Chapter 781: THE DAY BEFORE THE BATTLE (2)
Eron and Dyne would stay behind, while Zephyr, Otis and Kian would join Jace’s group to go to the battle. They needed a lot of people to join them, or else, once they fell, everything would fall along with them, there was no one to be saved and everyone would fall into the pity of Decratic, where most of them still had not yet learned the truth and only saw him as King Alan.
Joel, Finn and Trion would be in Cane’s group along with Dean and Pax and some more warriors and knights.
Thousands of people gathered, shifters, knights and magic users alike. These faces were the faces they might not see after everything was done, whether they won or lose, there was no war without sacrifices and no one could tell, who was going to meet their demise.
They were well aware of that fact, after all, you wouldn’t be a warrior or knights in the first place, if you were not ready to give your life to accomplish your task.
Iris stared at Cane, who was talking to Cedric and Abby, she failed to convince him to let her come, she had told him that she would be a great help. With Na’s life essence within her, her divine power was stronger than Abby.
Still, Cane didn’t want to listen to her.
Iris was off limit, no matter how Cedric tried to convince him to let her come with them, since it would be a great help.
However, Cane’s favorite line to throw it to their faces was; she is not the the Serafim.
’But she has the first Serafim’s life essence.’ That was how Cedric would retort. This was considered as the top secret and even among Abby’s personal warriors, only Cedric and Liam, who knew about it.
’Then let the world know she is the Serafim, instead of her.’
After that reply, none of them could come up with another argumentation. They had agreed to keep this as a secret, because if the news came out, Abby would be the person, who took the brunt.
If worse came to worse and the Holy Kingdom forsake her, Abby would have nowhere to go.
On the other hand, Cane didn’t want to have anything to do with Holy Kingdom. There would be another war, if they tried to take Iris away from him.
Therefore, this arrangement was perfect for them.
Cane’s decision about Iris not to come was absolute. He didn’t care whether it was right or wrong, but he would never put Iris in crossfire, even if it could raise his chance to win the war.
Even if he lost this war, he already had another arrangement for her to escape this continent...
"For a good luck," Iris said, as she kissed him on the lips when he finally finished talking with his warriors and approached her.
Cane smiled and kissed her back. "I think I need a lot of it."
"Can you stop it? I feel unwell to see this sight so early in the morning," Lou complained, he actually rushed here when he saw Iris was alone and wanted to have a conversation with her.
After he told her some hints yesterday and he was less guilty because he helped Cane to hide the truth from her, he became more than happy to approach her again whenever he got the chance.
But, why this alpha appeared all of sudden?! Lou only lost his sight on her less than thirty seconds because he had to go through the crowd of shifters, but now Cane was already here!
And what they were doing in front of so many people!?
Meanwhile, other people didn’t seem to be bothered, since they used to see something more intimate than this during party in the past. "Hey! Are you going to eat each other?!" Lou grumbled when he saw Cane didn’t have any intention to stop kissing his mate. "Whatever!" he grumbled under his breathe.
"You can leave, you know, if you don’t want to see it," Zale commented and he startled the merchant.
"Damn it! What are you doing here?!" he didn’t expect Zale to be there, but this young boy also stared at the alpha and the luna with impassive eyes, yet his sight turned black when the merchant closed his eyes.
"This is not the sight that a boy in your age can consume," Lou said rightfully, as he held the young boy in his place.
"Let me go! I told you, right? I have seen your woman kissed the luna’s personal warrior?" Zale wanted to bite his hand, but he only covered his eyes and it was hard to struggle against him. "Let me go!"
And when Lou finally let him go, he pushed him to the side, as he marched toward Cane and Iris, fuming. They just finished gave each other their ’luck’. Yuck!
"I want to have a moment with her," Lou said, he didn’t ask, but demanding it. He thought, Cane wouldn’t agree with that, knowing how jealous and insecure this alpha was whenever he approached his mate, at least that was what in Lou’s mind to justify his action.
However, to his surprise, Cane nodded and then kissed Iris on the lips again briefly. "I will see you again before we set off."
Cane then tilted his head and beckoned Zale to come with him. He had noticed the young boy’s presence earlier and wanted to have a small talk with him.
Zale was not less surprise like Lou, he immediately bolted toward the alpha. Despite how often he spoke that he was unsatisfied with him and all the ’lesson’ he gave him with those stupid stones, he seemed very eager to talk with Cane.
"He really left us alone?" Lou blinked his eyes in disbelief when he watched Cane and Zale walked away.
Hearing that, Iris giggled. "Why are you very surprise? He is not as bad as you are thinking."
"He is controlling."
"That’s only in your mind." No matter what, Iris would come to defense her man, especially to those, who tried to badmouth him. "What do you want to talk about?" Iris changed the topic. She didn’t want to have argumentation with Lou before he went with the warriors and knights.
Lou finally averted his gaze from Cane and grinned at Iris. He liked to see her smiling like this, which made him felt even more better because he knew had made the right call not to tell her the whole truth.
"Nothing in particular, I only wanted to see you before I meet my demise." Lou said nonchalantly, he shrugged his shoulders.
"Lou!" Iris was startled. "Don’t jinx!" No matter how annoying Lou was and how he used to give her more than headache than feeling happy, but she used to have him around and think of him as one of them. Iris didn’t want anything bad happened to him.
Lou guffawed when he saw Iris’s expression. "I am just joking. I am not that easy to be killed."
"I don’t like your joke." Iris didn’t laugh with him.
Lou sighed and then fished out something from his pocket. "Here take this." Lou took her hand and put something on her palm.
But, when Iris saw it, there was nothing there. It was empty, which made her frowned. "What do you mean with this?" She stared at him with confusion in her eyes.
Lou chuckled. "If you kissed me, I will let you know."
The light in her eyes vanished and she turned around without saying anything, which made Lou panicked and chased after her. "Wait! Wait! I am just joking, joking!" Lou stood in front of Iris and stopped her from walking away from him. "Come here, give me your hand."
Lou didn’t wait for Iris to give him her hand, because she wouldn’t and took her hand instead. He pointed his forefinger on her palm and it showed a bright light, the color of blue.
Iris immediately retracted her hand and stared at a small dot on the middle of her palm. "What is this?"
"Magic," Lou said with a grin. "You can channel your power to that small dot if you felt like you were in danger."
"And then what happened?" Iris lifted her head and looked at Lou.
"This work like a portal. When you felt like you were in danger, use this and you will be taken to the first place that came to your mind." Lou looked so proud of himself when he explained that. "I wish you will never use it though." Because it meant, she would be in danger and he didn’t like the idea of it.
"Thank you, Lou. I really appreciate it," Iris said. "I wish to see you again after everything is end."
"I think I can use your ’good luck’ too," Lou suggested. Of course, what he meant was the way Iris wished Cane a good luck.
"I don’t think you can even participate in the battle before you met your demise if Cane heard that." Iris took that as he was joking around again. He really had a bad sense of humor.
Lou grumbled and clicked his tongue.
"Well, you don’t need to worry about anything. I will keep my word too about your mate." Lou crossed his arms in front of his chest, he said that reluctantly, but Iris didn’t understand what he meant.
"What is that?" Iris creased her brows. "Did you promise me something about Cane?"
"You don’t remember?" Lou tilted his head, he looked confused when Iris shook her head.
