Instead of feeling relief, I winced at the sound of the prince’s voice. I guess I should have gone into hiding if I wanted to avoid him for real instead of just sitting here on a bench in the garden out in the open.

“Your Highness...” Madame Sand said with clear surprise before she quickly bowed to show her respect.

It would have been a disaster for me if she found out the truth that I had run out here to escape the prince. Although I didn’t think that it was my fault, I also knew that Madame wouldn’t think the same way. As far as I was concerned, this was all Prince Leonard’s fault for telling me all those things all of a sudden. It was shocking enough for me to believe that he was a wolf, not to mention everything he told me about Ultimate Alphas and how honorable maidens are supposed to produce them.

Then there was that super important detail on the three princes’ battle for the throne where the deciding factor would be which out of them would have an Ultimate Alpha son first. I found that to be the craziest thing out of them all and I was so shocked and scared.

I glanced at the prince’s handsome face as he smiled politely at Madame Sand, and I felt heat rush to my face and knew that I must be blushing wildly.

How am I supposed to have a son with the prince?

That’s just insane...

“Mila...” the prince called my name.

“Y-Yes?” I replied after his voice dragged me suddenly out of my thoughts.

“I did request for you to be my honorable maiden for tonight so maybe it wasn’t exactly fair for me to turn up so early in the day,” he said with a wry grin.

“Not at all, Your Highness. It is an honor for all of us here in the Sacred Chamber for you to visit us...” Madame Sand quickly said with a polite smile.

“Is that so? Don’t fret, I’ll be back again tonight after sorting out some business. Wait for me in your room, Mila,” the prince instructed.

“Yes...Your Highness...” I replied in a whisper.

Prince Leonard smiled at me, and I couldn’t quite meet his eyes. I glanced down at the ground at my feet as he walked past me and then he was gone. What was I thinking about just now? There’s no way that I would have the prince’s child.

“Tonight, might not be your first night with the prince; however, it is your first night together after you’ve moved under my care. Come with me for a moment, Mila,” Madame Sand said as she gestured with the wave of her hand for me to follow her.

Tonight?

He did mention that he would come to see me...

I had a feeling that some serious lesson was waiting for me from the very strict Madame Sand. After taking in a deep breath, I followed the Madame back into the building obediently. Soon I found myself back in the large lecture hall where I was before, and I sat down on the exact same seat.

“I have no idea how your other nights with the prince progressed; however, I won’t have you failing to perform your duties now that you’re under my care. No one, including you, will be a disgrace and bring shame to the honor of the honorable maidens. Is that clear?” she said as her eyes narrowed at me.

She was so fired up about getting this right that I started to stress out about it. The prince did say that he would be back to spend the night with me and that I should wait for him in my room; however, does that really mean that we’re really going to do it?

‘Tonight, and every single night that I choose you as my honorable maiden or as my Satisfier, you will mate with me until I am satisfied...’

Prince Leonard’s words came back to me, and I could hear him so clearly as well as recall the look that he had in his impressively beautiful blue eyes. If I chose to believe in his words, then tonight there wasn’t much doubt about what he expected me to do to satisfy him and fulfill my role. A scoff escaped my lips when I thought of the King’s smug face when he appointed me to become an honorable maiden as if it was some honorable position as the name suggested.

In the end, I was sold to become the prince’s slave to serve and satisfy his every desire. If I knew that this was what awaited me, perhaps, I would have rather searched for a non-existence flower in the deep and dark forest or polish up a thousand marble statues under Lady Regina’s orders.

“Are you paying attention? Mila?” Madame Sand snapped at me.

Of course, I was too wrapped up in my thoughts to even hear a single word that she had said. What was she talking about just now?

“I’m so sorry...I was just...confused...” I replied quite truthfully.

“That’s fine. Let me ask you this again so that we are on the same page. Excuse my directness. Mila, have you mated with the prince already?” Madame Sand asked directly.

I could tell that she was all business when she asked me that; however, I had very mixed feelings in describing the intimate relations that I’ve shared with the prince. So, I hoped that she wouldn’t ask for any more details.

“No, Madame. Also, I think that there’s been a misunderstanding. You see, I never mated with Prince Leonard, and he probably doesn’t favor me compared to the other honorable maidens that already lived here before me...so...” I began pleading my case.

Maybe if I could convince Madame Sand that the king has gotten this all wrong, then perhaps I could go back to being a simple palace maid.
