Ethan thought he was already immune by what he would see, but as it turned out, he overestimated himself. He was not that immune and was still taken aback when he watched Cane and Iris were in the middle of their passionate kiss.

How they could be this passionate when dozens of people were waiting for them outside?! Ethan couldn’t comprehend this.

Cane was usually not easily aroused and from all people could see, Iris was not that amorous, but why whenever they were together, it seemed the two of them turned into someone else completely, as if they couldn’t put their hands away from each other.

Especially now! How could Cane become so reckless? They didn’t even realize the gamma was watching them for a while?

"Ehem! Uhuk!" Ethan cleared his throat and then coughed noisily to get the attention from the two of them.

Only then Iris startled, she immediately tried to stand up from her position. Currently, she was straddling Cane, but he didn’t let her go, instead, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pushed her head against his chest, so she could hide her red face.

Was that really necessary?! They had important thing out here! "Cane, the other have been waiting," Ethan said stiffly.

"I will go out in a moment," Cane said casually, as if there was nothing happened, he was as calm as ever, but the gamma’s face already turned red, he scratched his head.

"Okay." Fine. Took your time! We were only side characters in your story after all!

It took Cane two minutes to finally come out from the carriage. He looked presentable, there was no trace of his lewd activity earlier.

"Thank you for waiting, my mate is not feeling well after this long journey, I need to comfort her," Cane said smoothly, as if lying was his second language.

Everyone there knew what happened inside the carriage, or they assumed so after they witnessed Ethan’s expression when he opened the carriage door, but of course, none of them would hold it against Cane, they had more important thing to talk about rather than dwelled in this matter.

However, the same thing couldn’t be said to a certain merchant. Lou’s face turned ashen, more so when he didn’t have any chance to talk with Iris, explaining himself about the children.

"Don’t worry, alpha, we understood luna Iris’s body is rather delicate, this long journey must have exhausted her," alpha Colter spoke wisely.

With that excuse, Iris could skip having small talk with the rest of them and stayed inside the carriage, enjoying her time with her baby, talking to them, as they moved in her belly.

Iris couldn’t stop giggling and grinning from ear to ear, because this feeling was very foreign for her, but she liked it a lot.

Once she was escorted to her bedroom that she would share with her mate, Iris asked for Cane, but unfortunately the alpha and the rest would be having a meeting right away, so it might be later at night when Cane could come to her again.

"Where is Ethan?" Iris asked the servant, who showed her to her bedroom.

"Pardon me, luna. I am not sure, who is that?" she looked confused.

"Oh, the gamma of my pack. He was walking behind alpha Cane before," Iris said excitedly, she wanted to show this to Ethan. She wanted to see his expression too.

"I will look for him."

"Tell him to come to me right away."

The servant resigned herself and left the room, leaving Iris alone, as she observed her and Cane’s bedroom. She opened the curtain and felt bitter to see the dark sky again. When this dark sky disappeared and this strange black rain stopped?

This was the only thing that dampened her mood.

But, Iris was being cheerful again when she heard Ethan’s voice, as he knocked on the door. Iris rushed to open it and pulled him inside the bedroom.

"Wow, Iris! What is it?" Ethan blinked his eyes, confused with the huge smile on her lips.

Iris stretched out her hand with her palm was facing up, asking for his hand. "Your hand," she said excitedly.

Ethan could see how she was in a good mood, but didn’t know what she wanted with his hand. "For what?" he asked, but at the same time, he gave her his hand, but he immediately pulled it back when he saw what she was going to do. "Iris! What are you doing?! Cane will kill me!"

Ethan’s eyes widened in horror when Iris brought his hand to touch her body, but she clicked her tongue impatiently and pursed her lips. "Don’t think too much, what do you think I am going to do with you?"

"That’s my question, what are you going to do with me?" Ethan took a step back. "Iris, I still want to live."

Iris stomped her foot, annoyed. "The baby is moving, I want you to feel it!" she blurted out, upset because her surprise was ruined.

"Really?" Ethan came closer and then gave her his hand. "Let me feel it!"

"No need!" Iris swatted his hand away. "Don’t touch me, or I will tell Cane and he will kill you." She sulking now.

"Owh, don’t be like that, Iris. We are like sibling, how can I have such thought? I was just joking, okay? Come here, come here, let me feel the baby!" Ethan tried to coax Iris now, as he followed behind her like a child, asking for a candy.

"No, you tell me you didn’t want to feel it."

Ethan widened his eyes in surprised. The gamma was being dramatic like usual right now. "When did I say that? I have never said anything so cruel like that."

Iris turned around and glared at him. Ethan indeed didn’t say that he didn’t want to feel the baby, but sure enough it was the same for her when he rejected her offer earlier and had a bad idea about what she was going to do.

Receiving Iris’s sharp glance, Ethan smiled at her innocently, acting very sweet toward her, but then her eyes widened, as she stared at something behind him. Her expression changed into shock.

"What happened?"

Out of instinct, Ethan turned around and found nothing that could make Iris’s expression changed very drastic.

Iris actually gasped loudly and covered her mouth, as she started crying, which made Ethan became very panic, thinking she was in pain or something.

"What is happening? Are you, okay? Are you hurt somewhere?"

Yet, Iris kept crying inconsolably.

Darkness.

That was the first thing that Haco saw when he opened his eyes and then something warmth laid on his chest. He tried to move it, but he didn’t have enough strength. Slowly, he lifted his head slightly and looked down to see Celia’s little body sprawled on top of him.

He took a moment to remember, who was this little girl and what happened with them, but he couldn’t recall anything.

His body was in pain, especially his back. He groaned when he moved his hand to shake this little girl’s body. She was still alive, as he saw her body moved slightly when she was breathing.

Haco looked around, they were in the middle of nowhere, there were so many rocks and the rain was pouring down on them, made the ground muddy. It was cold and it reminded him of winter.

The winter...

There were a few flashes of memories that came to his mind, but he couldn’t remember, where he got that. His mind was clouded and when he closed his eyes, he let the darkness consumed her, as he forgot about everything one more time.

He couldn’t wait to conquer more pack. The taste of the victory against the Golden Light pack was addictive. It would be a matter of time before they ruled this continent, after they took down the king and placed Vemion on his rightful position.

"A lot of your people died because the reinforcement from the Holy kingdom came very late, as there was a landslide that cut their road."

Koda then explained briefly of what had happened in the south, since the last report that Cane received was the attack. He didn’t know the result of it.

But, aside from the strange illness because of the rain and the late arrival of the reinforcement because of the landslide, everything went according to Cane’s plan.

Now, he needed to know, who had died during the battle. He would ask Ethan for the list of it. After some time they talked about the battle in the south, Koda finally brought up the main topic.

"Alpha Cane, we really appreciate you if you allow your luna to look after the baby. The baby’s condition is very poor. If we lost the baby, we will lose the reason why everything came to this point."

They saw the baby as a thing to justify their action to take down the current king, to raise a coup.

However, if they really lost the baby, Cane was sure, they would find another one to replace him, since the seven days had passed and the baby was no longer had golden eyes.

"I will ask my mate to look for the baby, but don’t let your hope gets too high," Cane said casually.
