect. This was frankly my first time coming out at night with someone of the opposite sex.
“I’m sorry. I just didn’t know what to expect...” I apologized softly.
The car came to a stop by that time, and it seemed like we had arrived at our destination. I looked outside the car’s window to see a tall building decorated with many orange warm light. The sight was magnificently beautiful, and the building was so large.
“Mila...” the prince called my name softly.
“Y-Yes?” I replied as I turned to face him.
“Let’s officially start our little date, shall we?” he asked invitingly.
“Our date?” I mumbled blankly.
I’ve heard of people going out on dates before, but I have never experienced going out on a date myself. Did the prince invite me out here with him on a date?
“Don’t tell me that you don’t know what a date is?” he asked as he raised his brows up a little.
“I...I’ve heard of it...” I replied honestly.
“Hmm...you’ve heard of it...” the prince said as he seemed unconvinced by my words.
The expression that the prince had on his face when he smiled back at me was one that I had never seen before and I found a hint of curiosity springing up in my mind. It wasn’t the first time that I felt intrigued and captivated by Prince Leonard. Once again, I couldn’t stop my desire to learn more about him.
“Let’s go, Mila. I’ll teach you what a date is,” the prince said.
...
“Would you like white or red wine?” Prince Leonard asked me from across the table.
After the exciting elevator ride up to the top-most floor of the tall building, we emerged in a restaurant. It was my first time riding up an elevator made of glass that allowed me to see the outside. The view of the city’s nightscape as we ascended was breathtakingly beautiful that I couldn’t stop staring at it. We were immediately escorted to a table with a clear night view after the waitress spotted the prince.
The warm orange flame from the candle that was placed in nicely in a beautiful glass container on the middle of the table casted shadow and light onto the prince’s face as the flame danced around in the wind. I hesitated because I didn’t know what to choose.
“Have you drunk wine before?” he asked.
“Not really...” I replied a little shyly.
“Let me change my question. Have you drunk any alcohol before?” Prince Leonard asked.
“No, Your Highness...” I replied.
“Call me Leonard. Better yet, call me Leo,” the prince instructed and his voice sounded so warm and seductive.
The way the light from the candle reflected in his blue eyes made his eyes seem to sparkle like magical orbs and I was immediately drawn to him as he kept his eyes on my face.
“I don’t think that would be appropriate,” I softly stated my worry.
“Why wouldn’t it be? We’re on a date right now. Actually, I want you to call me Leo whenever we’re together,” he said as if that was an even better idea.
“I don’t think...” I murmured as I began to hesitate.
“Leo. Say it. How hard can it be? It’s much shorter than my full name and sounds much less annoying than when you call me ‘Your Highness’ just like everyone else,” he said without backing down from his demand.
