Just referring to the intimate acts of love as mating made my body shiver. However, it seemed to be the usual term used to describe sex for the alphas and that was probably because of the wolves inside them.

“The king would never make such a mistake. Even if you haven’t mated with the prince yet, the time would come soon, perhaps as soon as tonight,” she said sternly.

“I don’t...” I began protesting.

“Don’t worry, my dear. I know what you are worried about, and it is absolutely normal. Everyone is scared of the unknown and that is precisely why I am here for you. Every honorable maiden shared the same fear and worries that you are having now before their first time mating with one of the princes. It is completely normal...” she said reassuringly.

I wanted to scream at her that she was getting it all wrong. The main issue wasn’t my fear of losing my virginity at all. It may be the case that I was scared and worried about it because I have never gone all the way with a man before; however, my worries extended far beyond that.

Even I could tell that Madame Sand had no intention whatsoever of helping me even if she believed that it was all some kind of misunderstanding. The madame was just so hellbent on getting me to sleep with the prince so that I could get pregnant and give birth to an ultimate alpha.

“Umm...isn’t there someone else? You know, other...more suitable...honorable maidens that would be a better match for Prince Leonard?” I asked as I dared to have some hope.

“Of course, there are plenty,” she replied without hesitation.

A lump formed in my throat as I suddenly felt very pressured about all this. When the prince bought me at the auction, I never imagined that I would need to mate with him.

“I’m just a maid. I’m not cut out for this. Can you please...recommend someone else instead?” I asked pleadingly.

“It doesn’t matter what or who you think you are. I told you this before, all that matters is what the prince thinks of you,” she replied a little coldly.

I bit hard on my lower lip as I tried to accept the harsh reality that no one could possibly save me. If I wanted to change my fate, I had to convince Prince Leonard otherwise.

“I understand...” I murmured softly.

“Good. Let us proceed with this very important lesson. Please understand that it is a high honor even for an honorable maiden to be chosen to spend a night with a prince. It is a prestigious and rare opportunity, especially in Prince Leonard’s case. I honestly don’t remember the last time that he turned up here. It has been many years...” she said before she smiled what I thought was a sad smile.

So, he used to come here many years ago. I guess he was here to see one of the honorable maidens because pretty much no one else lived here.

“I see...” I murmured.

“I think you should already know this already, but I want to emphasize it again. No matter what happens when you spend the night with the prince, do not panic. I will tell you what you should expect; however, other unexpected things may happen. After all, we don’t have a complete understanding of what it’s like to mate with a werewolf and each wolf can be very different,” she explained quite calmly.

Right. On top of being nervous about my first time having sex, I also had to worry about the fact that my lover happens to be a werewolf.

“Aha...” I muttered without any excitement.

I wished that she would just give me some customary advice like closing my eyes and waiting for everything to pass and for morning to come; however, the madame was just too good at her job.

“During the act, the wolf will become excited and that will result in physical transformation in the prince’s body. You may see features of the animal appearing on the prince’s human body. Do not panic if this happens because it is absolutely normal. In fact, it is better this way because it will increase your chances of conceiving. Full transformation is extremely rare, and I am unsure if it had ever happened before; however, know that the size of a werewolf is much larger than the prince’s human form,” Madame Sand lectured me sternly.

The prince was already quite a large man...and I happened to know that from my personal experience...

Madame Sand’s eyes rested on my face as if to see if I had any questions before she continued on with her extremely educational lecture.

“Are you aware of how wolves mate?” she asked.

“Sort of...” I replied without much confidence.
