The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid
Chapter 129: Escaping from Him

Chapter 129: Escaping from Him

The prince smiled at me before he leaned even closer to me. Our nose touched softly while my body still felt as frozen as before. I could feel his warm breath on my face, and I could smell the faint smell of roses that emanated from his body. My heart raced so fast and hard in my chest that it started to hurt.

Please...don’t come any closer...

“If you really don’t want to do this, you need to push me away...” he whispered softly.

The warmth breath that accompanied his words brushed softly against my lips. Although he wasn’t touching me, it felt like there were countless invisible hands holding my body down and stopping me from moving. His lips moved closer to mine slowly as if everything was happening in slow motion.

He’s going to kiss me.

I have to resist him...and I have to do it right now...

If he kisses me, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop him...or myself...

As if wrestling with an invisible force, I dragged my arms up from my side and pushed as hard as I could against the prince’s chest. The prince’s body moved a little away from me. I had no idea who was more shocked at my sudden action, and I didn’t have time to ponder that thought. As soon as I had the opportunity, I got up and raced towards the door and then out of my new room.

...

What did I just do?!

Why did I run from him like that?!

Prince Leonard is probably so mad at me right now...

After running from my room, I raced along the hallway and then down the stairs as fast as my legs could take me. My chest burned as I gasped for air. Not knowing the layout of the building very well, I had no idea where I was going and instead of taking the elevator, my feet automatically took me to the stairs. I ran all the way down to the first floor before making my way out through the front door and into the large garden in front of the building. I had no idea what I was doing and why I ended up there when my feet finally landed on the soft grass.

The air felt extra fresh in the garden and that helped me catch up on pumping enough oxygen into my bloodstream. My mind was a mess and although I had forced my body to move to push the prince away from me, I was now doubting if I had made the right decision. It wasn’t going to be the first time that the prince would kiss my lips so why did I get so flustered and scared like that.

Was it because he told me that he’s actually a wolf?

A werewolf...a human-wolf hybrid or whatever it was supposed to be called. My legs felt weak, and I was thankful for the marble bench that was nearby. I sat down on it without hesitation as my mind struggled to process everything that Madame Sand and Prince Leonard had told me. This was just my first day in the Sacred of Chambers and it already felt like I was ready to lose my mind.

Werewolves aren’t real. There’s no way that there’s a wolf spirit of some kind inside the prince and there’s no way that there’re any wolf genes in his blood. That was what I wanted to tell myself and make myself believe; however, there was supposed to be no way that those furry ears could grow on top of Prince Leonard’s head. My eyes glanced down at my fingertips as I brushed them against each other while clearly recalling the softness of those furry ears that I have caressed.

It’s real...

Why did this have to be real?

I had never prayed so hard for someone to lie to me like that before. I wished that everything that I was told today was a lie; however, I knew that it wasn’t possible. There was no way that Prince Leonard would lie to me about something like that. I realized that I was scared of the fact that he was a wolf; however, when I thought about him getting angry at me for running away from him, I felt an even colder and worst fear that made a shiver run up my spine before my body trembled.

“What are you doing here?” a stern voice asked me from behind.

“Oh...” I turned around to see Madame Sand standing there with narrowed eyes.

Both her hands were on her hips as she stared down at me. She was clearly not pleased to see me there and I fumbled to find the right words to explain to her what had happened.

“Why are you here? Where is Prince Leonard?” she asked while sounding even more strict than before.

“Umm...he’s still in my room...I think...” I replied in a small voice.

“What do you mean by ‘you think’?” she asked, and I could tell that she wasn’t particularly impressed by my answer.

Well, exactly like it sounded. He was there when I ran away from him so I guess that he was still there, but I didn’t know that for certain. It didn’t take me long for me to realize that I shouldn’t tell Madame Sand that I had just ran from Prince Leonard. Nothing about my behavior just now aligned with the expectations of honorable maidens to serve their master.

“He was there when I left...” I mumbled.

“Why did you leave the room? I thought the prince wanted to educate you himself,” Madame Sand asked curiously.

“I...” I murmured as my eyes darted all around while my mind tried to come up with an excuse that would sound believable.

“I told her to take a break and get some fresh air outside because the lesson was clearly getting too much for her. It’s her first day here, so I figured that we shouldn’t scare her...just yet...” a familiar voice sounded from behind me.
