Chapter 884: SHE SHOWED THEM WHAT SHE WAS CAPABLE OF
"Cane, what should I say to convince them to be on my side? To make them pledged their loyalty to me?" Iris asked in small voice before they went to sleep. She looked very nervous that the day she would confront the warriors was getting closer.
Five thousand was a huge number. Iris might have grown from her timid self, but still, that number was too much for her to handle. Thinking about that alone would always leave her with overwhelmed feeling.
Cane cupped her face, he could see panic in her beautiful blue eyes. "Warriors are the roughest among the werewolves. This creature couldn’t be convinced by word. You need to show them what real power looks like, only then you can convince them."
Iris frowned. "How?" she pursed her lips. "I am not you that can shift into a beast and fight them."
Cane chuckled. "Why should you fight them when you can do it without even touching them?"
That was how Cane told Iris about what to do. There was no need for a long speech, they wouldn’t listen anyway. And Iris found this method was way more efficient and impactful.
After what Iris said, all of sudden they felt excruciating pain that brought them to their knees. They clutched their chest, having a hard time to breath because the pain was unbearable.
Without them knowing it, they had knelt down before her.
Cane was right. Iris didn’t need to convince them, but simply showed them that she was stronger than anyone else. Something that she was more than capable of doing.
"H- How... you can do this?" the warriors were surprised and when the pain subsided, they looked at Iris with fear in their eyes.
Iris didn’t want them to fear her, but this feeling was a good start. They could grow some respect with each other as the time went by. As long as they pledged to her, respect was something possible.
"Is it okay for her to use her power like that? You said it yourself that her negative emotions can be Decratic’s power." Ethan frowned. He was impressed by what Iris could do, but he was worried of the aftermath. They were there when they fought Decratic and the last thing that they wanted was to have that devil creature to regain his strength again.
"She didn’t do it out of negative emotions. She doesn’t resent them." Cane couldn’t take his eyes off his mate. She looked very dazzling right now when she was shining like this. She had grown so much and Cane couldn’t be more proud of her.
But, Cane was not the only person, who thought that way because right now Lou and Redmond are fascinated by what Iris had done. The two of them couldn’t take their eyes off of her too.
And after that, everything was smooth sailing. They pledged to her and Iris got the five thousand warriors’ loyalty by showing them she was able to kill them all if she wanted to.
Instilling fear was the fastest way to gain support and for now that was what they needed to do.
With that, Redmond would march with the five thousand warriors within five days from now and Ethan would leave with the merchant and waited for them in the Winter Moon pack’s harbor.
"The problem we are facing now is the protection shield around the Winter Moon pack, how can you take it down?" Lou asked out of curiosity, he had been dying to know the answer, but Cane simply didn’t want to give him and he had wrecked his brain to figure it out, still, he couldn’t find the answer he was looking for.
"You will find out later when the time came." Cane then closed the curtain to his tent, effectively shooing the merchant away and then focused on his mate. "Are you tired?" Cane caressed Iris’s cheek, she looked sleepy.
"A little bit," Iris yawned and sat down on the edge of the bed. "What are you doing?" She frowned when she saw Cane was kneeling down in front of her.
"Let me taking care of you," Cane said calmly, as he raised her feet and took off her shoes. "You have done extremely well, Iris. I am so proud of you."
Iris beamed. This word meant the world for her, especially when it was Cane, who said that. "Really?"
"You did it. You won them over."
Iris grinned, she was delighted and from the corner of her eyes, she could see her little lights shimmered, one of them moved around actively, while the other seemed too lazy to even make a move, as it rested on her lap.
"What is it? What those little lights are doing now?" Cane understood that look on Iris’s face. It was a pity he couldn’t see them.
"One of the lights is more active than the other." Iris nudged the light on her lap, while the other one floating around Cane’s head and then rested on his left shoulder. "And the other one is on your shoulder." She pointed to his left shoulder.
"Really?"
"Hm." Iris nodded. "I think I can see their tail now. Or, is that their muzzle?" Iris tilted her head. "They are not round anymore, more like an oval shape..."
Cane’s heart flooded with warm. Iris was close to two months now, it meant if everything went well they would see their children in seven months.
Seven months. Cane had to wrap everything up before that time. The sooner the better.
The next day, they were surprised by Abby’s visit. She didn’t come with Liam and Cedric, but instead with her other two knights. Her complexion told them that she was not in a good place right now.
"Leave, I have something to talk with them," Abby said to James. She looked at him with disdain.
"I am ordered to be here, I supposed not to leave your side, Serafim, please understand." James didn’t budge.
