The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 906: LOU WAS IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Chapter 906: LOU WAS IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Lou let out an earth shattering scream, as he tried to get away from Rei, his veins turned black under his skin, as if the skin had turned translucent and it was a devastating sight.

Seeing that, Iris immediately grabbed a glass that Abby used to drink earlier and shattered it to the ground, she immediately picked the sharp shard to be used to stab Rei.

However, the fire that burned his body prevented her to come closer, unless she wanted to get herself burned.

Out of impulse, when Iris decided to go ahead, a loud bang came from the door, as it flew out of its hinges and black wisp strike the burning Rei.

Iris didn’t use her black wisp, because she needed to come in contact with Rei in order to purify the dark magic within him.

However, Rei dodged the attack swiftly and escaped through the window, dropping the merchant and left the room.

"Lou!" Iris screamed on the top of her lungs, as she scrambled to reach Lou, she threw away the sharp shard in her hand and approached Lou. Cane came as well with Jace and Redmond. "Cane! We need Grace! We need her!"

Jace immediately rushed out of the room in his beast form to get the healer. This mission was completely a failure.

"Cane, what should I do? What should I do?" Iris was trembling, the sight of Lou gutted her. She was afraid beyond word.

The last time Iris saw Lou in critical condition was when Decratic stabbed him, but even then she knew she could do something to preserve his life, but right now, his condition was something she had never seen before.

Lou’s veins popped out and it had turned black, while his skin became translucent, his eyes turned dark and blood oozed out from his eyes and ears. He was breathing heavily.

"Calm down, Iris, calm down." Cane grabbed her hands to stop her from trembling.

"We shouldn’t have done this, I am sorry, I am sorry." Iris felt very guilty because this mission was her idea. She was the one, who suggested it because she thought it would benefit them to get Abby’s confession privately without the presence of the Holy Kingdom.

However, it completely backfired on them.

Abby came closer too and saw Lou’s condition. This was bad, really bad. "Luna, you need to calm down, we can do something."

Abby was not affected by Lou’s horrible condition, because she didn’t have an attachment feeling toward him, but Iris was shaken up, because she thought she was going to lose him and that was because of her fault.

She shouldn’t have given the idea...

"Luna! We can still save him." Abby shook her head. "Incredible... he still survived... how he could still survive?" she muttered to herself. It seemed, Abby knew what happened to Lou and the merchant supposed to be dead by now.

The fact he still had his life intact was incredulous.

"Iris!" Cane raised his voice to get her attention before her mind wandered around wildly. "We still can save him, you need to calm down!"

Iris was startled, but it helped her to get back to her senses. She blinked away her tears and started to concentrate, as she toughened her heart and faced Lou again. Abby was sitting on Lou’s right side, while Iris took his left, both of them took his hands and started to channel divine power within him.

Redmond clenched his jaw, he frowned deeply. He didn’t really like Lou, but the thought there was a chance he didn’t make it, didn’t settle well with him. He didn’t know what to do and just stood there, hoping for the two Serafims worked well together to save the merchant’s life.

At the same time, a few people came through the door, but it was not Jace and Grace, instead it was the elders, who immediately screeched upon seeing the state of this room and the aftermath of the fight between Rei and Lou.

"What is going on here?!" Elder Xarex roared. "What is happening?!"

Redmond immediately blocked them from coming closer. "Step back!" he growled. They came here right away because Cane lost Rei during their busy time to reorganize this pack and the people from the Black Market.

After looking for him everywhere and they couldn’t find him, the alpha immediately came to this room with conclusion the plan had failed and Rei knew about it. He only played dumb and waited for them to make this move.

"You should be the one, who steps back!" Elder Xarex roared. "What are you doing inside the Serafim’s bedroom?!"

Cane stood up and confronted them as well, while Elder Rose caught a sight of Abby, who was already conscious, Elder Dandolf looked around the room, as if he was looking for something.... or someone.

"Explain this, alpha Cane!" Elder Xarex hollered.

Redmond tempted to dig his claws on his face. It would be satisfying, but he didn’t budge from his position and the alpha didn’t even flinch. Both of them were fed up by these old things.

"You should be the one, who gives me an explanation elder Xarex!" Cane spoke, his voice was heavy and dangerous, while Iris and Abby worked on Lou behind him and Redmond. "Rei had injured one of my people! How will you explain this?!"

Elder Xarex and Elder Rose looked shocked, but Elder Dandolf became very quiet and these responds didn’t go unnoticed by Cane. Elder Dandolf knew what was going on, he knew that Rei had been waiting for this opportunity. He didn’t look surprise at all.

"There is no way Rei would have done it! You were the one, who barged into the Serafim’s bedroom!"

"My luna knew a way to wake the Serafim up, so she came here right away, but Rei attacked them and Lou only tried to defend themselves." Cane narrowed his eyes. "How will you explain this? Where is Rei now?"

They couldn’t answer the question.

"There is no way he had done this!" Elder Xarex insisted. "If anything, I would believe more if you had done it." He hissed. "You are the lycan after all, the cursed creature."

"How could you shelter a black magic user, but condemned me as a lycan?" Cane’s eyes flickered into red color, as the lycan came to play.

This question silenced him and not long after Jace came with Grace. He couldn’t get the healer right away because he had to fight three knights, who stood in front of her room to get to her.

Grace immediately went to see Lou and the room became eerily quiet, the only sound came from Lou’s heavy breathing, until the noise faded away and the merchant closed his eyes.

It seemed, he finally got some rest and the pain was more bearable.

However, the matter did not settle there.

Lou was moved to different room and Iris’s hands were treated by Grace, she cut herself when she tried to stab Rei with the sharp shard, while Abby explained the situation to the elders, but of course, they barely believed her.

Right now, they were in the strategy room, gathered around to discuss this matter, since they couldn’t prolong this misunderstanding, that was the word that Elder Xarex used.

"Where is he?" Redmond asked impatiently. "If he indeed not got involved in the mess earlier, you must have found him by now and he would have joined us. He used to come first whenever we have this meeting."

Redmond had attended a few meetings ever since he arrived with the Blue Moon warriors and he was certain that he didn’t like that man, whether or not he was a black magic user.

They had been waiting for more than an hour, but the knights couldn’t find Rei anywhere, it almost like he had vanished into thin air. The pure faction people didn’t want to say anything about his whereabouts and kept it to themselves, as they told them they didn’t know know anything.

It was not a surprise for that faction not to cooperate.

"I am fine," Iris said, reassured Cane, who was very silent the whole time, he stared at her bandaged right hand with grim look. "I am really fine."

"No, you are not. You are hurt." Cane hated to see her in pain. He had this fleeting impulse to hide Iris somewhere, so no one knew her whereabouts, so no one would be able to hurt her. He wanted to get her out of harm way.

If he could, he wanted to lock her inside the bedroom and gathered all the warriors from the Blue Moon pack to protect her, keeping her there until everything settled down and it was safe enough for her to step outside. This world was too dangerous for her.

"We found Rei." One of the knights entered the room and reported it. "He is on his way here."

Elder Xarex looked relief. He looked at Cane with disdain. "Now, we can learn the truth about what had happened."

Cane didn’t pay attention to him, if anything, his face turned darker with the mention of Rei. Elder Xarex shifted his attention toward Abby, who was sitting silently in her chair, she still looked very pale, but she needed to be here.

"You need to explain yourself too."

Abby lifted her head and her eyes looked very defiant when she spoke. "I have explained myself enough, Elder Rose tried to kill my baby. Didn’t you hear that already?"

Rei entered the room with two men by his side.
